Almost completely ignored in US news is the war in Yemen. It is quickly written off as Saudi vindictive barbarism. (which it certainly is) A closer look at the map reveals the 8 mile wide cataract on the Red Sea that separates the Middle East from central Africa. A bridge in Yemen (and a pipeline) could be easily constructed across the strait to Djibouti. The Chinese have a 4000 mile long, high speed railway from Djibouti to Dakar on the West African coast already in the planning stages. This would open all of sub-Saharan Africa to commerce, trade and control. This would also explain the proliferation of new US military bases covering the whole of this region. My point is that these wars have nothing to do with humanitarian causes or even ideologies, they are about competitive, confrontational aggression.
