So we’ve been going out at Poole harbour for a while on our inflatable sib boat.
Todays is the first time we are attempting to fish from the boat out at sea.
Fishing from the boat is something I’ve been desperate to try but haven’t until today because I was worried about catching a hook in the boat!!!!
We’ll just have to be super careful, lol!
Let’s se if we get any joy and catch a big one!!!
We need your help!!!!
Watch our video and see is you can offer us any advice on how to get fish on our hooks???

hi Budgie ; i spent a few years going out from baiter point in the 1990s and fishing etc , in my 18 foot fletcher cruisette and rebuilt 85hp suzuki [ i still ave it parked up out the back] . under the cardinal bouy near the jetty at brownsea isl has a few fish sometimes if you troll round it but i usually got them from the side closest to the land . there is a beautifull beach to moor up and go on just round the corner to the left of the jetty about 100m away , crystal clear water and gets the sun for most of the day , they allways had a box there which you put a fiver in to anchor up and use the beach , although if you belong to national trust you can anchor up and go on beach for free . as for big mackerel , they are in the deeper water past swanage , just go past swanage and look for the "mile markers" on the cliffs , fish up and down along that bit of coastline [ durlston bay] almost to hengitsbury head , youll see the area of a long strip of big boulders running down the cliff side . i think it was around 65 feet depth there , you need to be a good couple of miles out or so ie you can see boats by cliffs but not see whose in them . silver and red shiny feathers worked for me . for flounder and dabs when tide is up we used to fish off the wall on the shore road B3369 near lilliput pier , there is a large concrete pad in the sand not too far out , to the left of the pier and sailing club , we also walked out in the water in summer and could catch the odd bass on a spinner . good luck with your trips out . ps i was rescued once by the swanage lifeboat when i lost all power after my engine seized and my donkey engine wouldnt push me against the tide , those lads on that lifeboat came hairing out around the point , jumping the waves , did all they could to assist me , great bunch of people in swanage including the fella hiring out the boats who helped me too , also i had no charge from the fellas on the slipway to pull my boat out , suffice to say i donated some funds though . great watching youre films and seeing the funny bits , very interesting indeed and also entertaining not to mention seeing the waters eye view of the places i passed over myself that you also go to . cheers ian

Just a tip, give your outboard a run the day before you go out and when it’s running just pull the kill cord. The carb will be primed ready for your trip and should start 1st pull

Hiya Budgee. Looks like you enjoyed your first trip out this year. Fish are always thin on the ground this early in the year unless you go further out. You will certainly catch on the lures in time or as in the comments try some bait. Enjoyed the video 👍👍👍👍

I would talk to your local fishing shop, they will help you with local marks to fish. They want you succeed as it means you will be a repeat customer. 95% of the fish are in 5% of the sea. Also the parking apps are fantastic , takes 20 secs to pay once set up :)

The slipway location is at Poole quay. The slipway car park is called Baiter park. If you Google it you should find a postcode for it. It’s a great area for boating and they have wash down taps available to use so you can flush and wash your engine and boat down. It’s about £9 to park without a trailer for the whole day and £15 with a trailer! Thanks for watching, I hope that helps you out!!!😁

Hi biker budgee, do you mind me asking what the length of your shaft is on your 15 hp outboard as I have a 2004 8 hp and been told that it’s 18” and will be to deep in the water.
@Budgee197
@Budgee197 2 года назад
Hi Peter, thanks for watching and supporting our channel 😁
@Budgee197
@Budgee197 2 года назад
My Tohatsu 15hp is 15 inches. Typically a long shaft is 20 inches. Your somewhere in the middle with 18inches. I’d say that was more on the short shaft side of things and would probably be fine for a short transom. Best thing would be to measure the transom when the boat arrives or just give the engine a trial on the boat when it arrives. You will soon know if it is ok or not. The engine will seem really under powered if it’s not right. The will be a bit of tolerance but not by much. Like I said just give it a go and see how it is. That all I can say really. I’m no expert and I wouldn’t want to give you false information so if your not sure then just check with your boat manufacturer I’m sure they they’d be able to answer that question better than me!
@simonfrewin5734
@simonfrewin5734 2 года назад
Have you tried getting out in the deep with the wheels down and then trying to do them whilst you're in the boat? Saves the lifting although was a bit of a pain on mine as the air in the wheels float up in the opposite direction so you do have to fight against that :-)
@simonfrewin5734
@simonfrewin5734 2 года назад
Could have sold that fuel and doubled your money 😂 I always throw mine left overs in the wifes car but 8 months should be ok.
@Budgee197
@Budgee197 2 года назад
I usually do do that but I didn’t want to get my shorts wet and be damp n cold all day. Yes it is easier doing the wheels in deeper water 100%. The water was so cold and we just needed to stay dry as possible!
@Budgee197
@Budgee197 2 года назад
My other half and I both had diesel cars so I can’t put it in the cars. I did try and put some in my lawnmower but it didn’t even dent the amount I had in the boats fuel tank. The boat ran fine with that fuel anyway so there was no drama. Thanks for watching and supporting our channel. I’m always grateful for any feedback as well so a big thumbs up for the advice 👍😁

Hiya Budgie where did you get the rubber Skeg protector for your outboard
@Budgee197
@Budgee197 2 года назад
It’s actually a dogs toy called a kong. It’s designed to put pet treats inside,lol! It just happened to fit perfectly on the bottom of my engine so I kept it on to protect the bottom from scuffs. It works a treat!!!!! You could try Google and search for a kong, there hundreds of different types and sizes. Mum mum bought the one I have for her dog and she let me steal it for a good cause, lol! I’ll have a look myself now for you and see if I can find something.

Little tip put a small length of waste pipe fixed inside the boat at the corner of the transom as a rod holder works well Also buy sone cheap waders from Amazon. Also there is a lot of nonsense talked about old fuel I have some that is 4 years old in old 2 strokes and that runs them fine. As you said how are you supposed to get rid of it

@Budgee197
@Budgee197 2 года назад
I’ve got a ladder. It’s made of the same material as a car seat belt and it connects to the grab rope on the tubes. It’s almost impossible to get back in the boat without the ladder unless your super fit. As you can see from our videos I’m not as fit as I used to be,lol!🥴 I’ll send a link to the ladder I’ve got. boatworld.co.uk/webbing-ladder

The paddle tails are fine no need to go heavy but don't trawl them cast and retrieve but let them sink down once u cast them the slow retrieve stop let it sink then retrieve and so on or jig vertical straight down but in a sib probably better casting away from the boat your get a half decent cast off a 15g soft plastic lure just experiment with cast and retrieve iv never been a fan of trawling! Also you gotta get decent lures with a good action look for one called fish black minow or anything by savage gear the do sandeal imation soft plastics! And mackerel fathers again cast and retrieve but alternate with speed and stop start etc
