Thanks for the comment. That's true. I've tried a variety of support ideas. The flame needs to be a specific distance from the warming plate in order to maintain a consistent temperature of the coffee. This one has the added benefit of becoming flat for storage. I have used the side of a can cut down to this height as a windscreen outside. It keeps wind from disturbing the flame nicely. The strip of can surrounding the screen also directs and concentrates more of the heat to the warming plate. Plus I like seeing the light from the flame of the little "oil lamp" when wind isn't a factor
