Infrared + IR Chrome Filter

So cool you mention the "being easily bored" part in the beginning already. That's what happened to me, after many years of normal light photography. I didn't want to show the world the same subjects over and over again, I wanted to be creative and discover new subjects, colours, ideas. Now I shoot IR since 2018 with a converted camera and I never touch my normal camera anymore - (unless I need to shoot portraits and document some events of course). Creating a unique artwork out of these red RAW files feels like being a stone mason, chisseling away the rock you don't need in your sculpture, I love that about IR. Also that there is no "right or wrong" anymore - we are free to explore and nobody can say "Yeah, but the grass is supposed to look green." - Nope, it doesn't! 😄

I have an IR camera and the Kolari Chrome filter.. I NEEED to use this more. Whatta cool video. When I bought it I didn't have a good macro lens, but I do now. gonna break this out

I can relate a lot to the feeling of not getting better, of improvement feeling slow to the point of being nearly imperceptible. Certainly, bouncing between precision and chaos/experimentation as you say can help a lot with this, to keep you shooting regardless of how you feel about it. For me, I felt a shift in my mentality when I started seeing other artists talk about the disconnect between their technical skill and their eye for good art (in this case, photography.) There will be periods where I feel like I'm moving fast and improving significantly, where I get kind of cocky about my growth. Then, periods where my artistic eye seemingly knows more than my hands do, where everything falls below an ever rising self-imposed standard of quality. Anyway, I wanted to say I really appreciate the videos you make. You take wonderful photos and your commentary is always very thought-provoking, making me think about what I'm doing with my own infrared work, why it matters to me. I hope the algorithm picks this stuff up more, it's crazy to me that this only has a hundred or so views, even given how niche the subject is relative to the broader photography scene.

I also converted my Sony A7II to full spectrum. I use the Kolari IR Chrome Lite clip-in filter and Kase IR720nm filter. I purchased an UV-IR block H-alpha pass from Kolari for astrophotography. This filter brings back the normal colors to your camera with custum WB. You can check Kolari website to see the availability of the filter. I also noticed that the Kolari IR chrome clip-in and also the UV-IR cut filters from Kolari have a lees flaring issue than the Kase IR720nm. As I remember, Kolari also sell a hot mirror filter (the filter that is removed for full spectrum conversion). It should be a practical solution to use only one camera for visible and infrared.

I once upon a time ordered two such filters from Kolari for different diameters. One was sent, the other did not arrive, and they refused to return the money. I lost more than 200 dollars out of the blue. By the way, I also have Full-Spectrum Canon. I really love shooting all these IR things

Hi. I like your photos. Recently I converted 2 cheap p&s cameras to full spectrum. Fixed a 850 permanently to one of them for b&w images, and fixed a step up filter ring to the other for different IR filters to play with. Would you recommend which IR filters to achieve similar photos like yours in this video? Thanks…

I also dislike editing. I love the zooming in and out tho.. ;-)

Nice photos. I don’t like editing much either I like to get SOC shots that look great. What lens are you using?
