I bought this for my friend for his birthday as we just moved into a new house and he finally has room for a workshop. The bench was very easy to set up ru-vid.comUgkxyFZUPFEey-PuqsPMxqaykBhgA1LWxFHh They center support is a little difficult to snap in and out of place at first but at least then we know the bench is secure. It was a pleasant surprise when we saw it came with clamps. I apparently missed that in the description. My friend loves the versatility of the bench. Great starter bench for his workshop and easily transportable all over our property. I wish the bench was a little taller but the other features of the bench more than make up for that.

nice video, like most of us, we just call the whole thing a window, indifferent to what all the bits are called, thanks for explaining them, so we all know when someone says this.. router or spindle cutter, we know which part they are machining.

Any chance this could be adjusted for a thicker tenon centered on the rail?

Very good video, but makers of this style of sash bits leave out an important question, how do you set up for the bottom rail (meeting rail) for upper sash in a double-hung window project? The bottom rail cannot receive the same cope cut that every other part receives. It has to have a flat surface for mounting the mullion stiles. With great difficulty, I used the smaller cope cutter (1 bladed) to make some scrap material and glued it back in to replace the mistaken cope that was not needed. But that's a lot of work and there has to be an easier way. Perhaps just use the dado setup and make the flat meeting rail for the upper sash without cutting that cope that wasn't wanted or needed, lol? Thanks!

For that you need to cut that one glass rabbet by other means (dado, rabbet bit). You can disassemble the cutter I assume to use the stick cutter only, or replace the bearing/put larger spacers to accommodate a larger thickness door or window, most cutters allow this. But you cannot use the rabbet alone, since it's probably not welded to the shaft. The only exception would be if your router has enough travel below the table you might be able to lower the bit enough to use the rabbet if only the rabbet is exposed and the stick cutter is below the table.

hello , just recently purchased your window sash bit set, just have a question on , when you build a 1 3/8 thick window , in your video what is the width of sash and muntins?
@InfinityTools
@InfinityTools 8 лет назад
Hi, The Muntins should be 3/4" wide, the sash on the other hand can be as narrow or as wide as you like, there is no standard with. I find 2-1/4" to be a nice size, but depending on the size of the window you may choose to make a wider or narrower sash. We recently made a an updated video that goes into a little more depth on making a window sash, I think you may find it helpful. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-5vvHcWEuyXk.html&lc=z125itcwulvpy15ey23ichjquxzhcjkjk04

As a beginner, just wan to know what kind of wood you used. Is it something at a specialty shop or a Lowes/ Home Depot buy?
@InfinityTools
@InfinityTools 8 лет назад
+3206vithoulkasThe type of wood will depend on the window being built and if you are matching existing windows or starting from scratch. Typically I recommend finding a local hardwood lumber supplier in your area. The large home centers are fine when you need a single pine or oak board, but you will find better prices and a larger variety of options if you can find a hardwood supplier. You will have trouble finding thick enough lumber at the home center for windows.

A window "sash" is the overall square or rectangular frame made from the stiles and rails. The "sash" pointed out in this video is actually called a "mullion". Mullions are vertical, and attached to the top and bottom rails. While muntins are the smaller, cross pieces attached to stiles and mullions.
@InfinityTools
@InfinityTools 5 лет назад
Mullions are often mistaken as vertical division bars between lights (pains of glass). Both vertical and horizontal division bars within the sash frame are Muntins. Mullions are vertical structural division bars either between two sash or between two doors in a double door configuration. They are part of the larger framework that support multiple sash.

Very nice video, thanks for sharing A stupid question at 2:30 is that just a standart table saw and you atach few blades together?
@InfinityTools
@InfinityTools 9 лет назад
Dinjan H Hi, the blade is called a Stacked Dado Blade. It is designed to make dados and tenons of different widths by adding or removing blades in the stack. You would not be able to stack standard saw blades on your table saw, the standard blades are not designed to mesh together in the same way a dado set does. Here is a link to our Dadonator Dado Set. www.infinitytools.com/Dado-Saw-Blade-Dadonator/products/1548/ Take a look, they are very handy tools to have.

Kurt used Maple in this video. We use Maple in a lot of our videos because it is a common and popular species that many are familiar with.

What dimensions of stiles and rail ?
@InfinityTools
@InfinityTools Год назад
You can visit our website for complete details (www.infinitytools.com/window-sash-router-bits), but our Window Sash Sr. set accomodates thicker sashes of 1-3/8" to 1-5/8" thick, and our Jr. set is designed for thinner sashes between 1-1/8" and 1-1/4" thick.

I'm not a woodworking expert, and my question is, what is the point of having a dado blade set up if you only take a tiny bit off with each pass? You might as well just use a standard blade?
@InfinityTools
@InfinityTools 7 лет назад
The Stacked Dado blade will leave a flat square corner while most other saw blades will not. Also, the dado blade is designed to cross-cut as well as it rips. Hope that helps.
