Oh baby
Oh baby
You're having a bad dream
Here in my arms
Oh sugar
You came to me
Could all be a bad thing
And do you harm
Oh oh oh
Oh lover
You run from me
We move like a bad scene
Shot in the dark
Oh but please
Please wake me
For my love lies patiently
Please baby please
And my love life waits for me
Oh love
You came to me
Are you having a bad time?
There in your home
Oh sugar
Give in to me
You're just having a bad dream
Of raining lungs
Oh but please
Please shake me from my lovesick patient dream
Please baby please
And my love plays wait and see
Oh I'm on my knees, yeah
I'm on my knees
I promise I'm clean
And my love life waits
And you're already gone
Yeah, you're already gone
We are already home
And my love life stumbles on
Oh baby
Lean into me
There's always a side door
Into the dark
Into the dark, shh

Injustice is a Neo-Greek Tragedy of two men with uncompromising positions who escalate an all out war all over the world in the vain attempt of proving one's own morality over the other. Batman and Superman are both villains of this universe in a way. They both plunge the world into chaos and it is only the annihilation of everyone that can convince both men to lay down their grudges and save their universe. Only for both of them to turn on each other as soon as Brainiac is gone. Injustice is a dire warning of how being uncompromising isn't a virtue in and of itself.

Bruce's side is also interesting. We see how much he wants to kill Joker, he day dreams about doing it, but can't. And then Clark, probably the only person in the world that he truly trusts outside of Dick, does it. Right in front of him. And Bruce brakes. Again. For all that Clark needs Bruce to reach out, he doesn't understand just what his actions did to Bruce. We've seen it before, in the Justice Lords. The difference was Bruce only saw the aftermath. This allowed him to detach it, put it aside and become what we saw there. The man willing to crush a world's soul to save it. Here? Here he saw his best friend become the monster Bruce is terrified he could become. Thus Bruce, being shit at being human, reacts the only way he knows how and it goes poorly. Diana being a bitch doesn't help either.

I don't know if this would be a hot take or not. The Justice Lords in the DCAU was far more fascinating than the Injustice regime. I don't know if it was the Luther killing flash as president angle or maybe that Injustice Superman is just completely unhinged....but Justice Lord Superman seemed to me a real test of Clark's ideals in where the lines are and whether he should cross them. It wasn't spurred on by losing Lois but by losing Flash to his greatest enemy. More nuance I feel. I would have loved to see a media that tackled the full timeline of the Justice Lords and any resistance that failed against them.

An aspect I love about this comic is that Clark isn't stopped by a Naruto Talk no jutsu where after one stern talking to Superman just does a complete 180. The seeds of Superman's undoing were planted the instant he looked at his son's face and then comes a string of small realizations that are pushed down by denial until they just blow up. 'Jon wants to explore this world on his own against Superman's insistence that he should go with him to explain some things - but wait, why would he have to do that? He's proud of the world he's made, right?' 'Jon talks to someone he was close to in his own world. Someone who experiences life in this world on a regular basis who can tell Jon what it's like and that makes Superman extremely paranoid. What would this person tell him?' All the while Superman tells himself that it'll be okay. Jon will understand, but he says it in a way that's clearly trying to convince himself more than anything because he is desperate for his son's vindication. He never had to truly consider what his wife and kid would think of his world before. Now he does, and it creeps up on him little by little just how ashamed he actually is.

The stupidest thing dc has done was age him up which is especially weird since Damian is still looks younger than him. And they kept shoving him into a lot of awful stories that is so out character when he was first introduced. It feels like the writers just used Jon as a mouthpiece because he was a new character at the time and thought they could do whatever they want with him. Ultimately, the success of Injustice Superman is that he is very human for better and for worse. Part of what makes Superman difficult to resonate with most is that he doesn't falter nor waiver because, as a symbol of hope, he cannot. This prevents him from being able to fall down and get back up which is probably a more powerful display of hope than never falling down to begin with. Of course, that isn't to say that Injustice Superman is a better Superman because he is a dictator at the end of the day.

Lately every time I see a scene with billionaire Bruce Wayne sitting at the same table as Daily Planet freelance contributor Clark Kent I imagine seeing a picture of Jeff Bezos sitting with Macolm Gladwell or Howard Hughes sitting with Bob Woodward. That's got to tread awfully close to being just as conspicuous as the two of them standing around wearing full costume.
@EnerKaizer
@EnerKaizer 6 месяцев назад
I mean, Clak is one of the Daily Planets star reporters, so him being near Bruce for an Interview makes sense, and the comics even later went on to let Bruce become the owner of the DP to even make this part not stand out as much (considering he'd be Clarks boss then as well.)

@@EnerKaizer -- All of that is true. Just imagine how it *looks* from the perspective of the average Joe on the street. Kent and the Planet run exposé after exposé on Lexcorp's misdeeds for years and then when they finally run into financial trouble, Bruce Wayne - who has been seen having beers with Kent numerous times - swoops in to buy the Planet to keep the criticism going. From the outside it looks like Old Money using the Press to beat up on New Money. And because its the Gotham Gazette's network that buys out the Planet, it also looks like Wayne is trying to turn the Planet into a right wing pro-Wayne Industries tabloid rag like the Gazette.

I agree. I think this six issue run would have been more effective had Jon remained 10 and possibly be 11 years old by this point. That being said, I think it could’ve worked with an adult Jon and given him more character depth had it allowed Jon to make hard choices than just hugging it out. Tom Taylor’s problem is that he doesn’t know how to allow his characters to grow and make hard choices. That’s why Jay is hated so much and why Jon coming out as bisexual doesn’t work. I WANT Jon to come out, but when you don’t allow the characters to grow and make hard choices, they become shallow and stagnant. Hell, he could’ve brought back the Super Sons, but again he’s not allowing the characters to make hard choices. Outside of the hug, I didn’t find Jon’s response to the vision of Damian’s death to be believable. The only reason why the six issue of The Adventures of Superman is the better Jonathan Kent aged-up comic is because the characters do show emotion and respond humanly to what’s going on around them.

He is not his son. I know he is a version of Superman but hear me out. This Superman is physically different than the main one They all are in Injustice If they looked the same then it would have been a merely split timeline, the fact that they look different proves it doesnt have a similar origin. This Superman has a different face, different structure overall, his hair looks brown in the games, and he isnt nearly as muscular as Jons real dad. His powers are also nowhere near on the same level as the main Superman If they took a DNA test it would likely come out negative,he is just too different physically. They would probably appear as just relatives in a test at best If anything the Injustice universe is CLOSER(but still seperate) to the New 52 universe. However Jon is the son of POST CRISIS Superman Jon is absolutely correct that he cant be his father, but for the wrong reasons. Another example that these characters are different biologically is Damian. Injustice Damian doesnt look like his future iterations from the comics at all. Lets look at Futures End Damian for example. His physical appearance over the years doesnt match his mainline counterpart. Particularly he is has different hair, eyes and is shorter and much less muscular Saying Injustice Superman is Jons dad is saying that Tobey Maguires Spiderman and Tom Hollands Spiderman are the exact same person Injustice Superman became a villian because he is a different person, genetics also affect the brain/personality etc. Kingdom Come Superman is more similar to Post Crisis Superman and he faced a very similar thing as Injustice Superman,he didnt kill the Joker and he didnt become a tyrant.

What Gandalf the Grey had to say to us all about not being so quick to meet our death and punishment is good advice. But more than this, where Injustice Superman lost his way is not primarily in using lethal force. It was in his desire to control what will happen and what won’t happen. Which made him not all that different from Darkseid himself who sought the Anti-Life Equation for an untold length of time. In order to control all sentient life. And another thing that Injustice Superman hated about what happened to him. Is not that he loss his beloved wife. Unborn child and the city that he loved. The real truth is that his self-image cannot accept that he was made to suffer just like any of those lowly little humans that he looks down upon while he’s flying high in the sky. Because let’s be real here. In a cop procedural drama or medical drama show like Grey’s Anatomy. The majority of bad things happen to the patients and their families. Not the doctors and nurses operating on them. What happened to Kal-El’s loved ones was definitely more theatrical than how it goes down with most people. But let’s look at Hercules here for an example of a better man than Superman. Literally what they did with Superman was ripped off from Hercules being manipulated into deleting his own beloved wife and children. But how did Hercules react afterwards and how did Superman react afterwards. Hercules lamented the demise of his family to the point of almost deleting himself but instead he chose to make amends and seek redemption for a crime he wasn’t truly responsible for. Superman on the other hand just decided to start murdering more people! As the old saying goes, “Circumstances don’t create character. They reveal character.” Superman has an absurd and extreme reaction to the loss of loved ones as Achilles had to the loss of his precious Patroclus during The Trojan War. We can all understand that Achilles had love for his brother in arms but to be so godsmacked that he loss his life in a brutal and often times chaotic 10 year war, is kind of delusional and ridiculous. It just shows how much of an entitled little spoiled half-god brat that he was. That he thought himself separate and free from the joys and pains of our shared human condition. One of the things that many of us love about Thor Odinson from the MCU is how he has suffered how we all have suffered or will suffer but chooses to still be a blessing and hero to those that he can be. But what Injustice Superman did is use his tragedy like a wicked politician to justify becoming mean, merciless, violent, domineering and cruel. And he deserves no sympathy from us!

Good analysis! I feel the moment the best sums this up is when Injustice Superman reveals his identity to the public in Year 1, ending his life as Clark Kent, the persona that allowed him to live among people, with them interact with the man behind the super hero. It represents how Clark is trying to use his Superman identity as armor, trying to convice himself that he has no flaws, that he's above everybody else. That's why people like his parents, Kara or Jon have so difficult getting through him, because Injustice Superman is trying to forget from this part of himself that, in his eyes, lead him to be hurt. It's because of his refusal to embrace his humanity that results in his evil actions, with Injustice Superman always refusing to accept his mistake, instead choosing to blame his problems on others (like Batman, the main Justice League or even the civilians). The fact the tried to destroy Metropolis just because he found out people didn't like his protection is the perfect exemple of this.

I always like the dynamic of Superman and Batman when they are best friends. Both of them look up to each other, and have a lot of respect for one another. For Superman, Bruce is the ultimate proof of what a human can be capable of if one puts their everything into it. Take away Bruce's money, gadgets, tech, and whatnot and you're sure as hell that he'll somehow find a way to still dispense justice in the dark streets of Gotham as the Batman. He's also the grounding force to Clark's much more lofty outlook on life, helping him see what's it like at the ground level when he's too busy flying above everyone else. He's the pinacle of humanity that the alien Kal-El wants oh so badly to be part of. For Batman, Clark gives him hope. Hope to maybe get away from the past where he is forever stuck at, as the kid in an alleyway unable to do anything as his parents were gunned down, and maybe start looking into the future to see how bright it can be. That he can achieve more as the Batman rather than just punching bad guys and put them back into the same revolving door prison/asylum. To him, Clark spits in the face of the saying that power corrupts and absolute power corrupt absolutely and that if he could put his faith into one thing, then it's that Superman will always choose to do the right thing.

I like Batman, he is a great character, but at the same time I dislike him because he is arrogant and hypocrite. Arrogant because in a lot of times he thinks he is the only with reason, and a hypocrite because he can leave a criminal at the face of death because of hard he punched him, but he won't ever kill even if it's necessary. And no one proves this. hypocrisy than Joker. He is the worst thing around in Gotham... but rather than finish his reign of terror once and for all, he indirectly let him escape to do all over again.

Ok so(man i wish we could do a collab but i dont even have a youtube channel just thoughts) i thought i might be cool to do a video comparing the themes of the episode "Frozen Out" to the classic Christmas story "the little match girl" as permafrost is a similar character but modern...also its interesting to note in static shock the girl only gets help because of the pressence of a super hero character...like TLMG. No civilians really step in to asist. It kinda encompasses that idea of dc heroes are something to aspire to, as perhaps since we know static is a civilian kid it encourages us to be the super hero...the match girl has two interpretations of a girl seeing visions cuz of extreme cold. Or her grandmother coming to get her, as she dies...also it may also be allegorical of how tales like the little match girl, and even static 20 years later lol are in deed still relavent to not take for granted what we have and help those we see in need despite them being a loved one or not...which is one of the points if superheros in general (Sorry for a wall of text, love your videos, and happy holidays if not merry christmas Mr. I.P.)

2:39 Wait, this brings up a good question. We already know if Superman breaths hard enough it creates strong winds or ice. If he pushes too hard, can his poop blow a hole in the ground? Is there a diaper strong enough for the man of steel?

5:58 The difference between Batman being feared by the masses and Superman being feared by the masses is, as hard at Batman may try, he isn't an alien from another world. He couldn't kill with a thought, on a whim. People know that. Batman doesn't kill, he avoids it. Superman could -- and did -- take over the earth and rule with an iron fist because he's superman. Nobody can stop him when he thinks what he's doing is right.

6:11 sure but i think it more of a failure of the character experiencing how they feel.. Clark admires bruce but bruce admire Clark... he need Clark to be better than him ( unless is frank miller writting the story ..in that case bruce is too dumb to realize he actually admires superman XD )

I disagree about Injustice Superman fall to the dark side being Batman's fault. Sure, Bruce was bit harsh on Clark but that doesn't execuse Clark refusal to listen to Bruce warnings. He wasn't looking for a friend to give him good advices in that moment of need, he was after people to feed on his ego. He wants people to just approve his methods, tell him that he's right and go along with his actions with no question. If somebody points out his flaw, Injustice Superman just kills, choosing to live in his delusion rather than facing reality: That he still just flawed person and not the "perfect protector" he sees himself as.

I'm gonna hard disagree on the point that batman is a hypocrite besides the family stuff, Batman wasn't scaring the populace, superman was, imagine your perfect demigod savior who never killed before stuck his hand in another man. Batman has never killed anyone and thats his weakness in its own way but to call it hypocritical is ignoring all the details of how where and when the fear is used. Love the video just thought I'd share my two cents

Homlander is what he is but actual Klark Kent being evil is so much better. You can't blame detective comics for being unrealistic now. There are reasons.. tangible reasons not to be evil and they can be taken away and put back again and again and again. The ideals don't work for every situation but not everyone will be in every situation and some version they are aware of the situations and they try super hard not be in those situations. That or they are as crazy as bat man wich...no ...no one is going to work out side the law and fully trust the law even when someone calls out the fact that the law failing is the reason they exist in the first place. No reasonable person with powers would even count their exploits as something that candy handled. It's special. Super man, the flash and othe super powered people give themselves this excuse. They deal with things the law can't handle and maybe sometimes help out with low level stuff to. But Batman and anyone else without powers doesn't have the power equalizer excuse. Bat man kid is killed. Does nothing. Superman kid is killed..and yeah id say he had a pretty reasonable reaction. Broken and lost a good reson to not kill everyone. The whole "we all got dead people." Line easy to say when you not just living for them. You actually enjoy life. Some people just mean it when they tell their family they mean the world to them.

I'm not gonna argue Batman should of done something. "Batman scares people" yeah he does but why would Superman decide that scaring people(Note Batman scares criminals, bad people not your everyday human). Besides why would Superman just suddenly decide "You taught me to scare people" Like who says that. He was deflecting from his recent actions to do a world wide ceasefire (On superman's authority). And to even Batman's credit he did go to the President of the US to basically berate him for going after Clark's parents in this worst moment of Superman's life. Clark needed time to heal and mourn not go out on his own making decisions for the world while he's still feeling like his world ended(Which it didn't). At least I think so, being in pain tends to skew your judgement. Superman's kid(Err alternate universe version of him) to me just shows how far gone he is.

@@loopyfists Superman having a kid was never a problem for me. It became a problem when they aged him up after he was kidnapped by his Kryptonian grandfather, Jor-El, I believe, the details allude me because I didn't care about the event. What I do know is that when Jonathan was a kid, he was happy, wanted to do the right thing, and be a hero like his dad and hang out with his best friend Damien. When he returned home as an "adult," he returned gay, which raises so many ethical and moral issues. How does a 9 year old know about sexuality and suddenly is gay? The normal that Jonathan would know is between a man (Clark) and a woman (Lois), so this implies that Jonathan was graped by his grandfather for what 10 years which became normal for him. I could never get past this, but I guess the writers could.

@@loopyfists I wouldn’t mind the age jump, if they’d just kept making Super Sons comics, because it was the best main continuity book with Superman and Batman in years. Damian and John were funner to read than their fathers. I just don’t care about the main continuity anymore. I’d rather have great stories, and/or great runs like Super Soms was.
