You are welcome Rob. Thanks for your great videos featuring this grill, made it an easy choice to purchase, especially at half off! Thanks for stopping by!
Nice review. Works great. I’ve cooked on it all summer. Overshoots temp sometimes but it moderates. Being insulated I should be able to cook on it in winter in the north. I did have to get the temp probe replaced twice. Wire is fragile and got erp error.
That looks super cool! I’ve used a mini WSM with a bbq guru for years, and just recently upgraded to an 18.5” WSM. I was thinking how cool it would be if the fan controller was built in to a charcoal smoker. And here it is! Thanks for the great review!
Just got one yesterday. Fedex gave it a free dent in the lid, so gotta deal with exchange etc. smoked some chicken thighs, turned out excellent. I can see this’ll be a fun and versatile cooker. Afterwards, got a dang ERp error, temp probe seems to have a short at the crimp 🙄. Hopefully no issues with the replacement when it gets here 🤞🏻. Ordered a Akorn Jr for a back-up and travel grill too.
Yep. The wire is fragile. Turn it sideways and not facing down. That’ll get rid of the crimping. Customer service is great though. They’ll replace it no problem.
@@UABFWSS I got the second one pretty quick. Hopefully turning it sideways and not facing down gets rid of the crimping wire issue. When it’s working it’s great. Good luck.
The Auto Kamado is very efficient with charcoal. I have used the same fill for multiple cooks, so I doubt you will need to refill. Worse case is you use BBQ gloves to remove the heat shield to add more, but I don't think it will be necessary if you start with a full amount.
Would love to see some cooks on this, and follow up thoughts after some experience with it! I’m curious how the fan will hold up with very high temp cooks like pizza…what is the upper operating temp according to the manual?
That one from Walmart was bought on September 21, 2022 and then returned. That is a used item and might not even have all of the parts. There is a reason why someone bought it and then returned it.
I assume you are referring to the date on the Walmart webpage I showed in the video. You are correct, I purchased that from the same computer on Sept 21st. I made this video several days later after receiving it, and made this video. If you look carefully the bottom of that screen is blurred out. When I recorded it I didn't realize my home address was showing on the bottom right of the screen. That happened because I was still signed in to my Walmart account. To protect my privacy I went back and blurred that out. This was a new unit, packed very well and not missing anything. Sorry for the confusion.
@@SmokingBBQ Thank you. That does make sense now that I know it was you who previously purchased this item. So did you completely take it apart and replace it back in the box before returning it to Walmart? And did you cook on it at all?
@@carllove3705 I did not return it, I brought it and still have it. I have cooked a few things in it, and have been impressed. Stay tuned for more videos.
