Three things... 1. So what? Why change things? You know money decreases in value so don't hold money. 2. What if there was a magical way that the value of money stayed the same. In 1959 the M1 supply was $139 billion so today we'd have that same M1. That's $417 for every American. A new car would cost about 5 cents. A loaf of bread would cost...oops...a penny would buy several truckloads of bread. So I guess we'd have to create new currencies like the One Millionth Penny. You end up doing the same thing we do now, print more currency. The only thing that changes is the number on the currency. Keeping the denominations the same for long periods make it easy for most people. We have to print more currency as we print more people just as a logistical matter. 3.Prices do increase in real terms for many items. Prices decrease for many items in real terms. Oil has gotten more expensive to pull out of the ground and reserves are falling. There is absolutely no way to keep the price of oil at a fixed price forever. The price of green cabbage at Walmart today is exactly the same price it was in 2018 so in real terms the price of green cabbage has fallen 25%. I guess farmers have gotten more efficient or were making a lot of profit in 2018.

History is full of examples of what happens when Monarchs, Elites or Governments do not Listen to the People. Most Countries in Western Europe, and certainly America and Russia went through periods of civil unrest as a result, and, arguably, became better for it, but History does have a habit of Repeating itself.

I'm 67. Been hearing about the end of the world my entire life. Going back in history it's a common theme to manipulate people. Things have "hit the fan" at times in parts of the world. But it's a long shot bet. Betting on things getting better has given a better return which increases wealth which can better prepare a person for the fan getting hit events.

I keep hoping foolishly that "people" will wake to the fact that politicians HAVE to say what voters want to hear or they don't get elected. We DEMAND politicians lie to us. We DEMAND our spouses lie to us. We DEMAND companies lie to us. None of these systems work without the lies we demand. But I doubt seriously someday "people" will want to hear reality. Reality is complex and who has time for that when our time could be better spent laying on the couch watching TV?

True. However, if there is a crisis and you are hungry, a bag of potatoes could easily cost you an ounce of gold which was worth a few thousand potato bags shortly before. As long as I can buy plenty of storable goods with the "printed paper" I am still able to generate now, I´ll do that.

Let's be very clear about one thing. The "market" has been massively wrong on what the Fed should do with the funds rate for at least 2.5 years now. In early 2022 before the Fed even started hiking, the market was already forecasting rate cuts to happen by end of 2022. The market at the start of 2024 had 7 rate cuts for 2024. Laughable to suggest the Fed is the one that has been getting this wrong. It has proven out that they were right to start hiking in early 2022, aggressively ramp up that funds rate, and then keep it at the terminal rate until now. Also, the Fed on numerous occasions has stated that a recession will likely occur as a result of this hiking cycle. The market consensus has been no or soft landing, which is another thing they will be massively wrong on...........I've been engaged in active trading and managed to grow a nest egg of around 140k to a decent 539k....I'm especially grateful to Sandy Barclays, whose deep expertise and traditional trading acumen have been invaluable in this challenging, ever-evolving financial landscape.

I have friends who are formally educated. I've tried to tactfully tell them that they need to swap some of their paper debt notes for real money and they look at me like I'm dumb. When I posed a scenario that one day he would wake up and the 100 dollar bills that we all love would be worthless and he told me that I was obtuse about money. I just shut my mouth and changed the subject. These people will wake up one day and the facts will slap them in there face. I kinda feel sorry for these people, but then sometimes I really don't. What happened last Monday will happen again somewhere else in the world, maybe the fixers will be able to stop it, maybe they won't. At some point it spirals out of control.

I was taught about money supply and fractional reserve lending ( otherwise you could never borrow to buy a house) at secondary school to allow expansion of the economy. Over supply would cause inflation so the gov had to be careful...decades later the gov needs inflation to reduce debt payments so the printing press is full steam ahead.

Let's not forget either that every time a bank issues a loan, mortgage, or line of credit that that currency is created out of thin air off the back of the signature of the customer whilst the security is simultaneously traded. Hyperinflation is already here, we just aren't seeing the subsequent price rises...yet. P.S. This support for precious metals ceases to be an intellectual exercise once you realize; 1. US minimum wage was 5 silver quarters ($1.25) in 1963. 2. Those 5 silver quarters are worth $23.50 now. 3. US CPI calculations say that $1.25 is only worth $10.81 today 4. The $12.69 difference has gone to the top 1%. The money changers have been screwing us for 100 years.

Murray Rothbard wrote, “The rate of interest is the price of ‘time.’” It’s safe to say the world’s central banks have manipulated and mispriced what time is worth. Mario great content thanks. Nuggets of knowledge in every podcast. I tell the story of infatuation and taxes this way. On one side of me I have a neighbor his name is government he steals 90% of the stuff every year. My other neighbor his name is central bank. He tells me he’s going to steal 2%, but he steals 5% to 8%. Now I must be a little slow, but when I figured it out I converted everything to gold and silver. Ever since then they get a little cream off the top but that it no more.

I found this interesting... Maybe you will too. There's a collection of books and in the first one there's a garden. The garden creator put gold in it. And called it "good". Why would he put it in there... Reference it and call it good... When there were only 2 people on earth at the time? There were no stores or reasons to use it as money... Yet it was good even then.

Would not inflation rise or the cost of something rise if that item was in short supply. Let's say wheat. There are untold variables that influence price action on a commodity totally separate from the creation of debt. Supply and demand, and that is across everything we purchase.

Having struggled my way through the Fourth Turning, the latest one , I have been waiting to start Moneta, The history of ancient rome in 12 coins, love the idea of the book however have only started the first couple of pages , always surprises me how little progress was made from the fall of Rome to the mid 1700s or thereabouts, makes you wonder if we could end up in a similar situation in the human future. Anyway I should be reading really and not typing here I guess 😂
