Wow, groundbreaking recipe Ingrid! You boiled noodles, cooked chicken, and put on some pesto that you bought from a store! You truly are a real chef, you deserve to be on food network with these kinds of recipes.
Why did I watch this video late at night when I'm hungry?! Ingrid I'm a pesto freak so I love this recipe, actually thinking about trying it tonight! It reminds me of a meal I got over at naples in downtown disney but instead of chicken it had shrimp. Love your videos ingrid, everything you do is so well put together. Perfection :)
I just made this recipe-LOVED IT! I highly recommend making this. It took me literally 20 minutes and it turned out great! I used poultry seasoning and brown rice pasta was surprisingly easy to find. SUPER GOOD!
My thoughts exactly xD If that's what Americans call cooking then they should see how women around the rest of the world really cook. Even the pesto is ready made, although it's super easy for one to make their own pesto at home...meh.
Allison I didn't mean to offend u or anyone else I just don't think that Americans in their majority know how to properly cook.that doesn't apply to everyone ofc but still as far as I know most Americans call throwing prepackaged stuff into a pot cooking. Which is kinda painful to watch.
Crista Exon My sister likes to eat pre-made food. She calls it cooking. Which is microwaving food. D: I will sometimes correct her and say she is not cooking and she will get offended.
I love how people are complaining about how she threw together some chicken, pasta and store bought sauce. To you haters, at least she cooked!! You are probably at McDonalds right now eating your Big Mac while she is at home from a long day and still bothers to eat something healthier. Too the people complaining about how she bought her pesto did she not just explain that this was a QUICK recipe that she made after a long day? And those who want to complain about her buying chicken. Would you like her to go to a farm and buy chicken and then come home and cut it up for you? It's not like she bought preseasoned and precooked chicken. Don't even get me started on the fact that you want to complain about the store bought pasta. How would you like it if I made you come home and make homemade pasta after a long day of work? Making homemade pasta is a long process. Some of you disrespectful people just need to stop. If you don't like the food then just don't simply comment. If you want to compare her to Brandy go watch Brandy. First you complain you want EASIER recipes and she gives you an easy recipe then you go and complain that this is TOO EASY and she just slopped together some store bought food. Can you ungrateful trolls not complain for like 1 video because it seems like all you know how to do is complain and be disrespectful. Get a life and stay off the computer. Thank you
Why are people hating on Ingrid? Yes, making your own pesto is healthier because you ensure there are no chemicals/nasty stuff but buying pesto is okay.
If she were to talk very fast then people will hate all the same Also because she is giving instructions so people like me can write them down and follow along :D
Alexandra Meier yeah I agree with you. Its a simple recipe, but she emphasized it like it is a hard recipe. I thought she was gonna make her own sauce lol
Hello-xl this is the 2nd video of hers that you have commented on and it was that she's a slow talker if it bothers you so much than just don't come to the videos if all your going to do is hate.
The comments on this video are so pretentious and snobby. 1.)These videos are catered to an audience that may not be as familiar to cooking. So to all who are complaining about how "basic" they are, nowhere does she claim to be a gourmet chef. Even the simplest of recipes can be helpful to people who genuinely are not good at cooking or are starting out. 2.) Pesto IS healthy for you- all of the ingredients in it are good for you, so long as you don't overdo it. Olive oil, basil, nuts.. these are all ingredients that are healthy. People on RU-vid seem to be under the notion that if a recipe isn't just lean meat and vegetables, that it can't be healthy at all for you which is nonsense. You will not get enough calories in your diet if every single meal of the day was simply lean meat and vegetables. She even used a healthier pasta, and lean chicken which are both good for you. 3.) She could have made her own pesto, but again, it's a basic recipe and she mentioned that it was meant to be quick. And for those flipping out, none of the ingredients in the pesto she used had any chemicals, preservatives, or junk in it. It was all healthy ingredients. Yes, it can be better to make your own, BUT using packaged can be healthy if it's the right kind. You would be flat-out lying if you claimed that every single meal you make does not contain SOME kind of packaged food. Weeding out packaged food and limiting it is best, but not all is bad for you. Reading labels and being smart about it can be healthy.
I make a similar dish, but I make alfredo and mix it in with the pesto. The sauce ends up being super creamy and delicious, perfectly paired with the chicken. :)
She actually can cook. But for beginners this is an easy recipe to teach and majority of the people are probably learning :) She even said it was simple :)
Wow the comments are so mean! Tbh I came across these videos because I'm learning how to cook and these recipes are WAY BETTER than what my Hispanic relatives make. My full Peruvian aunt boils some noodles and adds some better or cooks beef on a skillet and puts it in a tortilla and calls it a freaking day. I made her bacon Mac n cheese and my family and friends loved it. Thank you Ingrid
missglamorazzi Sometimes I dont feel like cooking either so I have been slow cooking chicken in the crock pot with seasoning and chicken broth. Then I break it up into pieces and I have chicken for the week for pastas or chicken salad or other recipes. Great idea for us busy girls :)
stop the hate, people! do you think Ingrid feels any good about reading your comments? she is not playing a chef and never was, she is just showing her favorite recepies and thats it!
+Louise 508 She explained that she started using that pesto during a challenge she was doing. Maybe she just really likes that kind of pesto and doesn't really care about trying the Dairy Free kind. If you paid attention she also explains why she uses brown rice pasta instead of white or whole wheat. It all came from her healthy life style challenge.
+Louise 508 if you had been listening u would know that she's not dairy free anymore. i don't understand why you think just cuz someone uses something thats dairy free, they automatically just can't eat any kind of dairy. this is probably the stupidest comment I've seen in a while.
I think that homemade pesto would be definitely healthier than the packaged one :) it's very quick and simple to make, and if you have good ingredients it will be definitely tastier!
But like.. you don't have to like the recipes she produces and she knows she isn't a professional cook - she just likes to share what she eats. If you don't like what she does that's fine, but what do you get out of calling her a "joke" or being rude? You literally just look pathetic trying to be mean to someone over the internet. If her technique is wrong, there are always ways to correct it nicely. If you don't like it - close the video! It costs nothing to be nice.
the best part was her long winded explanation of why she gets the dairy free pre-made pesto, when she could have easily made it herself. seeing as this is a cooking video, not an 'assemble a bunch of stuff' video and all.
wait I don't get it. you didn't cook anything? is pouring sauce on pasta considered cooking? huh? and you added parmesan cheese after going on about the dairy free pesto? what is this? also, it takes three minutes to make pesto.also, if this is a lazy day, eat cereal. don't call this a recipe. this is dumb get a real cook/chef for this popsugar!!
if you want it to be homemade (literally) you could kill your own chicken, skin it, make sure it looks healthy, then follow all steps above with your own pesto. Oh and you may have to look up how to get pepper. I am really not trolling but thats basically what you are saying. sorry.
U probably eat pre made frozen food that u just microwave and call it homemade. At least she is cooking unlike you who is lazy and makes people cook for u
Although a lot of her recipes look good, they are not healthy. Pesto is high in fat. She made a 600 calorie "healthy" breakfast sandwich and a 600 calorie oatmeal.
my family always put peas in and wilted some spinach by placing the cooked pasta on top of the spinach and letting it sit for a little while, they are really yummy additions
THIS LOOKS DELICIOUS!!! Thank you for sharing I love your cooking videos your a natural chef. Going to make this now cause I have all the ingredients :)
I'm trying to sound like a hater but I'd say it's much healthier to make your own Pesto. Pretty much all you need is spinach, I live oil and maybe some parsley. You could also but sesame seeds in it if you wanted when putting it with pasta.
Sorry I meant basil not parsley. I also like putting spinach in with the pesto mix when I put it with pasta. I was suggesting it because it tastes nice. I'm not a chef.
The1andOnlyCiara I agree with you. Making your own pesto is so much better. Although the original recipe is with basil, olive oil, garlic, lemon juice, parmesan and pine nuts :)
While you can make your own pesto at home, people looking to use the traditional recipe with basil and pine nuts often do better buying a jar. This is because of the cost of pine nuts and basil. Additionally you want high quality parmesan and olive oil (since it's not olive oil used for cooking.) It's cheaper to buy it at a point.
I understand that, I was just saying. And also I know that it's not really the same thing as original pesto I just like it that way. But next time I'll try it with all of thoseingredients.
She's talking slow so people can follow the video at home while cooking. So when she was seasoning chicken, she did it slow so people can follow at home. Plus the food looks delicious.
Everyone is angry that she didn't make her own pesto but she said this is a recipe she makes when she doesn't feel like cooking a lot or doesn't have time
to the people complaining that she just threw ingredients together, didn't you hear her say that she makes this after a long day, when she doesn't want to do much work.
If you're trying to eat whole foods and be healthier, you should really research what's in your chicken. Watch Earthlings, then research meat, hormone levels, chemicals e.t.c. found in meat & dairy. Also, it's great that you get dairy free pesto, but you might as well have gotten the regular kind if you're going to put cheese on top of your pasta
I will check out Earthlings. I have watched Food Inc., A place at the table, Meat the truth, and some other documentaries. I buy organic, hormone and antibiotic free chicken and beef.
When you cook enough, the awkwardness goes away. Your movements become more natural and more habitual. Judging by her hands and how slow she moves and how awkward it is every time, she doesn't cook as much as she wants everyone to think. She even hired a professional cook when she invited the UK youtubers over.
Why do people put spices in those pinch bowls? Why not just take the container and shake it on the food? You waste half the spices, from putting your hands in there!
Well I'm sure she doesn't normally do that when she's cooking but since it's a show to teach new recipes I think that it makes more sense and it appears clearer and more organized. But maybe it's just me?
Some spices when you shake it, pour out a lot and you don't want to have concentrated salt in there. What I do is actually open the container and try to grab a pinch and then sprinkle it on the food :) just make sure hands are clean
It's called Poultry seasoning, (chicken is a type of poultry). It's really yummy and easy to find. It's in one of those small red containers made by McCormick. You can find it with all the other spices.
Chicken with "pasta al pesto" is blasphemy in Italy xD...and by the way, instead of buying pesto, it can be easily made at home ;) I still love Ingrid though!
Ingrid is a whole lot better than Rachel Ray. Rachel Ray is an arrogant bitch. She has to be everywhere and uses WAY too many ingredients in her recipes Rachel Ray could learn a lot from Ingrid.
Healu1102 God, what a delusional stan... LOL your comparing a PROFESSIONAL CHEF to some chick who makes a living off scamming gullible little girls through sponsored-up-the-ass YT videos (just like the rest of her sellout friends/fellow RU-vidrs). This whole "Ingrid Dishes" series is just her putting basic shit together that she found a recipe of on Pinterest or Instagram just like the rest of the big beauty gurus who do recipe videos.
Its funny how in a previous comment you tell people not to read the comments and then here you are throwing shade at her. Go throw love somewhere else :)
I usually just pick it up with a fork a little bit and take a look. You flip it over when it looks a bit like golden brown, not just white. It takes approximately 8-10 minutes to cook on one side. :)
if you close your hand and make a tight 'fist', feel the skin between your thumb and index finger. It should feel tight like your fist does. That is fully cooked. Hope that helps!
I don´t get why Ingrid didn´t make her own pesto - she talks about how she wants to know what is in the food she eats... if she made the pesto herself she would know what is in it!! Pesto only takes a few minutes to make... check out BENJIMANTV recipe for pesto: Pesto Recipe Ingredients 1. 2 1/2 Cups of Fresh Basil 2. 1 Cup of Parmesan 3. 1/4 Cup of Pine Nuts 4. 2-3 Cloves of Garlic 5. 1 Lemon 6. Lemon Zest (skin of lemon) 7. 3.4 Cup Olive Oil 8. Dash of Cayenne 9. Salt and Pepper to Taste Mix all ingredients in the processor except the olive oil. Then add the olive oil gradually. Save a little bit of parmesan cheese to mix together at the end into your Pesto.
That's nice but let me say this..I am Italian and the thought of puttig two pieces of chicken on top of pesto pasta makes me cringe :P Kind of the same thing when you guys in America use maccheroni and cheese as a side...doooon't hahaha pasta is pasta.
