Helium deserves insane credit for this battle and his counter was absolutely mental. With that being said Inertia won because he brought two new sounds to the GBB stage that have never been used before with incredible control. The high pitch sound he does in his second round that clips the recording mic also had enough bass in it to shake the floor at the event which is why everyone was going absolutely berserk. Inertia's sound control and in-person power won him this round but it is easy to say that either of these guys could have went the distance with these rounds.

Deciding factors in my eyes were Helium's structure in round 2 (dubstep after inward bass? No buildup/followthrough) and that filthy vocal bass + dubstep counter Inertia did in round 2. All said, Inertia is already spamming inward bass/squeal and here he shows the vocal run which he will fall back on in every battle after this (about 6:11). Extremely close battle.

I heard they disallowed OT rounds in this GBB which sucks but any judge that voted OT would get their vote removed. Helium won this for me because he was more diverse and had an amazing counter with a lower inward bass than the inward bass GOD. I love them both so I'm perfectly fine with the result but I think if there was a third round Helium would've won because of his bigger variety of sounds and styles.

@@lDreepsy I just feel like inward bass has overstayed its welcome and is starting to exhaust me. It's exhausting me in the same way the community got tired of lip rolls a couple years back and now very few beatboxers base their entire style on them. It's interesting to watch the sound be pushed to its limits but how much further can you go before the sound completely overtakes your style. Helium's counter was great because it was a middle finger to the inward bass spam as well as countering the inward bass God's signature sound. Helium showed he has it in his bag but it's a tool, not the whole toolbox. KI has done some crazy shit and is definitely in the upper echelon of beatboxing but I'm just tired of the sound and want more variety.

Best battle of GBB thus far, NO QUESTION. Personally, I think that Inertia is insane, but he's getting repetitive with old routines and the same sounds. Helium took it for me, because of his insane counter, but it could go both ways.

Btw for this edition of the GBB, the rules were that an overtime vote counted as giving up your vote, meaning that you would need all 5 judges to put down their vote to get an overtime instead of just having the majority vote for it. At least I assume this would lead to an overtime lol, maybe they would just tell the judges that they have to vote xd. This means that Inertia won 3-1 (Instead of 3-1-1 as it would have been in other years) since Reeps voted for overtime. Useless but potentially fun information?

For me, it also felt like Helium won, but it is so different live. King Intertia was probably more powerful live, but watching the video Helium was so much better (in my opinion). Also Chezame said, that Heliums Inward bass felt stronger to him than King Intertias (So, it was for me one of the best counters ever). Anyway, due to the technical advantages Helium had in this battle, my choice would have been him. Live or on video. But I still respect the judges decision. One way or the other, that was an amazing battle. One of the best in the entire GBB history. Nice reaction. As always, keep it up man.

imo Helium lost because of his second round's part between the counter and last tech bit (fast to super fast :D). In the 2nd round's middle part there was slight pitch problems (at least I hear some) and one beat sounded like it was kinda off (timing problem). But still very close battle frfr. Fire!

@@gravisriders8124 tbh I cannot agree with you there, what you are basically saying is that he lost because of being less clean. Helium might have had a couple of timing issues if you are nitpicking very hard but inertia had way more problems with mainting his pitch and his technique at the same time, he butchered a very clear snare in his first drop and had timing issues when switching between sounds in the end especially. I cannot agree it is due to the execusion that Helium lost...

Maybe Inertia sounded crazier (live) and the mistakes weren't that obvious live. Can't say anything about live versions because sadly i wasnt there 😁.

As much as I respected the judges decisions every single time, this battle should have gone to helium. The judges have their reasons for their decisions and I am glad some of them are explained, some battles I'd also prefer someone else to win but they deffinitely had enough reasons to pick the other person. Having that said, I do truly believe that maybe some bias took a part in this one. Yes inertia has the absolute best bass, but he always uses his bass (ik it is multiple types, the point stays the same). In this battle Helium was way more diverse and showed speed and complexity that few if any beatboxers are even able to pull, in a PERFECTLY executed way, it was too clean. He threw a MASSIVE counter and just like Stitch said, Helium's bass even has it's own unique texture to it and it blew everyone away. I do also think his patterns are beyond original. I hate it when ppl throw hate at the judges without giving a reason for their own opinion, but there is many reasons for why Helium should have won, with all respect to both artists. This battle was absolutely legendary nonetheless and I think many will agree this was the actuall final of gbb 2021 hehe.

As much as I love Inertia's style, I just did not like his second round (high pitch sound overused and painful to listen to). Helium really killed it and if the crowd didn't play such a role he should have won that.

I know this comment is from a while ago but I will say that I never see people mention musicality in any of their arguments for why inertia should or should not win. I personally think that Inertia won but I can see why people think that Helium should have. That being said musicality also plays a big part in the way the rounds are scored. You could go on stage and do a bunch of super complex sounds and combos but if it doesn’t work in the sense of making some sort of music it doesn’t land as well. That’s why I think inertia won this one. His musicality imo was just way better than helium which is what edged the win for him.

Best battle of the tournament IMO, though I thought Helium should have won. Don’t get me wrong Inertia is the king of base and was totally dope, but Helium showed more beatboxing skills and range and his counter was unbelievable and possibly the highlight of the whole tournament 👍 Helium has defiantly made an impact on this tournament and in the beatboxing world and will be known as a competitor in the future, and that he isn’t just there to make up the numbers. Again I know you’ve enjoyed the SBX kickback Loop station battles, well this came before it and has the same battle element and videos you reacted to.
