These videos are so helpful! I really appreciate that when the author mis-clicks rather than doing what he intended (as I do!), he explains what happens and why. Thank you!
This tutorial is so awesome! Being dyslexic, I have a hard time learning certain computer programs, especially ones that have to do with drawing/illustrating because the people making the vids assume you already know how to do certain things, so they barley touch on the very basics. This series for Inscape is invaluable! I appreciate the time you took to get it broken down into bite-sized pieces, in simple language, and also explain HOW and WHY things work, or don't work. By showing what each feature does, this helps people think things through and allows them to figure out how to accomplish so many smaller components for a project instead of a select few larger pieces and then be left trying to figure out how to do something original for themselves. This should be the go-to tutorial for anyone learning Inkscape, especially if they have never worked with this type of program before. Thank you for taking the time to make Inkscape nonintimidating, in such an easy-to-understand tutorial! Absolutely top-notch.
Inkscape tutorials are so wonderful for a beginner. I have learned more than with any other tutorials I have watched. Others are so fast I can't even keep up.
You're instructional skills are outstanding. Your pacing is excellent and your laid back style is very good. Thank you sir for creating these, I'll be binge watching your videos for sure!
Love the way you explain things and have fun while doing it. I watched another channel about Inkscape and I just felt lost and overwhelmed. Thanks for sharing.
u sir is one of the best if not the best teacher on youtube, very detailed and straight to the point explanation without spending few min intro telling ppl to sub this and that, i'm so glad i found your channel!
Awesome. That is what I was looking for. A lot of people just teach us how to draw things. They do not teach which tool is doing what. Thank you for letting us know which tool is doing what so that we can have some awesome innovations in the future. Great work.
I had watched you LMMS tutorial earlier when I was new, now I made my game music using LMMS and it's released. Now when I found your tutorials on Inkscape, I'm gonna watch these tutorials cause you are a great teacher.
I loved the ending, "isn't this horrible, this mess I made in this circle?"...hilarious...great, and instructional, thank you for your time! very helpful
man i've really loved Inkscape but you're 'rant' at the end really cleared up why i've been having a turd of a time trying to sketch things! i think i might use GIMP and import across any drawings i need to do.
Thank you so much for these tutorials. Like Dashane below I've learned so much in just two lessons and there are still 21 more to go! You've got a lovely relaxed easy to follow style so I'm working along with you in Inkscape as you teach. Thanks again.
Wow. I am pretty new to Inkscape and have just found your Tutorials. You are brilliant in your tutorials and explanations. Clear, consise and easy to understand for me as a beginner. Thank you Sir for what you have done in these Videos. This is a brilliant program and I have a great desire to be able to use this program in my future projects. You have made this now a definite possibility for me. Please keep up your brilliant work and all the best for your future. I can't wait to move onto No 3 Video.
These vids are a few month old now 😀 and I'm a little late to the party 🎉 I want to say thank you for creating such easy to follow instructions. You approach teaching in a very intelligent manner. You are obviously a smart cookie. I can't wait to watch all of your videos 🙏 🙏 🙏 Happy 2020 😀😀😀
So much impressed by your teaching style , Sir . I would have been so much more vulnerable if I would have got teachers like you in my school or colleges. Much appreciated , looking forward to learn more things from you though.
Thank you!! I am still on this 2nd ep of this inkscape series and know that i will keep watch your videos. Your explanation is very detail but easy to understand. And this ep is so funny especially the tiny "aa" the when you made a mistake at 14:13😂
I guess everything has already been said, so double all those positive comments already stated below.... keep up the simplicity and before we know what happened it will all just make sense... Thanks for the effort and yor time to make this series..
For everyone wondering how to make the star shape show ALL nodes, you have to go to the menu and go to Path -> Object to Path. Not good this explanation was skipped, just had to scour other RU-vid videos to find this.
Really good, I am very excited to have found these videos. I have always wanted to learn to draw on a computer and never found a way until now. Are you doing notes for each video? That would be great. Many thanks.
Hey TJ, I really appreciate all the help, I just became a subscriber and I just bought a Inscape plotter so ,can you give us a example how to write a letter please.?
Question: Is there a way to reset inkscape's settings. I started learning a while ago, but then stopped. Now a whole bunch of my settings are wacky and so it makes it hard to follow along because I'm not sure certain settings are on. If you cover this later on, sorry, I was just hoping to get a good solid headstart on learning again. Thanks
I have a problem, when I draw a shape and want to apply a colour to it the colour doesn't appear the way it has to. for example, I apply a green colour but it is a grey colour that appears.
Very late getting to this video lol. Can you change and bend the top line of a semi-circle? Very very new to Inkscape, I want to get a wavy line at the top of a semi-circle…….if that makes sense. Easy to follow tutorials though….nice
how can I draw shape with white inside and black border? if I filll with white color, border disappears. pl. solve my problem. thanks for the series of lessons.
Object > Fill and Stoke will open a panel on the right. Go to the 'Stroke' tab, and make sure the stroke is enables (the X is not selected) and then you can also change the stroke color here. Holding the shift key while selecting a color along the bottom bar will also change the stroke color only. Hope that helps!
@@TJFREE Thanks for reply. Actually I confused the word "STROKE". We use the word border. (Out line). thanks. (I have little difficulty to understand pronunciations. So I listen twice or thrice. No matter.
That's a really good question. I had to re-watch that part a few times to figure it out myself! Usually to get a star (or any object) into that state you must convert it to a path by using the top menu Path > Object to Path. But I didn't do that. What happened was, when I was demonstrating the erase tool, I applied the eraser inside the box/rectangle area that contained the star. In order to erase into an object, it has to be converted into a path first, and Inkscape does this automatically. This is what happened with the star, even though no visible part of the star was erased, it was still converted to a path automatically because the eraser tool was used inside its box.
In trying to play with the shapes I've changed the star so much that I can't get back to its original star shape. How can I fix that? Uninstalling and reinstalling doesn't even help.
Great Lesson, and excellent teacher! Please I have a question while i was watching video there was a little confusion that how you created the circle with thick outline? I would highly appreciate if get your answer. Thank! 🙏
The set stroke thickness applies to the original shape you draw. If you then scale that shape up to a bigger proportion (using the select tool), the stroke will become bigger too, in proportion with the scaling. However if you were to directly draw a big circle, the same size as the one you scaled before, the stroke would be thin (original set thickness). This doesn't apply to scaling up the shape right after you drew it using the little white square handles (or when you double click it)
Good question. Along the top menu bar, Edit > Preferences > Tools > Shapes then select the shape and select away from 'Last used style' to choose what it should be by default. Happy Inkscaping!
I' m hearing that I need to use Inkscape for converting TT fonts to SVG so I can bring them into Brothers Scan n Cut for use. I would love to see a video on this.
