Congrats to Alex Palou on breaking the winless streak in the most underrated racing series. If only there was marketing with the drivers and more promotion with the advertisements, Indycar can hit peak popularity like NASCAR did in the 2000’s.

I keep thinking Indy has major potential but it will take some takeover like Liberty Media with F1 to revamp its image. I don't agree with everything that has been done with F1. But there have definitely been improvements and F1 just needed refinement not revolution. Indy needs more substantial changes in my opinion

It's a shame, they've cleared all of the safety stuff out the Carousel (turn 5, 6, 6A or turn 10, 11, 12 for motorycles) so it'll be much harder to race that piece of track again.

Don’t get your hopes up, Motorsport games has the rights to it and they are in some issues right now. Maybe 2024. If you are on PC, get IRacing. If not, Project cars 2 is a good fix. Even Forza Motorsport has indycars.

At 8:55, how does the on-board camera get rid of the bug splat? I understand the drivers usually have the tearable plastic on the helmets, but how does the camera do it automatically?

The camera has a clear "film" that covers the camera lens. When a bug splat comes, they can move the film and move it to a new clean section. It's kinda like a spool of clear film that can move side to side.

I'd say there were 40-50 thousand peope there, easily (I was there), but when you put them in a facility that holds 350,000+, it looks empty. It will be jammed in two weeks. TWICE anything that F1 or NAPCAR does at any single event. Just goes to show how unfamiliar you are with the series and facility.

Hi! Canadian NASCAR fan, here, who knows not a lot about INDYCAR. I know a tiny bit, but that's about it. First off, I've heard great things about INDYCAR. I'll probably try to catch more highlights as the year goes on. Second, what's the difference between Primary and Alternate tires? Are they different compounds (like F1)? Are the Alternate tires ones that have already seen use (ie: qualifying/practice), and Primary tires are fresh (like scuffs and stickers in NASCAR)? Or is it something else? Thanks! Edit: I watched more of the highlights. Primary/Alternate is a compound difference.

I started following indycar back in the late 50s and 60s and used to love watching the cars racing at Milwaukee‘s state fair park. Good times. But I just can’t watch it anymore, for one reason. I just can’t handle these announcers screaming all the time like somebody squeezing their testicles.

I have a big problem with watching racing on peacock. During the live race they block portions out for ads. They don’t even run the ads most of the time when it’s live. They just block coverage and put you on a loading screen. During these moments, pit stops are happening and positions are being changed. Do better NBCSN.

That facility has one of the highest capacities in the world at 300,000+ people and will be sold out in a few weeks for the 500. They were still 10s of thousands of spectators there for this event, it just doesn't look like it because of the scale.

did Grosjean, or however you spell it, do that move at 3:00 on purpose? He massively ambushed the inside guy's right rear-view mirror, the inside guy hesitates on braking, which is bad for him, and couldn't bail out to the right because Grosjean was there on his right, blocking him in. It might be the drugs talking, but I wouldn't be surprised by a very veteran player in any sport using a move like that.

Welcome to racing, that's simply called putting pressure on your opposition to a mistake. The commentator is right it was a game of chicken and that's not very uncommon in racing. Grosjean was just putting pressure for a potential outside move and the other guy defended, at least tried and failed by braking too late to keep Grosjean behind No drugs or whatever in there mate, just proper racing
