Hi Christine -- I was so happy when I saw Sara's rainbow tag video because I knew immediately what I wanted to do = fill 10 TWSBI Ecos with favorite inks. LOL
Hi @impish22 awesome! I love mine! I'm getting a bit braver too about switching nibs if I need to ... in the case that I have a nib I really like on a Go for instance and I want to put it on one of my Ecos. That has really helped. Although I'm nervous about breaking a feed so I just go for sliding the nib out with tape. :)
Thank you Marilyn -- these pens sure make me happy! When I first started with TWSBI Ecos I felt that I could quit right there as far as looking for any other pens. Then along came a few other pens that turned my head but the TWSBIs still are so reliable and fun.
Oh wow Chris what a funny coincidence in using this notebook for this rainbow challenge - The lovely woman who owns Odyssey notebooks is named Rainbow!!! She is really wonderful and her notebooks are just gorgeous. Love your setup - didn't even know there was a red TWSBI.
Oh that's so interesting! It's such a beautiful notebook and I want to learn the history of the company and everything ... how cool that her name is Rainbow. LOL
always lovely to hear to talk about inks and pens. i could tell you had so much fun picking your rainbow colors :D it'll be interesting to have this as a recurring tag every year to see how people's interests change (or don't)
This is a great idea @youngcou ---- I think I will purposely do this again in a year and see if any colors have been replaced by something I like better!
Always loving time with your videos. 😀 I have fallen in love with Purple Reign too. I sampled it along with 10 others and nothing compares to its flow and brightness. Your videos inspired me to try it.
I always love your vids, hi Chris. I’m so jealous of your Twsbi collection. They’re still the best fountain pen on the market for the price to me. They never disappoint and have the absolute best customer service. Thanks for sharing hun. ❤
OMG I've been saying it wrong this whole time, AlgoNquin Maple!! I've been saying it without the N lol! I loveeeeeeeee that red so much :D It's a bright red that dries slightly darker on paper, but still a nice vibrant red! :D Lovely set of rainbow colors!
Well ... never go by me for correct pronunciation ... I often am not completely sure. But I think the name is like the native tribe and in that case if it is ... (name of a type of Maple tree + a type of native tribe too I think) than I may have it correct. :) LOL It's a really really fun ink. I now sincerely wonder if the Pilot Momiji will fully replace it (it has a lot in common) ... I hope so but I may be very sad when my bottle runs out of Algonquin Maple. :)
Hi Chris! I enjoyed seeing the assortment of colors you have for your TWSBI pens. I also use Colorverse Gravity Wave in my TWSBI, and love the beautiful shading. Have you tried Robert Oster Deep Purple? It is one of the darkest purple inks in my collection. Looks like Coco simply can't resist being a troublemaker every now and then.😀
Hi Kurt - yes I have a sample of Robert Oster Deep Purple ... I remember it was pretty intense dark purple. :) Ah yes, Coco can behave for an entire week but let me press record and things are likely to go wild with him!!!!!
Nice collection of TWSbI’s and inks. I’m on a red ink kick lately and that Ferris Wheel Press Maple looks great! I’ve really been happy with the CVS Caliber paper for an inexpensive alternative to some of the higher priced papers.
Hi @lju5001 I'm really glad you like the CVS Caliber paper ... I really love it and even though it has its limitations (some inks appear too light or feel dry on it) I get along great with it with MANY of my inks and nibs. :)
One of my favourite brown inks is J. Herbin Café des Îles, which is warmer than Tsukushi, but less orange than SBRE Brown. I also love J. Herbin Lie de Thé, which is more yellow-leaning.
Oh I have yet to try J Herbin Cafe des iles ... it looks pretty I just looked it up. Thank you for mentioning it! I still have the remainder of Lie de The 10 ml bottle which I really like that ink too come to think of it.
Beautiful! How fun that you have a pen collection that you can use in conjunction. (I've never used a twsbi. 😮) Have fun watching all of the other rainbow videos!
Hi Amy - you've never used a TWSBI .... wow .... I remember when I got my first one ... the clear Eco .... it was such a game changer for me coming from some of the more problematic pens I started out with. LOL :) Everyone should try at least one TWSBI. I think.
I was just thinking about what colors would Chris pick for this tag when I watched few other videos. I may do this as my come back video tomorrow. ❤ Of course you have rainbow TWSBI ❤❤❤❤❤
Hi Charmi -- it's really fun seeing everyone's favorite inks! I like how it clarifies for me that some of my favorites are ones that I will eventually look for alternatives ... but it shows I finally stopped buying excess ink before the current supply runs low. I have to count every baby step when it comes to balancing my pen hobby "collecting". :) I look forward to your video when you make it!!!!!!
Algonquin maple was going to be my favorite but I couldn't find the sample :( and the Cross violet I like that ink but I really like the Taccia Murasaki purple and pilot mixable green is my second favorite green next to diamine golden ivy I love the gold shimmer . and Pelikan apatite is my favorite teal its so well cooperative to wash out of a pen I just cant get enough and my favorite blue well you know what happened with that I looked like a smurf for a month : / and my new favorite black is platinum carbon black its so well behaved more than people talk about and it dries smoothe and its super water permanent and I dont have a problem with it bleeding or feathering on 99 c store envelopes so its a 👍in my book You have a great selection. Great video as always :0.) Take care talk soon
@@jacobus57 it's quite nice then again I like to tare my pens apart and scrub them clean I know it's not for everyone but if you dedicate the ink to a pen that shouldn't be a problem 😀
Hi Marilyn -- would you believe our 99 cent store still has NOT opened ... they have kept the "coming soon" sign open but I'm suspecting they are having some sort of issues. :) Hope I'm wrong. Oh that Diamine Golden Ivy is so beautiful!!!! I don't think I have tried Platinum Carbon black. I have several pens I could dedicate to a nice black like that ... but once I found Cross Black recently, I just haven't looked around at black inks anymore. It seems to flow just like I like and I'm not upset that it lacks water resistance. I should be since a good water spill or rain could cause a bad day lol. :)
@@ChrisSaenz13 That's awful about your 99 cent store and say less about the Platinum carbon black I will send you a sample just be fair warned you probably don't want to put it in a platinum pen because those fins are hard to clean out
Sometimes I forget how many amazing inks Diamine has. I know I like Ochre very much!!!!! That's such a nice lighter brown yet so readable. Ancient Copper is pretty impressive too I remember my sample of that. Thanks for mentioning these. :)
LOL I don't even know for sure and I'm afraid to look because once those TWSBI Ecos sell out they skyrocket on the secondary market. I think I've seen one but I'm sure it is a limited edition from years past. :)
All ECO's. I'm impressed. I'm tempted to do a month with all Opus 88's (I have a bunch), but then it would take years to write out all the inked pens! Other Browns: Dominant Industries Lungo, Colorverse Dakota Thunder, Vinta Pamana, ....
Don't fill them all the way. I almost never fully fill my piston, vac or eyedroppers, except for two work pens. Since this dawned on me I find I use them a lot more!
Hi @Calcprof -- I know what you mean! Also, Jackie has a good point, I've been sometimes just filling mine 1/2 or so instead of full ... since my Opus 88s don't burp even when partly empty ... that way I'm not 4 months trying to finish a fill. But my Omars I've had filled for nearly a year without losing any quality of performance so that's something!
I get the number of pens inked. I had hope that I could still stick to 4 this month. Nope. 😁 I got more vintage inks. 3 in my original 4, 1950s Sheaffer's Skrip permanent Royal Blue in, of course, a blue Esterbrook J with the 2668 firm medium (correspondence ink for the month), 1970s or 80s Sheaffer Skrip Red in my Esterbrook school loaner pen from Fort Wayne Indiana (an SJ) with a 9556 firm fine, 1940s iron gall Parker Quink permanent blue-black in my Waterman's Taperite. And then the other inks... In a Jinhao 35, I have a disappointment, probably 1950s Sanford Pen-It Cardinal Red that faded to a fairly medicinal looking salmon orangey pinky. Hard to read, so useless to me. And in possibly either a Hero or Yiren (not a single clue what brand) with a still good 1950s Sanford Pen-It blue-black. Blues and black tend to hold up the best, in my experience. Another blue from the 1950s, Sheaffer's Skrip washable blue, in a smaller Esterbrook SJ with another 2668, to compare the two (permanent tends to be more saturated.) And I still have to get some Carter's blue-black in a pen. Then I got a friend enthusiastic about trying the pens her dad had, which were 1980s, so im debating a vintage Parker Quink brown or green in my Parker 45, which is a modern type cartridge converter pen, to let them try it. (Frankly thought about a Manifold nib for letting them try. Like trying to bend a railroad spike with your fingers.😂 But they instinctively were careful.) I definitely don't have the selection of colors to attempt a rainbow right now. I have trouble coming up with 10 favorite ones. But seeing your choices is inspiring as usual!
Hi Paul! All these 10 are working out great with only one exception ... the transparent purple one seems to have a little leak around the nib/feed because I keep getting purple fingers. I'll have to trouble shoot that one. I've had a flare up of pain and so it has slowed me down on EVERYTHING over the past week+. But I've still done as much writing as possible. Oh that's too bad about how much the Cardinal Red ink faded ... it must look almost like Salmon Pea Wiggle (a food they used to serve us in elementary school)? Hope all is going well for you this week!
@@ChrisSaenz13 I think I am done with Sanford Pen-It colors other than black and blue. Might try one more, this might have been a fluke, though it looks like cherry Kool Ade in the bottle still. And might be that it's a red. Same approximate age Waterman's Carnation Red is mauve now. And Sheaffer's Skrip permanent red turned pinkish.
