Great rig, I've had mine a few months now. I've put it on metal capra clone axles and it's a pretty unstoppable crawler. Easily the best video on this frame I've found, great work buddy 👌🏼
Nice vid. Got this one last year as a first budget build. Went overboard with it. Now it performs better than my scx10 and my absima sherpa. Went with AR44 portals, metal transmission, HW1080, 100mm shocks, 2.2beadlocks with 1.9 prolines 😅. It's got a lot of potential being a caged crawler but yes your right, it's almost close to the costs of a capra now 😂
I got the pre-built from amazon, the servo link binds on the tie rod. It has some funky bends on the ball joints. I was wondering if you have a video of reference on what you have. I used to have lots of extra parts, but I got rid of them. I've been out of the rc game for a while.
The angled ends are usually in spots where you need them for better articulation. The straight ones like on the metal ones I used in the video mostly work for this chassis. Its a lot of farting around and there really isn't one right answer to making a set of links once you deviate from stock. There are basically only two kinds, the 8 link set (4 link front and rear) and the 10 link panhard style. Usually the 10 link come with angled link ends because I believe that's what the SCX10 II came with (never owned one but the Chinese aren't known for innovation so I think that was an Axial thing). Not exactly sure what you mean about binding, but most stuff will loosen up over time if it isn't a case of incorrect assembly (RTR Chinese stuff is notorious for shoddy build quality but even the good stuff is often far from perfect these days). I usually check for major problems (gears binding horrifically) and then just drive a new car for a couple of packs to let things wear in before I get too worried about stuff. The big thing with the cheap axles is to avoid loading them up (wheels not turning) under power too much, especially if you put in a stronger motor or 3S power, because they will absolutely not last long.
Do you find that those front out drives snap at the joint very easy? i had to buy like a bag of 10 axle's to carry with me when i take it out. Edit: you just answered my question.. haha,,,
i got a roll of tape at the dollar store for 4 dollars🤔. Lol. Sounds more like $1and up store. And no, i wouldnt say the capra is better than that chasis. I have the same one with with capra axles and all custom setup for about $500 that is completely bulletproof. The capra isnt that great compared to this. This one has better clearance. Get this chasis, capra axles, hobbywing fusion motor/ esc combo, make your own custom links, cheaper flysky radio, and some hot racing shocks and injora wheels, drivelines and whatever tires. I opted for a treal front housing because the C's on the capra axles suck and always break. This is the best chasis imo
