This process is almost the same as Steven Reddy’s the author of the book Everyday Sketching and Drawing. He uses Indian ink solution to make a grisaille layer and the watercolor comes on top of that greyscale layer. He uses hatching, too, to emphasize the darkest parts, or indicate details. Exactly this is the process I do after I had his book, now your process is an alternative using heavy hatching instead of ink wash. Thank you so much for your video.

Halloween is my #1. I love skulls. These are fantastic!!! Gladly buy a downloadable print to make decorations! Read the show more-I still love them. Great work.

Hey Marty, thank you for your video, I am sub to Alphonso, and owner of his book. My birthday is coming up and i invested on some art supplies, one of them are markers, I dont believe i ever see you showcasing alcohol based markers to your channel? what markers you like using?
@owingsart

Thank you Dawn. Alfonso is so talented. I also own the books he's written. I do have a couple videos on the channel that deal with markers. I use Copic markers because they can be refilled and the Japanese really like using them for Manga which I like as well.

I really like the skull. It has emotion. Skulls are just bones and not something that most people would think of as having emotion; but, yours does. I like Platinum Carbon Black ink to watercolor over. It dries fairly quickly and holds up under numerous washes.

Hi Donna - I also love the Carbon Black ink, it is outstanding and I do use that as well, but people were encouraging me to try the Pigma Microns, so I gave it a try. This was a fun project. Hope all is well in your neck of the woods my friend. ~ Marty
