I love the way she presents the clowns as 'the NORMS' in this music video and presents herself as 'the odd one out'. The message is clear and beautiful; basically saying that even though shes weird and not like the rest he still loves her no matter what. Its beautifully different and I love it.

2006/2007 were such pivotal times for me musically. before that i'd only ever listened to jingles and showtunes. this was my first music video I ever paid attention to on television. It was just so captivating, the sad somber visuals with such comforting lyrics.

I love this song, really great lyrics. My wife of over 30+ years in marriage gave me a music B-Day card with a clip of this song in the card. The song has a fantastic early 50's night club ensemble sound to it; plus I love the upright bass--a real mellow low end. So, I just had to listen to the whole thing. But most important are the lyrics. Thank you Ingrid Michaelson, for a beautiful song; your lyrics are the stuff of what makes a marriage or relationship last, like mine and my wife's.

Wow! I can't believe I finally found this song. I have been going crazy! Here is my story. On November 2nd 2019, I was leaving a restaurant with some family and friends. There were 8 of us. I was the youngest out of the bunch, not to say I am a young chicken. Before getting into our cars we were congregating outside of Blueberry Hill Restaurant. I hear this song come on and it took me by surprise, thinking wow, I haven't heard this song in a long time. Now, I was pretty sure that it was a song from sometime in the 21st century. That was all I knew. I asked my older brother "listen to this song. Do you know the name of it?)". I should have realized it was useless. He doesn't know many songs after 1980. Also, he didn't even hear any song. Just to test him I asked him if he heard the next song, which he did. It was a remake of an old 1960s song. Well, I left there with only 5 solid notes to the song in my head and the 5 lyrics I thought were "Take Me As I Am". All week I have been racking my brains. I went through dozens upon dozens of female artists on RU-vid, trying to locate the song I heard. I had even looked through an archive of Sirius XM, all with no luck. Then about an hour ago, in the early morning hours where I live, I decided to get the old Sound Hound app onto my new phone that arrived 2 days ago. I used to have it on my old phone but deleted it when the phone was running really slow. It was a Galaxy S4. Yes, I know, that is OLD! Well, after a few tries of humming the 5 notes that I knew, F# C# A# D# A#, there were no results. Then I tried adding another possible 5 notes C# D# C# B B. Then I saw 3 possible songs. The 3rd one, I believe was Ingrid Michaelson (The Way I Am) I felt an adrenalin rush before I even clicked on the song. As soon as I heard the first few notes of the song, I nearly had tears in my eyes. I LOVE THIS SONG!!! [EDIT] Actually, those sets of notes were in different keys, although, still close enough to detect the tune.

I’m often very hesitant to discover new music, but I heard this song on the radio one morning and looked it up as soon as I got home that afternoon. I fell in love with Ingrid Michaelson’s other songs and still am today.

So glad I had the chance to sang this song in a karaoke (first and last time) with someone I dearly loved. I hope you're happy up there, my Silly Wabbit, Eric Jansen. Loving you always.
