The introduction of doors literally every every meter Whoever takes the initiative of opening a door dies Older cods had no doors to promote fair play, recent cods are fucking dogshit
They say they don't want every map to cater to sweats, but that's just a cop-out. Border crossing is not noob friendly or alternative; it's an awful experience for everyone, irrespective of skill level.
@@Dillman2001 It's the same as "regardless", except it rules out the possibility that the thing you're ignoring could've been worth considering. People often confuse the two and end up saying "irregardless" 😂
Last I checked, casuals want fast action paced maps. Hence why the smallest maps are usually the most popular maps among casuals. Shipment, Nuketown, Das Haus, Shoot House, Rust are some of the more recent examples. The developers even know this given the frequency of small map playlists
Exactly people like to get kills not run for 30% of the time and then die, shipment is fun but once people get kill streaks it becomes a bit of a headache
Compare Scump’s videos pub stomping in blops2 vs now. He was more or less carefree in blops2 and just moved around the map winning every gunfight. Now, he’s pre-aiming literally everything, jumping around corners, checking every angle etc. There’s too many lines of sight and too little flow. And honestly, playing like that is exhausting. The game psychologically tries to force you to play like a casual in order to not lose your mind and give your thumbs early onset arthritis.
To better exaplain your point. The maps in BO2 were designed in a way to keep the players out in the open with minimal OP camp spots that were easy to counter. It's why players like the worm who found OP camp metas gained popularity, otherwise he would be hated like the newest mw2 campers. Even buildings and interiors were fairly open and most importantly well lit, so running into a room would be very easy to spot a camper. Mw2 (warzone) with it's "realism" unknowingly (?) caters to campers with sharp small and dark interiors literally where irl rats take cover. Thank god for drill charges where it feels like pouring water down a moles hole to force it out.
When I was a kid during WaW-MW3 I never had the patience to play SND, so I always played TDM, domination, demolition, HQ, kill confirmed, infected and gun game. Only as an adult did I realize that SND is top tier and always has been.
Only a few of the maps are even good for SnD. However, most the maps have a problem where one bomb site feels a lot more viable than the other in terms of defending.
i wouldn't go as far as to say that. if we had a more classic movement system like in cold war for sure but the adv movement would mess with the flow of some of those OG 3 lane maps.
@@rmw9420 That’s fair but tbh, there’s a huge charm is the classic movement, I feel like cod flows better when the movement is limited Each shooter needs their own identify, and cods was always the simple arcade shooter, now it’s trying to turn into tarkov or pubg movement combined with R6 and overwatch styled dlc/packs
They are casual friendly because they are designed for chaos. Three lane maps make for predictable battles which rewards pure gun skill. Modern COD maps are chaotic and unpredictable so they often times reward campers or lucky kills.
3 lane map is objectively good for 6v6 each lane can have 2 players from both sides to ensure a good gameplay flow you want more lanes? increase the player number above 6v6 simple as that
Listening to them you'd think they are putting in the max amount of effort into their maps and games in general yet when you play the games you find the maps getting worse and worse and the movement becoming slower and slower making the games last longer and become boring. Who do they have testing their games to decide these are the best options? Theyre either really stupid when it comes to what ppl think of their games or they love blowing smoke out of their ass as if we cant tell theyre lying.
I'm pretty sure they don't have to do that and make maps that cater to both casuals and hardcore fans, games like MW2 and BO2 come to mind when talking about these types of maps
@@blackonbothsides2882 these people don't get it. They'll just buy the next cod game and continue to scratch their greasy hair as to why it just gets worse. 😁
I remember when mw2 trailer came out everyone was saying its going to be the best cod. Theyll do the same this year and get everyone excited the cod community is stupid
@@JohnSmith-ti9uq rose tinted?? Nah I had a life during 2020 lol. I did play it a lil but not as much as 2021 and 2022. If the game was trash, that many people would not have played it. There were plenty of games to play that were available during that time. People obviously liked it if they played it
You made a lot of good points Birdman. I agree Blops2 had THE best map pool for competitive play. Nice comeback on that gameplay too. It was lookin bleak in the beginning.
@@jaweel6205 bro there’s patents for this thing there’s SBMM and EOMM (engagement optimized matchmaking) you can literally look it up again patented by ACTIVISION. there’s no money is only selling your game once.. why not use a gambling system sell you half the game and give you a few wins and loses too keep you engaged with the game. Literally manipulates you game play as you play. Google it.
@@DazedRose115 how can you say the people that created the three lane split maps are bad map designers when out of it came alot of amazing casual and competitive maps, some considered to be the best maps in the cod franchise?
As a 10+ year old COD player, no shit the maps were made for casuals, lol. Anybody with a brain and 1 working eyeball would figure that one out. These new gen of devs ain't it. IW and SHG need to clear house top to bottom. It's funny on how treyarch comes in like superman and save their game, time and time again, but they still manage to F it up, lol.
it doesn't personally come as a surprise that a big company only cares about making money. however it might come as a surprise to the call of duty community considering their record of buying a game they don't like year after year
I don't know why this is surprising. Cod has always been made for casuals. I'm not entirely sure but I think Cod is the only major game that bans equipment because of how unbalanced it is. Casuals use to just have to get shit on until they didn't anymore same thing as the older sibling destroying their younger sibling until they got good. But now developers are coddling and sheltering casuals with poor map and game design and as a result the entire game suffers.
@@jordanmw2703 it’s the same thing with rich people if no matter how you get it people will complain and anything that happens bad to them is celebrated because they don’t work hard or do anything other people did to either get better or get rich.
@@jordanmw2703bad players actually like sbmm. U guys just gotta look at it from a maximizing profit perspective and it makes sense why cod is the way it is now.
It’s fine to cut out maps from warzone if they work. But clearly these dudes are under pressure to make multiplayer and warzone so they make warzone, then take free maps from it, then make a couple special maps so it doesn’t all seem copied then call it good.
Reminds me about a month after apex legends dropped, the devs at Respawn Entertainment made a video doing a snippet history of developing all the (launch) characters, and they literally said ‘We made Bangalore for newer weaker players’ and it made me laugh every time i saw a LFG post where they always had the two bitch characters ‘taken’
Forgot if he mentioned but al bagra is literally the worst for domination as well like if you spawn at C good luck getting out of the spawn trap if you can’t push to A or hold B it’s absolutely ridiculous
This is nothing new, they said the same about the cluttered maps in Mw2019 with their safe spaces. The reality of the situation is these games are no longer made for long time fans of the series and are made to cater to the new age Fortnite crowd who came into gaming the past 5 years.
Ever time I hear a watch a Bitdman video about the Cod and the developers I draw 1 conclusion imagine how good Cod would be if the Splatoon developers made it
MW2019 is when they stopped trying to make good maps and decided to focus more on making maps that are chaotic. Chaos=Noob gets lucky kills. It also makes the games feel worse but we all know they only care about milking casuals these days. Basically the FPS industry has been taken over by noob devs and greedy suits.
Pros have been brought in many times before and it's always the same. Give their opinion, nothing changes for the better. Aches for example said this once. It's usually not the actual devs who don't want to receive and implement criticism, that blame belongs to the higher ups. It's all about money. Yeah CDL makes money but barely. Casuals are and will probably be the wave for a long time. Sucks but that's the way it is.
COD is purposely designed so that *anyone* can pick it up and play it, this also includes veteran players. Leaving them out in favor of hand holding noobs and new players rather than letting them naturally improve is a terrible design philosophy that should have never made it past testing.
@@venommagnus devils advocate again: that's every product in existence. Trying to appeal more to a younger consumer base in order to gain them as a long term one.
@@ceufrscio707 It appeals and caters to the less skilled player base and subsequently fails to captivate the same player once he improves, or any player that strives to improve; from a game structure sense and a gameplay sense (namely map design, perk system SBMM).
(TL;DR if it ain't broke, don't fxcking fix it) Of course it was made for casual players. Everything in the game is. The Camo grind, the maps, sbmm, how fast the ttk is, dead silence, footsteps. All that mess is for casuals. Casual players don't care about their performance, and once they do care about their performance - they're already committed enough to stick around if the game is good enough. That's how so many people grew up and stuck with the franchise for so long. If it isn't broke - don't fxcking fix it.
Modern warfare: *Safespaces, we want a safe space for players in a VIDEO GAME* Modern warfare 2022: *We want casuals to enjoy the maps, having a million lanes they could camp we are so proud of what we did.*
making maps for casuals isn’t the issue, not everyone is playing to necessarily win all the time so whatever. it’s when you make maps for casuals who also play in the most boring and slow play style for a mobile, always 100% accurate shooter. edit: what i mean by mobile and 100% accurate is to contrast it with games like valorant and csgo where moving decreases accuracy and instead of recoil there are spray patterns.
Then developers don't understand it, considering this new phenomenon the last couple of games where the time limit is reached so much more often then it used it in modes like TDM and FFA.
Infinity Ward really be hiring anyone that wants to work there regardless if they actually know what they're doing. No wonder their games have been terrible since 2011. Can't wait to see what Vince Zampella does with Battlefield.
Gee, no wonder I hate these maps so much. The maps are made for people that have never played a COD game and actually tried to get better before. It gets so tiring to constantly check angles, doors, rooms, etc. on every map for every engagement. Really the best way to play these maps is to pre-aim always, move slowly, bhop corners, and then pitch a tent when you get to a decent spot. I can't get into this MP like I could with older CODs.
Can’t wait until they develop a dlc progression system, battlepass level ups, and a new type of match making that will balance out how good you are doing so you are constantly edged. Surely gamers wouldn’t let themselves be edged constantly for overpriced games.
It's funny because people talk shit about developers and the decisions they make but they don't know anything about game development. And then when the devs break the silence all anyone does is continue to talk shit. No wonder they never want to bother with talking to the community.
just stop defending them and if you want to be specific then the head devs or corporate. regardless still a shit team and games. There is no excuse for the cash grab and mediocrity they put out. If you really deny that then the argument is completely over.
Warzone and middle aged dads who don't have thumbs who buy cod for the name sake really saved that shit development team. Every other massive game globally is based off competitive. Competitive maps play great for casual gameplay. It's not a hard concept to understand. The most beloved maps in cod history nearly all were played competitively.
They got the data from the pro players. They always brag about how strong their data collection is , it tracks all guns you use the guns you don't use the paths you take. So they damn well know which bombsites are being used the most on each map and they just aren't doing shit about it because it would force them to admit , they don't know how to make maps. Its why they got a bunch of cheaters runniing around in MP ranked and Warzone ranked, literally the top 250 Warzone probably got the most amount of streamers with hours of sus footage at this point from verdansk to now, but the devs won't do shit about it because it will force them to admit they are incompetent in finding and dealing with cheaters, if infact some of these highly visible players actually turn out to be cheating .
This is why IW has been making shit maps since ghosts. They didn’t learn in both 2013 or 2019. That’s why Treyarch is superior in making good games & hood maps.
The maps wouldn’t be dog shit if the spawns actually make fucking sense if we push into the opponents spawn it shouldn’t mean that they spawn right on the next corner
