This movie is good but like other my sentiments were hurt too Not because she ate meat but because she wore Muslim attire and prayed before cooking biriyani it was unnecessary to wear it pray from heart it sufficient it is misleading to younger generations of hindus that if you want to make some truly good like Muslim makes delicious biriyani you have to wear their attire and pray in thier manner !!

At the start he cannot pronounce her name - Annapoorani. It comes from Indian Goddess of Food and nourishment - Annapoorna (Anna=Food, Poorna=full ) In India, it is common to see canteens, small restaurants and food and catering services names after Annapoorna. My great grandmother was named Annapoorna and I think she was a really good cook, just like all the grandmothers in the world!

There's no hate against this movie in India but anger over a scene which wasn't right from the religious practices point of view. Since the protagonist belongs to that section of Hindu community which vows to never consume any animal's meat (basically this is identified as vegetarian in India) but during the movie in a scene when she had to cook meat which means breaking her vows, she did that by offering a namaz at the spot. This is the reason for anger but not hate. The anger is due to the fact that this whole scene was illogical and the wrong way to justify that logic by hurting the sentiments of Hindu faith followers. Had it been a Muslim or a Christian protagonist, the director would not have dared to hurt the religious sentiments of the people following these faiths. That particular scene is illogical bcz it associated biryani with Muslim community as if particular food has to be religiously associated & people following other faith practices can't eat those foods or in this case she needed to pray like a Muslim only to make biryani best & biryani is a Muslim community dish. It's ridiculous.

It was a propoganda movie...even the actress had to admit that she made a mistake by signing this movie..there was no need of attacking one' s religion belief and glorifying other..it was made on purpose to promote love jihad..the characters were poorly written..Ustad hotel,Ramji londonwale, etc movies was a perfect depiction of how a culinary movie should be made without making a circus.

This movie has made with a proven formula, always trying to evoke melodramatic elements with the viewers, rather than reality. A very poor weaving of events and social scenario ended up in a disasterous experience. The Malayalam language movie Ustad Hotel has perfectly blended the aesthetics of food with culture, relegion and soceity. It seemed more real and connects to the viewers heart with no circus.
