Official Track Commentary: "I thought about setting up the character nature of “Infinite” with a Dubstep, Trap x Heavy Rock sound. Also, I wanted to put a rap part on either the main theme or the Infinite theme. Dangerkids’ Tyler Smyth worked the song right through mix and mastering, which in my mind gave it a powerful western feel." - Tomoya Ohtani
@@BreastfeeditMephiles continues and will continue to be better in strength, speed, agility, and was able to kill Sonic, something he could do infinitely but Sega wasted that potential.
@@MephilesEpicFan Mephiles is like Shinnok from Mortal Kombat, but arguably worse. They're both schemers who aren't that physically powerful. Shadow was able to beat Mephiles, twice. The only way Mephiles was able to kill Sonic was through a literal backstabbing after distracting him with a glowing light. And even as Solaris, he lost to all three Super Hedgehogs.
This may be copium but I hope they bring him back somehow after being "consumed" by the Phantom Ruby because I know that it hasn't been destroyed after Sonic Mania Plus

Lyrics: Yeah, yo! I'm the tallest of mountains I am the roughest of waves I'm the toughest of terrors I am the darkest of days I'm the last one that's standing Don't try to stand in my way 'Cause I've been up against better Just take a look at my face 'Cause if you're messing with me I am a dangerous weapon I am the sharpest of blades I'll cut you down in a second 'Cause I was born in this pain It only hurts if you let it So if you think you can take me Then you should go and forget it And after all this time, you're back for more (I won't stop until they know my name) So I'll take what's mine and start this war (I'm coming at you like a tidal wave, tidal wave, tidal wave) When everything you know has come and gone (You are at your lowest, I am rising higher) Only scars remain of who I was (What I find in the ashes, you lose in the fire) When there's no one left to carry on (This is an illusion, open up your eyes and) This pain persists, I can't resist But that's what it takes to be Infinite Yeah, so look around you and tell me what you really see I never end and that's the difference in you and me 'Cause when your time is up and everything is falling down It's only me and you Who is gonna save you now? So look around you and tell me what you really see You live a lie and that's the difference in you and me I have the power, let me show you what it's all about It's only me and you Who is gonna save you now? (Who is gonna save you now?) I am the tallest of mountains and don't you ever forget it If you step in the ring then you're gonna regret it (Take it) 'Cause if you're messing with me Then you should know that it's over I don't crumble for nothing I've got the world on my shoulders And after all this time, you're back for more (I won't stop until they know my name) So I'll take what's mine and start this war When everything you know has come and gone (You are at your lowest, I am rising higher) Only scars remain of who I was (What I find in the ashes, you lose in the fire) When there's no one left to carry on (This is an illusion, open up your eyes and) This pain persists, I can't resist But that's what it takes to be Infinite Yeah, so look around you and tell me what you really see I never end and that's the difference in you and me 'Cause when your time is up and everything is falling down It's only me and you Who is gonna save you now? funny how this song ends on such a musical cliffhanger, with all of the energy built up throughout the song fizzling out into one drawn out violin note. it just goes to show that every part of sonic team seems to have wanted to do more with infinite, both in forces and beyond, but with the abysmal reception this game and especially infinite himself got we'll be lucky if he's so much as mentioned in a mainline games -which is unwarranted tbh. infinite was great y'all just can't appreciate a cheesy villain for what he is-
Infinite is such a gloriously edgy, shitty villain I can't help but love him. How many characters can claim to have a theme song so edgy, the singer for Linkin Park killed himself when the song was released?
it's a shame I don't like this song as much as I should cos it does have a lot of potential to be one of my favourite character themes in the series, but (much like the rest of this game) it's very desperate and tries so hard to make you see Infinite as an edgy edgelord, but he comes across as tryhard. Shadow's theme "Throw it all Away" had few lyrics, but still managed to portray Shadow and his character as the ultimate lifeform. sometimes, less is more.
MAN, this entire track makes me think about how Infinite could've been, he had SO much potential (characterization, abilities and all), but it was wasted by his awful character portrayal and backstory. I honestly HATE how they made him a whiny edgelord.
Okay. Here's a thought. Imagine that infinite was "Sonic" under the mask. Like instead of a random wolf its an illusionary clone of sonic who's partially digital like from the phantom rubies illusions. Or even if it was a digital copy of your own character. That would've been cool. ...oh well music still a banger.
So many lyrics hinting to a lot of stuff that's just not in the actual story. What happened here? Were the original plans for his backstory cut and changed last minute due to mandates/lazyness?
honestly the whole game reeks of cut stuff, between the levels being really short, and most of the dialog happening in the main world screen when there should've been proper cutscenes (even in episode shadow). wouldn't be surprised to hear of a really rough development, as a NFS fan I can kinda tell when this stuff happens, and a lot of the game gives me that vibe
I'm the tallest of mountains I am the roughest of waves I'm the toughest of terrors I am the darkest of days I'm the last one that's standing Don't try to stand in my way 'Cause I've been up against better Just take a look at my face [Refrain: Tyler Smith] 'Cause if you're messing with me I am a dangerous weapon I am the sharpest of blades I'll cut you down in a second 'Cause I was born in this pain It only hurts if you let it So if you think you can take me Then you should go and FORGET IT
Honestly after Sonic Forces came out, I could no longer think of Caius Ballad from Final Fantasy XIII-2 without thinking of this theme (both Infinite and Caius were voiced by Liam O'Brien) and I have no shame as a Sonic fan when I say that.
0:00 Huh, weird. For some reason I expected heavy metal from this gu- 0:14 WHOA. Nevermind, here it is. :D Alright, now that I've listened to this song for the first time, I can without a shadow of a doubt confirm that this indeed is *the edgiest song ever...* and I love every second of it. :D
How is his backstory good in ANY measure? Is throwing a temper tantrum after getting beat up by the *lab-engineered* Ultimate Lifeform you really had no chance against really a good motivation for throwing away your own identity and becoming an edgelord? How they wrote him is not good either. Scenes that would leave a way bigger impact if he didn't speak or cut off the chatter just drag on and on as he talks big game, yet gets mauled by some rando with a flamethrower/whip in seconds. Much like the rest of Forces, Infinite was an excellent idea with Infinite potential (get it?) thrown away because nobody cared or dared to do it the right way even asking some basic questions.
@@charmyzard God I'm so sick of this pushed narrative from the fans. It wasn't "he threw a temper tantrum and became an edgelord". Infinite had a squad he worked with. Shadow killed his squad, and that's when Infinite was supposed to show why he had the reputation that he had as the "ultimate mercenary", but in the end he got beaten like his friends. He lost his comrades, and then got beaten and ridiculed when he was supposed to show his strength. That's why he obtains the power of the Phantom Ruby, to never feel so powerless again. Yes, the delivery of the story could've been much better, but the story itself is definitely there.
