I love how quickly she settled on her name. She didn’t make it some big deal which is odd since she’s wanted to be her own person for so long. Maybe it’s just that. Maybe she doesn’t want things to be so complicated anymore? She was denied much on the train, and after living someone else’s life for so long and being perused for seeking individualism I imagine you wouldn’t want something so precious to your being to be deprived from you for any longer. Whatever her reason, Lake is a good name. Great edit too btw.

@Not TheBigA ok but she looked into the lake and saw her reflection which is something she couldnt do except with her own body without fear for a long time, I feel like that's more poetic.

@Not TheBigA I also believe lake is a better name considering her character arc. One of the key themes of the final episode is self-acceptance: she is only able to get off of the train because she accepts her nature as a reflection while simultaneously rejecting the implication that she has no other worth or value. Choosing the name Lake, I believe, emphasises that: she is a reflection, but there is so much more to her under the surface. But Sky is a better name for humans, I totes agree.

You know, after watching book 2 I was listening to "Goodbye To A World" by porter Robinson, and considered that to be the song that represents the season. And while I still feel that song could definitely fit in that context, this does seem to fit lake on the last episode. Thank you for this great song

I love both books, book 1 was cool because of its story, structure, characters, concepts and sense of mystery, while book 2 was cool because of the chemistry and development between its 2 main characters while also expanding the lore of the train and how the passenger system works, overall both seasons are amazing

AwesomeyFox I think season 2 also has wonders like that! For example, they give you the answer to if a problem is unsolvable. Your number can’t be anything because it can’t go down because your problem has no possible solution. They also answer the question of what’s the process of becoming a passenger on the train? What’s it look like to get your number? I loved it tbh. Also getting to see a colony of passengers was pretty cool too! But... they have lots of problems. Hopefully they’ll realize they’re all making a huge mistake.

I like how season 2 explored the world a little more and gave and interesting spin on the situation. I think season 1 was narratively and thematically tighter, but I thought MT’s struggle with being human and her want for freedom was a super interesting aspect.

I thought the name seemed ridiculous just because it was right there. Never realize that it reflected her. She was no longer someone’s reflection. She may be a reflection of tulip but she is her own person. Beautiful thought.
