New to both inskape and illustrator and to be honest Inkscape has been so much easier to use and it can do what illustrator can plus much more,. It's just a matter of learning everything it has to offer and getting used to using the tools.
Thanks a lot for this tutorial. In many LPEs, some operations are not intuitive. Hence tutorials like yours are a godsend. A request: Can you please release a video that covers all the LPEs? There is no video or playlist that explains the LPEs, and despite searching the Internet for long, I could not find videos for some LPEs at all. It woul be fantastic to have a playlist that covers all LPEs. Or a single video that describes the LPEs briefly.
Thank you so much for your videos on learning Inkscape I am no expert by any means but your teachings have definitely have gotten me where I can at least design a basic t shirt so Thank you. I do have a question about how to move my Inkscape files and Gimp files to a new computer without having to create them all over again.
Great tutorial, thanks very much. I found that after the offset function has been applied to the text, the letters are grouped together. These need to be ungrouped and either regrouped or unified as one object before the nodes tool can be used. This stops Inkscape crashing.
Really cool video, but (just a suggestion) it would be more appealing if you actually used those new tools and new options to draw something, put them in action in the real world. But the video is really cool - thank you very much, David!!!
32:35 No reason why larger dimensions would create a larger file. This is “scalable vector graphics”, after all. The numbers would be larger in magnitude, but apart from taking slightly more space for those extra digits, the document size would be much the same. Furthermore, Inkscape lets you set a “scale” factor in the document properties. For example, if display units are millimetres and the scale factor is 1000, then you are effectively working in a scale where 1 mm represents 1 metre.
Please help me , when I use Union in my design after finalising my design all design disappeared , only shape left. What to do get back my design with union.
Thanks for tutorial. I don't understand how to copy/duplicate object with path effects? When I copy and paste "effected" object/path it crushes into ugli form... How to preserve/apply path effect and get pure path again?
I am trying to work out how to set a scale on all lines in a drawing. Such as 1:200, 1:100 etc. I can see in Document properties there is an option to change the scale but this is not clear on how it works as it is a decimal rather than a ration... any thoughts on that would be appreciated. thanks Tim
Could you also explain the reason (practical example) you would need these tools for us Dummies. Why wouldn't you just draw the elipse you need from 'Get Go'
@@lawrencedoliveiro9104 Thanks. I would have preferred to have seen some practical uses for it, cause I still don't know what situation it would be used in?
So far everything I could do with 92 easily I am struggling with 1.0. Font won't change, nodes in mesh gradient won't appear for fill, only for stroke, I am just down. Align doesn't work if I select more then 2 objects and I am just .....aaaaaaaaaa..... I know the more feature means more options but the struggle to get things done... I just turned to Illustrator until my mind is calmed. Not because AI is better, it is just new Inkscape is so NEW I can't find my perfect settings for things I did automatically before.

I want to make a giantess picture using gimp, Can you do a video on how to do that? putting someone in the city and the dust etc? also need to learn how to make an aura around someone, I'm new to gimp so i'm trying to learn slowly, thanks
Do you know how to enable pressure sensitivity? Inkscape detect my tablet as an aggregation point and not a graphic tablet ( XP pen 12 | Windows 10 x64 )
When LPEing, we lose the background ! Tough... You say to duplicate the form prior to do LPEing then the duplicate will serve a background. Fine BUT... if we make transformations while LPEing (like beveling, and many others), now the former background won't match anymore the transformation we made ! double TOUGH ! You (they) haven't thought about that...
"That would create a massive file" Uh, no, it wouldn't. I don't think you understand how vector graphics work. A line made out of two points one millimeter apart takes up exactly the same amount of space as a line made out of two points one kilometer apart. Take an SVG drawing that is the size of an A4 sheet of paper, scale it up to 2000 meters wide (about 100 times larger), then save it, and you'll find that the file size is almost exactly, if not exactly the same.
