Meditay, I just wanted to say that I have my anatomy finals this semester, and your videos are one of my main sources of study. always straight to the point, well summarized content with intuitive animations. keep it up 😉 and thank you so much for maintaining this channel
How does all this work when you have a congenitally absent left inferior vena cava as I have? AVIC. Hard to find much info as it’s rare. Any input would be appreciated.
Thanks for your comment! Having a congenitally absent left inferior vena cava is pretty rare, but usually, when the left IVC is absent, other venous pathways like the azygos and hemiazygos veins, can take over to return blood to the heart, compensating for the missing structure. In most cases, people can live without major issues, but there could be a higher risk of blood clots or deep vein thrombosis (DVT) because the venous return may be less efficient. It's always good to check in with your doctor for advice specific to each case as every case is different
@@narresnair1154 I developed a blood clot in my right leg from the top of my right knee to my pelvis in 2017 when I was 32. I was put on Tinzaparin injections for about a month or two then transferred to oral anticoagulants but my superficial femoral vein either fully clotted or collapsed (the last ultrasound I had couldn’t detect any blood flow). I was referred to a hematologist who put me on 5 mg of Eliquis twice daily indefinitely. It gets painful I stand or sit for too long but other than that I’m doing okay. Bit of a dull ache in my right leg, groin and hip area that never really seems to go away.
@@narresnair1154 doing okay. Had a blood clot from the top of my right knee to my pelvis in 2017 but I was put on blood thinners and I’ve been fine ever since.
