Oooh, this video seems to have a lot of lovely reds to use! Scarlet, Poppy Red and Passion Red are the ones I'm looking at. So many great inks to choose from!
I know it's an old video, but I have just had a small bottle of the Wild Strawberry. It's a beautiful colour and appears a much deeper red than the video suggests. I ordered it as i could not find any of the Star Ruby in stock anywhere. Thanks for the videos 👍
Thanks for sharing that! Yes I need to possibly go back and have another look at these wild strawberry. I think it's a rather lovely colour but I'm also very tempted with alternatives just now I am really enjoying some of Rohrer und Klingners inks, such as alt bordeaux, a lovely darker red.
You probably dont give a shit but if you're bored like me atm then you can stream all the latest movies on Instaflixxer. I've been streaming with my brother lately =)
Oh, Mr Jecks, these two pages just sing to me! Each colour you started, I thought “Oh, that’s lovely”. I have Lamy Crystal in the shade Ruby which is my everyday red, but I think I might need to buy a little bottle of Wild Strawberry to give a more orange-red.
Thank you for the video! Yu-Yake was my first Iroshizuku I think, bought in conjunction with a lovely Pelikan M200 Cognac demonstrator, which now features a 1952 BB 14k flexible gold nib from a Pelikan 140... Gusher of a pen and a good match for the ink (the shading always reminds me of a beautiful ocean sundown I once witnessed in Aberystwyth).
I am eagerly awaiting the continuation of your red series so that I can decide which red to order. Thanks for your effort. With respect to your sticky Go - you can disassemble the rest of the plunger assembly and then apply a little silicone grease to the piston. There are videos out there showing the process. You will have to sacrifice a paperclip to the TWSBI gods, but it should smooth things out.
Hi, Tim, well, I'm reliably informed by my daughter/director that she has finished editing the latest Diamine Red comparison, so hopefully you'll be able to see it tomorrow! Thanks for the suggestion. I'll be going to RU-vid this weekend - two of them are sticking a bit now!
Another very helpful ink vid, thanks! I now have two or three more inks to buy. Currently have only one red, Pelikan Brilliant Red, which seems very close to your Passion Red, though a tad lighter I think. The thing I don't like about it is it flows way too generously and I get a mess with most pens I've tried it in. You've made me a big fan of Diamine inks, I'm happy with the blues I have so far. I think I'll try some of the darker reds from your previous vid.
The thing that gets me is, how Diamine seem to be able to create so many different shades and tones, but still keep the prices so reasonable! They really are a brilliant company.
Lovely red inks! By the way, have you thought about applying a little bit of super glue inside the end button of the piston mechanism? I think this may help securing it permanently from coming off again.
The pen I use for all my ink reviews is a 1.1 stub TWSBI. I wanted a pen that would show shading, which would have a good flow, and demonstrate any outlining or sheen, and thought this the best nib for the job. And I have to admit, I am inordinately fond of the TWSBI Go generally. A really good, easy, quick pen to fill and use!
