This is too much work. Just put a plaster on your finger, throw the spool on the ground and wind it up. Just keep the line tight with the finger with plaster on . Done.

I just put the fishing line spool on a flathead or Phillips head screwdriver and then add a single rubber band around the metal of the screwdriver. This holds the string tight and then I pinch each end of the screwdriver with my feet reel it in. Super easy

Need something you can hold on the line while it's winding, not enough tension.
