In This short tutorial i have tried to explain the concepts in granulomatous inflammation, which includes the role and functions of macrophage/histiocytes, the composition of granuloma, the different types of giant cells we encounter in nphysiological and pathological conditions and finally concluded with few examples of granulomatous inflammation.
Inflammation is response OF a issue to an injurious agent!

Hi great information, I have a reoccurring pyogenic granuloma in my buttock area and it always flares around my menstrual cycle time and then goes down. I've had it on and off for more than a year.

Can you explain more your situation? I developed a horrific swelling in ribcage after C3-C7 ACDF but no one has been able to diagnose the ribs swelling, or I should say "WILL" also developed psuedogout in my wrist, being hit by every angle. One thing i want to know! What will be the fate of microbes for which granuloma is formed????????? Does epitheloid cells contains microbes within it or just covered the microbes???? I want to know details about this! Plz suggest me a book or anyone explain

They will be phagocytosed and eventually be killed! They will be inside the modified histiocytes in the beginning... However when the cell dies..the dead microbes will be seen outside unless the whole bacterial cell wall is degraded... Hope i could make you understand

good question. The cells are formed from fusion of many cells by a very complex mechanism. the cell membrane too fuse and forms a single unit.. the cytoplasm fuses but not the nuceli.. hence it remains "multinucleated" with a large volume of "fused"cytoplasm and a membrane. in short it does have a distinct membrane !
