This is a great parallel to the first time we meet lake. This idea of “me over them”. How Lake tried to trap Tulip in the mirror world, only to fail, and the same thing happens here wi the same result, failure. It was through cooperation and trust that lake was able to escape the mirror and the train, both with Tulip, and Jesse/Alan Dracula
Amelia got on the train with the starting number 337. It was heavily implied she was gonna commit suicide before she boarded the train and that only got her just above 300. How the hell did that one person get 5128??? Nothing in the video implied his number should have been that high.
Imma say that he's so far from working through his problems he doesn't even know what they are. Amelia knew she had problems and worked away from them, this guy idk. But yea thats a hella high number lol
I know, it's kind of weird how the train gives numbers, but like Hignososs said, his number might be that high due to him not knowing what his problem is, with a lot of bad attitude to boot, and Amelia when she got on, her number was 334 because she knew what her problem was but just decided not to fix it
_How_ did they get a number so high as 5,128? The number does not start out being based on what happens to them on the train,. It is based on their "psychological health" when they come aboard. You have lived a very insulary life if you don't think someone can be traumatized and dysfunctional up into the five thousands range. 🙄

If these automotons can be made to resemble anything in the real world, and to act like, and even think and feel like real people, with memories programmed into them... Then is it likely the Apex are _also_ the very things that they look down on, and exploit, but they don't know it? 😵 What are _your_ thoughts on such a possibility?
As far as Lake being seen as unsympathetic for what she's done, she is a product of an unjust system. She is a creation of the train, and the train is itself a flawed way of forcing people to deal with their issues. Yes, what she did to try to steal a number (and pod in the first case) was completely not right of her to do. However, her anger was also justified as she was trying to take something back from people she was explicitly said to matter less than. It is Lake's fault if she stole the girl's number that the girl isn't recorded into the train's system properly. However, it is not Lake's fault if the girl ends up trapped on the train; that is a fault of the train keeping people there for arbitrary reasons until it judges them worthy to leave. Rather than unsympathetic it is more tragic; to say she's beyond sympathy is to say she had to be a perfect victim in order to deserve sympathy, and that she is responsible for the consequences inflicted (on the lizard girl) by the system that victimized her.
THANK YOU. Displacing blame on a victim within a system that has the potential to victimize anyone and everyone isn't the way to go about it. It's completely bonkers backwards.
I actually felt the lost lizard girl, as an reptile lover and her seemingly yelling at the lizard in the 2nd clip, maybe she had a habit of being mad as a protective response?
I just had a new idea for a number error: What if there was some kind of number misprint or something? Like let’s say that the number machine had an error, and your number looked like a badly written number? Or something like that.

Not really, she comes off as an angry entitled jerk. Though that may just be pre-character development. If that's supposed to represent trans/nb people, then that's pretty lackluster.
@@EmptyMan000 she was a jerk at first, I'm not gonna deny that. but i think she did have character growth after meeting Jesse. the only thing that was weighing on her was the cops who were trying to restrict her from being herself, so I'm sure she would have definitely gotten a lot better once she went to the real world with Jesse. also "entitled"? i don't know where you got that from, i understand the angry part but when was she being entitled?

I understand from an emotional perspective why people hate the train so much in this scene, but from an engineering perspective, Lake is 100% in the wrong here. The train is a machine through and through. It can't see Lake or process her because it just wasn't built that way. You can't take a washing machine meant for washing clothes and expect it to recognize one of its own bolts as an item meant for washing. I know this is a dumb analogy but I think It gets my point across. As much as we like to humanize One One, he's only an AI guided by math and logic. It made me angry when Lake attacked the porters, as they are just doing their job and physically can't help Lake. To them, she's another component of their system. It's not as though they define her that way on purpose, it's purely because she logically is. Synthesized by the car production system, she is the same as any rail gear or projector bulb.

0:35 as sad as MT's fate is, am I the only one who lost a fair bit of sympathy for them when they said this? "I need this more than you." Um, how do you know that? Yes your life is hard MT but that doesn't give you the right to basically leave an innocent person stranded in an eldritch location with no way of returning home. EDIT: Not to mention their little temper tantrum when it didn't work out for them and their diminishing of the girl's trauma. You know, the girl whose number they tried to steal? Like, I know MT is tired of being treated as less than a person and they really want to get off the train, but their actions here could have seriously hurt multiple people.
im half sure that the person she pulled out of the pod has no number and is now fated to be stuck in the eldritch abomination forever- personally i like that lake is more willing to do selfish things because even though it makes her a worse person, it also makes her a cooler character
@@terra2ban I agree it would have been an interesting character flaw to expand on, but in the show no one really calls her out on it? The Mirror Police and One-One are the closest the story gets to someone who confronts her about her selfishness, but both are presented as antagonistic forces who don't really get her. It's frustrating, a bit, because the book was more than willing to rake Jesse over the coals for being too nice. Why not actually call out M.T. for being too much of a jerk? Have her learn that her suffering isn't an excuse to inflict suffering on others.
@@Justme-wm8vr I love the way you completely ignored the fact the series clearly showed this issues as flaws of Lake's characters and made Lake being punished by acting this way, never making it to be something good or to be rewarded. That Lake would never get anything done by acting this way. Nah, you gotta spell it out to the public! Make it more obvious for the kiddos lmaooo. If it isn't 100% said by a character, the show is making it to be ok. That's how writing works!! If mummy didn't come to nag on you, is it really character development? 😔

It was selfish (but no character is ever implied to be flawless anyway), but I'm sure One-One would've fixed it by just taping the passenger over again. With how long the train has existed it has probably dealt with number issues before
Maybe MT _not_ getting a number is a way of _treating her_ ? Maybe one of her negative personality traits is that she needs to feel accepted by others?
in the book 4 trailer, it's mentioned that "sometimes the number is part of the problem" which means that even if she had a need to feel accepted by others, she'd still have a number
Nobody is going to mention that MT was willing to leave a girl to her fate just to save herself? if they gave him a number it should be three digits because of what a bad person he sometimes becomes
