Inija Trinkuniene, the Krive of the Indigenous Baltic religion community of Romuva in Lithuania, addresses the Spotlight on Indigenous Peoples at the 2015 Parliament of the World's Religions in Salt Lake City, Utah on October 19th.
This is beautiful!!! I’m half Russian half Armenian and both Russia and Armenian are experiencing a rise in the pre-Christian native pagan ethnic faiths!!!
@@adityaraj2447 due to lithuania's conservative (not political) language and culture, Lithuanian and romuva are found to be similar to vedic culture. I wouldn't say they are the same tho
As a European pagan myself, I welcome the love of my Hindu cousins! I personally have a copy of all four vedas, and I regularily use Mala when I meditate and they have been invaluable to my practice and allowing me to feel closer to the divine, thank you!
It's heart warming to see tht people are going back to th eroots , from where we all come from- If we see the idigenous religions and the spritual practices throughout th eworld are the same - The hindus from India, The zoroastrians from Persia, The khemets from Egypt, The Yezidis from Central Asia, The shamans from Siberia and Latin America, the Greeks , The Wiccans, The Vikings and so on . I really wish to take part in this great endeavour and dream that one day by going back to our roots we will find that the humanity is one and may be we will become one nation globally by establishing one spiritual practice throughout th eglobe ( by taking the common point that all these true spiritual practices worshipp and follow the nature , which is the true representation of the universal consciousness or gods). Apart from the fact that all these spiritual practices have fire , water, and stones as important ingredients of their rituals , they also practice witchcraft using plantsand polytheism. By witch craft I mean practicing medicine ,healing and bending of reality by utilizing the power of herbs and by polytheism i mean worshipping several representations of th eone GOD like the several elements of nature representing th emanifestations of these gods in physical reality concievable to humans . It's time that we all unite under one roof to get back the humanity on its track, save the mother earth from catastrophy and restore the balance and harmony between the creation and the universe. Long live Spirituality and long live humanity. Long live Romuva and my dear Lithuanians who keep it alive !
@@silverstone9952 It's an ancient Baltic tribes religion, which was the last pagan religion in the whole of Europe. Main good: Perkūnas, he watches over the world, and if people so something bad, he sends lighting and kills them. Praamžius(Dievas): is a god creator, he has created the world. Gabija: is a goddess of fire. Žemyna: Goddess of the crops, earth and she is a mother of the dead. Velinas(Velnias): the God of the dead, he watches over the poor, he punishes the dishonest. Milda: goddess of Love. Laima: Goddess of Human life, she leads a human through his life. (born, wedding, death.) Kovas: God of War. These are only some of the gods
wow, I knew that my native language(Polish) and Lithuanian both come from Balto-Slavic but I wouldn't thought that I can understand some words of the song. "Sacred earth, sacred dew" in Polish is "Święta Ziemia, Święta Rosa" so it's very close. Even the pronunciation is very close to Polish, almost the same
Eternal Mother. She stands upon the Nocturnal Flower. The Rose. Red against the night sky. Grace and Mercy her fragrance. The stars in the heavens her Crown.
Romuviai have asked for lyrics to the daina Inija sings at the end. Here they are: This is a call and response song. (Everyone sings the chorus:) Žemynėle ziedkelėle (Leader sings the verses:) Žemėle geroji Žemyna didzioji Tu musu motulei Visu mylimoji Palaminki mumis Irskalsinki mumis
I think all the people below commenting, if they look into it will find whether they agree or not with everything that there is said here, the sentiment to be close to the Earth and honoring of the earth and the ways of being in harmony is the important part. It is this that is paramount, not whether you find people 100 percent ancient or not. Let us see the root of the heart here, rather than focus on the extraneous points.
I'd like to contact a Lithuanian person that practices romuva. I am a Pole and i want to find my own beliefs, not these that were placed upon me right after birth by christians. I am serious and id love to get only serious answers
I think I may have responded to you on another video? Or someone else with the same question. We have several Facebook groups but we also have a website www.romuva.us and we will soon be launching a discussion board on there. IN the meantime, please join us on Facebook if you have it.
Why go to Utah? A predominantly fanatic christian state? Mormons specifically may not have destroyed our culture but their predecessors did. Where can I read more about this initiative in Utah before I make more judgements?
Janani is a Sanskrit word which means mother...one who gives us birth... sounds the same in the Lithuanian prayers. Christian crusaders were as intolerant of other religions like the muslims. Even the Kharaj jews were intolerant. ...
@@SPARTACUS77537 no. you keep commenting this but it isn't true. vedic civilisations and baltic civilisations both arose from proto-indo-europeans. baltic culture did not split from vedic culture, they both split off from p.i.e
This is wonderful. You never think about northern white Celtic cultures as being indigenous even though all people and all races were at some point. And then for whatever reasons Abrahamic Mesopotamian religions took over everything beginning 2000 years ago and since then they summarily wiped out, both literally and figuratively, all previous known and practiced religions and traditions while keeping very few pagan influences to appease the masses. As someone with deep French roots on both sides of my family I really enjoyed this. Even though I grew up Christian, I never really understood why so many white people are, in a sense, addicted to it and it's long history entrenched in Judaism. It never made sense to me to study early Arabic cultures I really had no true connection to. Luckily the internet has shown us how all this happened with Roman adoption of Christianity and then as all three abrahamic religions grew and gained power and influence, they literally forced themselves onto the rest of the world killing untold millions in the process. I can still respect the teachings of Jesus in the Gospels, but as of today I no longer call myself a Christian. It's long past time to worship mother earth and get back to our roots. She needs us more than ever!
sorry but romuva people are highly accepting of others. not to mention, nazis took the romuva symbol and turned it into one of hate and destruction, then produced to take over our lands and attempt to control it (soviets won there). why you'd ever think we'd accept this kind of hate, I don't know.
What a lie. Romuva is old prussian not Lithuanian and that was just a name of one of many old prussian settlements. These people got nothing to do with any ancient religion. Bunch of importers that mock ancient beliefs.
It's a Baltic religion. Baltic. Lithuania, Latvia and Old Prussia were the well known practitioner/believers of this faith, Romuva. As much as "Romowa" was a sacred sanctuary in Prussia, it doesn't mark the religion as just their own, much like Christianity is also found all over the place, not just where the origins were rooted from. In fact, the origins of Romuva itself is not only rooted in Prussia but like mentioned, Balt people in general. Now instead of being ignorant, you should be atleast appreciating the fact that there's people who saved out ancestors religion from completely being eradicated, and instead, reviving it successfully, keeping it close, living by our ancient beliefs, and our true nature before Christianisation.
