This is the 2nd time takumi didn't realize there is one and only person who had the 'gutter skill' since he was defeated with the same technique long time ago by his father using impreza 22B.
Only this time, Takumi's blind attack does not work on Bunta. The way how Bunta deals with Takumi's blind attack, Bunta went like nice try, I know about the blind attack because I used it before. So it is possible that Bunta must of been toying with Takumi like this. OK, I will let you pass me to see what you got. Then Bunta still wins with that counter attack.
Have you forgotten that Ryosuke can also have his gutter skill too? I am not saying Ryosuke had defeated Takumi in a race but he did beat Takumi in that gutter. Difference is when Bunta beats Takumi in that gutter, Takumi cannot even counter attack to win the race. When Ryosuke defeated Takumi in that gutter, Takumi did overtake Ryosuke at a last second of a race. So far, it is proven that 3 racers have gutter skills
@@hp2546It doesn't work *because Bunta has a goddamn MUCH BETTER car than Takumi.* Their skill level are extremely close to each other, that the differentiating factor between them would be how the cars differ. Give that GR86 to someone like those who bullied Iketani's AE85 and Takumi will smoke it so easily.
I love how this is the 90s but then a gt86 from the future races takumi, but then the gt86 evolved into a gr86. -theory confirmed- takumi sees the future that’s why he never loses
Well no here's my theory the GT86 in the first half was in 2012-2013 around the time legends 3 came out the scene would take place then since there was nothing stating it was still in the 90's and the GR is later on like 2019 or 2022 because shinjis in full race gear which makes me wonder if he's testing it on Akina agenst takumi and why not throw arguably the fastest driver in the initial D universe bunta behind the wheel of a car that needs testing that probably is a loaner or was given to him by DK himself because this commercial is a part of the last few GR86 commercials
No the really story is after the 86 blew up the second time they ended up selling the GC8 to get another group a spec engine. Bunta just bought the new GR because he wanted to.
Ik know it’s a spiritual successor, but it’s sad that Toyota never made a more sporty modern Corolla, I mean if the had a cool turbocharged version in the 90s, what’s stopping them now?
OMFG. His dad is a fuckin troll lol. First was the Subaru now it's the GR86. Damn, his dad is a beast. Can't wait for this anime to come back, about time 😋
spoiler Bunta wants Takumi to immediately find a new car because the thureno is too old, and Bunta just bought Takumi a new car, then he sticks with his Subaru
2:16 One, tiny little flaw in this video: Bunta doesn’t have the GR86 in track mode which leaves traction control on. If he’s beating Takumi with traction control then he truly is a legend!
Based on what it is shown, Shinji is not poor. If you compared that to Bunta, Bunta is not exactly a rich man. Bunta only made connections with his friend Suzuki. He arranged for the front engine for Takumi to have and he is the one who depended on Suzuki to hook him up with the Subaru. It is possible that Takumi's father only depended more like on a friend discount to get cars. So Bunta would have 2 friends. 1 would be Takumi's boss at a gas station and the other would be Suzuki, a mechanic that have connections that can hook Bunta up with car parts or cars that Bunta want. In a way, Shinji's family must be rich compared to a Fujiwara family. So Shinji's family does not exactly have to depend on a friend to get discounts on cars. Bunta most likely have to because he is not that rich.
@@yhwach1 But by describing his living environment, it is a small home. You don't see Bunta using extra money on remodeling a tofu shop. Bunta only spends money on the needs and is not into anything luxurious. Look at his tofu business and his home. It does not even look luxurious. A real rich person would not be settling for a small home. Anyone who is rich would of gotten a bigger home long time ago. Besides, just a tiny tofu restaurant and not that many people he can hire, small company. Any business owner who owns a small shop and a small home but have the money would of already spend it on remodeling. If you were to sell just tofu, you can't expect to get rich that quickly. Bunta's place is not even considered a big company. That place don't look prestigious. To give an example, if someone were to live in a tiny apartment, are, you still going to call that person extremely rich? Or what if that person were to own a small farm? Are you still going to call that person rich? Bunta is not poor but not rich either. More like middle class. So being in a tofu business would not make Bunta a millionaire. The real rich person have luxury and lives in luxury. Bunta has simple life of living. People can live well as in having a decent home and living a simple life.
@@Viachiaaa Based on what I read about it in Googles, it is also stated that Takumi also married a golfing lady Mika. So it sounds like Natsuki is now considered to be Takumi's ex girlfriend. I mean right after Natsuki went to Tokyo University, both Natsuki and Takumi never contacted each other again. So Takumi moved on and started his relationship with Mika. So Mika and Takumi would already be husband and wife in England based on how the googles were read.
Takumi got disabled edit: he recovered and can still drive tho he teaches students about racing one of them is the mc of MF ghost. Sorry for not making it clear.
Subaru Impreza and Toyota GR86, both cars that were obviously way better cars than the AE86. Understandably, Takumi couldn't win in terms of car and driving skills against the Subaru, but after winning in the Rally Championship, Takumi only lost to Bunta in GR86 due to the difference in cars' capabilities. Not to mention that Takumi's AE86 here looks like the stock one, as compared to the upgraded one with the black hood that he first raced his father in Subaru against with. And still, he kept up so well in a much inferior car, which proves that had it been the same exact car that they were driving, Takumi not only could definitely keep up against Bunta, but even perhaps surpass him due to his greater experiences from abroad, and having been trained to drive in adverse road conditions other than Mt. Akina and Gunma's paved roads. As legendary and goated as Bunta is, eventually, even in his prime, Takumi will surely surpass him. You can't call yourself the "successor" if you'd fail to be better than your ancestor, and for Bunta, having him beaten by Takumi will only mean that he succeeded in making him the next legendary professional street and rally racer after him.
First thought: Nobody wins against Takumi and his AE86 - I don't care about modern marketing or specs! Second thought: Oi, that's Bunta! I guess it's alright then? Phew, but to be honest: pure sport cars are long gone ... Supra, 86/BRZ, Z, all new AMGs, Ms, Stangs and HEMIs - they are not the same anymore (I don't say they are bad cars - I think they can outperform their ancestors, but for me it's all about the feeling and emotion). Downsizing engines and heavily loaded with tons of assistance, infotainment and all possible crap - handling and feeling can't be the same anymore. I think everybody who remembers the glory days of lightweight NA-cars or the good 'ol Group-B and V10-Formula-1-era can move on to a different hobby now (or stick to the old stuff) ... The new Z would need an engine swap (RB for example) to be truly desirable for an owner of a powerful Z, Skyline or Viper. Hellcats on the other hand are way to heavy and Mazda doesn't have the guts to build their MX9 Vision Concept with H2-Wankel. All other 'affordable modern sport cars' (including Supra and 86) - well, way to underpowered and soulless in my opinion (thanks, emission targets)! I applaud the last brave soul who coaxed Aston Martin to coachbuild the Victor (I guess it was someone who always dreamed about the One-77 but also remembered the badass oldschool V8 Vantage Le Mans V600). Living in Germany and seeing tons of proud Audi-, Merc-, BMW- and Porsche-Owners with their overpriced, shiny new cars (or 4dr coupés or compact-sport-SUVs) every day is both: painful and comical. Heart and brain just won't believe that a tiny RS-3-wannabe, a 'Macan Turbo S' or a fourbanger C63-whatever is an 'enthusiasts car'. Sorry for the monologue.
All these new cars have turbos that are a lot more powerful and it’s also not all about that it’s about skill and technique and pushing the car to the max limit even though redlining the engine is good for it that’s how you know you can win against all odds that’s why you see so many people pushing their cars into the red line and over it it’s about car control in cornering speed and different breaking techniques and driving manual transmissions helps you control the car better and you can put in a lot more technique if people don’t understand how Takumi drives as fast as he does this is a perfect explanation of how he does it
Would be better if they foreshadowed Kanata Livington driving that GR86 instead of bunta (I know kanata didn't drive the GR86, but what if, sometime in the later stages of MF Ghost, he switches to GR86?)
imagine falling for sponsor money so much you turn the series' racing spirit into obscure action drift with nothing but brand display stinking out of every hole
How Bunta affords it is because Bunta has 2 friend. 1 work at a gas station as manager and other other who is a mechanic introduces Bunta to any car. With Suzuki to be Bunta's friend, Bunta can get a friend discount.
I've made a goal to like and comment on every video related to Initial D and Eurobeat. This is my way of paying tribute, to my fav anime. This is my 65th comment.
Nah takume still had his ae86 but changed back his hood to normal because he wouldn’t race it anymore. Then like a bout 13 year later or so takume saw that shinji bought a gt86 then takume thought he was challenging him so anyways he just did it anyways and how could he catch up if a normal ae86 engine is scrappy slow so it be impossible for takume to not blow his engine from chasing the gt86. Now back to the gr86 While the time shinji had a gt86 he had it for like 4 or so years then at the time it was probably 2017 or more and bunta bought a gr96 secretly without takume knowing then he was probably testing the car then he met up with takume testing the car, and that was my theory.
I want a sequel that doesn't focus on Takumi, but on Itsuki. I think he had some potential in the later stages and I want to see some more amateur racing on Akina since Takumi was basically already a pro from the beginning.
@@EnhancedTrashBin yeah a prequel that follows bunta and the geezer that owns the gas station. That sounds very appealing compared to MF ghost or watching another series of takumi
In Initial D legends it’s based in modern time I figured that out they’re just using all JDM cars cause that’s what is popular in Japan that just proves how much skill Takumi has
If you google it, it will tell you that Takumi is married to a golfing lady Mika. Eventually, both Takumi and Mika moved to England. So that will prove that Natsuki will now be Takumi's ex girlfriend. Takumi is not going to stay single for that long. Takumi will eventually get a wife.
Because he understands in that particular moment that Takumi is way better than when he battled him in the Impreza before, and there's no time for him to smoke anymore, otherwise he'd be smoked by Takumi instead.
This! The exact point of this video is that no matter how great you are at driving, when you and your opponents' skills are already extremely close to each other, but they're driving a much better car, no matter what you do, you'd still be beaten due to cars' differences. Unlike in the Impreza, this time, it wasn't that Bunta was way better than Takumi anymore, but the AE86 being old already, and it's only the best that Takumi and Bunta can make it look like, but will surely not hold a candle to the GR86 being driven by them as well.
