La musica negli anni 80 era fantastica…gli anni migliori per la musica sono stati i 60-70-80 e buona parte dei 90. Sai tutto si esaurisce…ma sí…era fantastico avere il crush -come lo chiamate voi oggi- con questa musica che era suonata ovunque - nelle discoteche, in radio, nelle spiagge…- voi oggi avete tecnologie, whatsapp. Ogni generazione ha i suoi vantaggi…noi, quando qualcuno partiva…dopo un po’ non ne sapevamo più niente…comunque sia potete (e so che lo fate) continuare ad ascoltare la nostra musica. Pensa che i nostri genitori venivano dalla musica di Nilla Pizzi e Claudio Villa e ci consideravano pazzi. Tutti dicevano che non sarebbe durata che qualche mese…e invece sembra che -musicalmente- ci siamo fermati a quegli anni ❤❤❤
Quando uscì questo brano, nel 1984 avevo quasi 17 anni. Mi ricorda una gita scolastica assolata in primavera a Milano e una ragazzina, sorridente e bellissima. A distanza di 40 (!!) anni viaggio ancora con la testa...

There was a Scotch VHS tape advert on an 80s internet station, I wonder if they still replace tapes for life under their guarantee. I do not miss VHS, even S-VHS

@@nerk234 Classe '97, ma legato moltissimo alla musica degli anni '80 e '90(dei '90 soprattutto per artisti come Tupac e Notorius BIG, due leggende del Rap, quello vero). L'unica cosa che mi è piaciuta dei miei anni è stato qualche artista fuori scala R&B come Chris Brown e parte della dance music di Calvin Harris e Avicii( che di talento ne aveva, ma l'hanno fatto fuori appena ha iniziato a parlare di cose scomode). Per il resto, il ventennio '60-'80 è stato di gran lunga la migliore era musicale degli ultimi 80 anni e probabilmente ce ne vorranno altrettanti di anni per rivedere un'era musicale così iconica
l'idea della danza e dei movimenti al ritmo della canzone di soldati, della band musicale universitaria e delle cheerleader su quella nave militare ha un qualcosa di irriverente, satirico e geniale.

Yep, it feels relevant even today in this dire, polarized world. I remember the song from back then, my brother taped it from a radio show to one of his cassettes. The sound is very reminiscent of early synthpop bands like Ultravox and The Buggles.

The dancing soldiers in the video are a mix of actual US Navy personnel and Half Hollow Hills Central School District students dressed as navy officers. The marching band in the video is the high school band and US Navy band put together and the same applied to the school's color guard and kickline. This song surely is American pride.

I only turned 5 years old in August 1984 but I’m so glad I can call myself a child of the 1980s! The 80s music definitely puts today’s drab, dull and watered down rubbish of today (or recent times) to complete and utter shame! ❤️❤️
One of my FAVORITE new wave videos! I used to play this on a video jukebox when I was in the submarine service, and I loved it. The choreography of the spinning, hopping, saluting officers makes me crack up when I'm stoned too.
