Excellent, informative comparison. Quentin Tarantino said, "I think, in the future, Inglorious Basterds will be more well-regarded that Pulp Ficiton." I'm starting to think so, too.
It’s amazing how he goes from being the most evil and conniving nazi, to being a good hearted bounty hunter who helps a slave become a badass. Just shows his range is impeccable.
This was an excellent video. I prefer Django: Unchained, and it is my favorite Tarantino movie (and perhaps my all-time favorite movie), but there's no denying how good Inglourious Basterds is. Both are expertly crafted movies, definitely two of Tarantino's best. Perhaps this has to do with the fact that they both contain Christoph Waltz, a phenomenal actor.
Both movies are in my top 5 movies of all time, but I always count them as 1 movie. They are both AMAZING, very similar and different in many ways. I really disagree with the author if this clip though. I think plot is better in Bastards, as it’s more complex and involves multiple storylines. I think villain is a no brainer -Dicaprio . He KILLED it as Candy. Landa had way less screen time, and he wasn’t really that much of an antagonist, considering he sort of killed Hitler and all the nazi high command. As much as I don’t like comparing the two films, I would give a slight advantage to Django over Basterds. Djangi is just a flawless movie.
I like the simple nature of Django Unchained more than Inglorious Basterds. In Django you get to really know the characters and I think altogether it just flows better. I think that Inglorious Basterds definitely wins every category you set up but I like Django slightly more because I think it’s more character driven
Django has more of a traditional character arc for the protagonist(s). But in my opinion, the protagonists of Inglourious are more interesting and dynamic.
I think, if it comes to the bigger picture then Basterds is definitely a better film than Django. It provides a great Revenge Western mixed up with a B-movie style comedy. It's so rich of symbolism, tension, superb acting and cinematic greatness and all that is masterfully linked together with Waltz's character. Django however is to one half just an OK Buddy-Western while the second half is again Tarantino at his best, when the full scam against Candie starts. The dinner scenes and the resulting impact are maybe even superior than much of IB, but the overall final act of Django is a little bit forced. So Basterds definitely takes the White Cake for me !
I definitely agree with you on the final act of Django. It just seems like the film could have ended sooner, had she not have needed the rescue, while still being just as good of a film.
I agree Django felt like a cartoon movie than a revenge film Inglourious felt more satisfying and used actual history to revisionize it.Django just felt like a cash cow to get black people's money.
As someone who speaks English, how are you going to give the dialogue to Bastards when over half the movie you don’t understand the dialogue if it wasn’t for subtitles. So django should of won that one just off of my point alone . I want to watch a movie not read a movie .
ALTHOUGH I LIKE BOTH FILMS DJANGO IS THE BETTER FILM BC INGLORIOUS BASTERDS YOU KNOW COULDN’T HAVE HAPPEN WHEREAS DJANGO COULD HAVE HAPPENED AND BESIDES THAT WESTERNS AND SLAVERY MOVIES ARE WAY MORE INTERESTING THAN WAR AND HOLOCAUST MOVIES
hmmm my only reservation on that is that Kevin Smith has been around far longer and has a much longer filmography, which makes me worry about how evenly matched it would be
I don't know. Without the story of Shoshanna, I think the movie would feel more one dimensional. Her motivations are far more explored and she grows more as a character than any of the basterds
@@BirdsEyeViewMedia yes. She is a great character .I only didn't like the conversations about the theater stuff. It slows down the movie. We have many other interesting characters like landa. They should given more screentime to the basterds as it's the name of the movie. We never got to know much about the basterds
I think I'm the only one with Inglorious Basterds at the bottom of my Tarantino movies list. It is very good, but not as good as any of his other works (except jackie brown and death proof, which I haven't seen yet)
