Some may argue that this isn't "lightweight" and there's too much stuff. However those same bastards are the ones who need the ATAK device, a TQ, a buzzsaw, a protractor, etc. As an 03 like 90% of the stuff I bring with me to work gets used on other dudes. Dudes need to be thinking, "what's something someone else is going to forget", when you have that mindset you become an asset to your team and not just an individual. Super high quality and a good in depth vid. Appreciate the content per usual.

"It doesnt matter if youre a plt sgt or plt leader, you still need to carry the shit you need to fight". Yes! I felt like this was a constant battle i had with my company level leadership. My platoon is my weapon but there have been plenty of times when i needed to fight as well. Platoon level leadership not expecting to get in the fight is a terrible mindset to have

Molle space is precious. I have been running the Flatline Fiber Co tq pouches and dump pouches. They ride below the other kit to save space. I am just a consumer I don’t make anything. Just an option.

So no harm no foul if you prefer it sitting lower, but one thing I like to do with the shaw arc admin pouch /gen III PC combo is to use the two passthroughs next to the ID pouch velcro as molle to mount the pouch -- brings the admin pouch up even with the top of the PC and keeps it even more clear of your mags down below. Excellent video as always!

Good kit setup for leaders. Things I have on my kit that help as a leader: -IZLID Ultra on the front left of the plate carrier for target marking (Matbock pouch) -Front admin pouch (Blueforcegear is what I'm using) with a Harris Dual KDU so you can control both radios without having to take them out, especially with a 163. Also have extra wiring, a Leatherman Carbon, and a Leatherman bit kit in that admin pouch.
@TheGruntPerspective
@TheGruntPerspective 6 месяцев назад
I’m fucking hounding for a KDU but they are hard to find
@c14davidhopkins
@c14davidhopkins 6 месяцев назад
@@TheGruntPerspective yeah they're not super expensive. Maybe S6 can order it for you guys. But, then again, if you can't get a second PTT connector, maybe not. I think it's like $300 ish depending on what Harris quotes. Using ATAK in wet or cold conditions (gloves) is difficult since it's a touchscreen. A stylus helps. But I like having a separate KDU as a backup since it has physical buttons. Also works for the dudes who don't have an ATAK EUD. Another nice admin thing to have is a little microfiber cloth to wipe your glasses. Some guys let it dangle but I stow it in the admin pouch. Cabelas makes a neoprene-cased camo one with a little plastic carabiner. It's about 2x2". Also a big one for leaders operating at night: Sharpies. Classic, 1-ended regular tip. If you write on a Rite-in-the rain with those you can read it at night if you flip your NVGs up (disable auto-off which is a triple tap on 31s and crank the broghtness) and use the residual light coming out the ocular side. That way you don't have to use a red light and as long as you have night vision, you can read and take notes. You have to hold the notebook like 8 inches in front of your face though.

Infantry team leader - What I have learned from the years even in a crappy unit. 1. Be able to fight at every level of your gear. You need medical, ammo, and preferably water on each layer of kit. I have 2 mags and gerber, one of those tubular medical pouches, and my NODS on my battle belt so I can take everything off but that and still be able to fight. My kit has mags, ifak, and camelback minimum. 2. Have a reference card / PACE plan pouch. I keep my flaming rocks, ninja star, chemlights, CFF, 9 line cards, etc in my battle belt admin pouch. That way I always have reference or can hand to my joes for reference. 3. Everytime you move, and everytime you get somewhere, check ur gear. Constantly check ur gear for lost items. This is why you tie things down. I tie my gerber and nods down mainly. 4. Water water water. You never know when you will refill water. I always use my canteen for electrolytes and my camelback tiny sips for hydration. 5. Don’t be afraid to look delta. Cameo your gear up, wear garmins, get peltors. When you become a team leader it’s about controlling your pieces more than shooting, if you have a insecurity, fix it.

lol! “Memorize”, yeah right! You are correct, laminated cards! You’re absolutely right! Just because you move up, you’re still a gunslinger. As a Toon Daddy, I carried everything I carried as a team guy and then some! In my early days, we used ALICE, and I had my own kit to modify and carry what worked for me. In DS/DS I carried a 2qt on each side of the buttpack, and a SAW drum pouch on each side that I was able to fit 7 mags in. I still have a similar kit, using updated H-Harness from the M56 (Nam era) that I used. We didn’t have the nice pads, we made “puss pads” out of the old foamy sleep pads. All Alice clips were removed and tied in with 550 chord. Keep the good videos coming Devil Dog. S/F

Very valuable information. Your emphasis on carrying what you need to conduct the mission assigned to you is so important. so many people put lots of stuff outside of their role into their kit, like people having insane amounts of admin equipment when they really only need a small notebook and a sector of fire card or they carry an entire pouch full of radio accessories when they don't even have a radio. Mission dictates equipment, too many people both civilians and in the service try and carry equipment for 5 missions when they only have 1 mission.

Good video, and you are right to get up on the soap box, if your living the life you need to consider what you have, what example your setting, and what happens when you are going hands on because the enemy close enough to touch everyone’s belt buckles. Great set up to. My preference is to throw the spirits thing 2 over a slicked out plate carrier because it provides various options, same preference (LBV for PL time) I had all 3 platoons I was lucky enough to be a Platoon Leader for. My squad leader kit was more indicative of the times (early to mid GWAT) molle’d directly to the body armor. Weight distribution. I run mine slick because of that. The only thing that sits in the front is the mystery cinch to bring all of my pack higher and tighter to my body. Other than that, everything goes the belt. Most guys bring everything up on pc, which is fine. Too many, "you gotta have's" to fill space but then the question is why? If a Marines trains everything on a built cool, so be it. Ive seen guys train with hitchhiker packs where the load sits high in the back. Preference is key. Some guys see relestate on PC, like it needed to be address. The big thing about the shaw concepts now is everyone is trying to figure out what to do with all of the different functions the plate carrior to do. You cant set a standard on something thats design to accomadate a mission set.
