@@IronEchoDesign is there a way I can contact you I'm trying to laser engrave a letter it's reading the background which is White as fill and I am stuck
Thanks for this. I downloaded Inkscape awhile back but didn’t get anywhere with it because I didn’t understand any of it. I’m sure I’ll be replaying your tutorials several times but this one started clearing the fog for me.
THANK YOU! I just wasted my entire morning watching other RU-vidrs ramble on and on but not teach me a single thing! You explained everything so clearly... And now I finally have a little bit of working knowledge on how to use Inkscape. Thank you for this!
You have a real skill for clarity and pacing. I have used Adobe Creative Cloud for years but don't want to pay hundreds a year to rent software. Yet I could not get my head around Inkscape. This was the first time I watched an Inkscape tutorial that was crystal clear and I totally got everything. Top man!
I was just tired of searching for a beginner's guide for Inkscape. But when I clicked on your video, it was so easy to understand basic tools and everything. You are doing good work. Best of luck.
I never understood Adobe Illustrator and could never afford it anyway. But now that I have a Cricut (Christmas gift from my grandkids!) and need to get more into vector images and stuff, I NEED this program. I just downloaded it and subscribed to your channel because... You make things easy enough for this old grandma to learn something new!! Thank you!
Thank you!! That's so wonderful to hear and it's the reason I started this channel. Good luck on your design journey, and I actually just made a video answering a Cricut question about sticker offset. I need to get ahold of one of those machines myself!
@@IronEchoDesign I watched that one first then browsed through your channel. I have your channel bookmarked and also shared that cool one on the car profile with my grandson. He does stickers/decals for RC cars.
What you did to make the shield was amazing! That's because I saw a tutorial from another RU-vidr who made the same shield using a much more complicated process. He combined a rectangle with a oval shape beneath it and a triangle for the bottom. It took him several attempts to get sizes right of each shape to finally form the overall shape of the shield. Then, he perform the difference function I believe, to finally arrived at the shape of the shield with the one stroke line on the outside and fill color within. Your method was much, much, simpler! Even before you made the shield I could already tell you know your stuff with Inkscape. Great tutorial covering all the basics we'd need to get started. Thank you! - "Like" & Subscribe buttons smashed!!!👍
This was great man, cracked me up how happy you get just explaining basic tools when you must use them all the time. You started glowing when describing the gradient tool hahah
Thank you so much for this video, I've recently started using Inkscape and I'm overwhelmed by all the functions + tools but they way you explained everything just gives me the assurance I needed. Keep up the good work Rick
I must say that this guy is really very good. I don't know him, have never met him but this is a GREAT introduction to INKSCAPE. I was kind of like a guy with a BROWN belt in Karate; I knew just enough to get beat up and not accomplish too much along the way. Just a metaphor, not meant to make fun of someone with a BROWN belt in ANYTHING.. I should say that I'm a disabled veteran. I enjoy trying to do this vector are, albeit not too good yet. I have tried some other paths and this is by far the best one yet. Thank you sir. I truly have enjoyed this exercise and plan to watch this intro a couple of more times.
Thank you Rick this is by far one of the best tutorials for Inkscape I have seen in a long time. Your patience with making sure that every detail is explained is fantastic! I can't wait to see your other lessons. Thank you please keep up the good work.
You're the best thing that happened to me this year. I though I'll never be able to design in my life. Everything changed withing 45 minutes of your video. I just made a professional looking logo. May God bless you abundantly.
I so agree with this comment! I never thought I could draw anything. My skills is in writing but I've started trying drawing & designing recently bc I need income and this his video has helped me to be able to start churn out many designs on IS with great ease that I find are pretty good 😊. It's people like you we need on RU-vid to help people like me. Keep on doing relevant videos. God bless you!
Outstanding overview and introduction! Your presentation style is engaging, articulate, and appropriately paced. Very helpful content. I look forward to watching many more of your videos.
Amazing video!!! Every other one on RU-vid is either no spoken directions with music you don't want to hear, or someone clicking on buttons not explaining their names or function. This foundational video showing you options and tools really encourages me. I'm a quilter/embroidery who has been really wanting to expand my creativity. I'm very much looking to do more modern quilts and wallhangings. Inkscape and these lessons are gonna be very helpful. Thank you again!
Oh my god this was such an amazing tutorial. I’ve had Inkscape mainly for converting raster images to vector images but you taught me so many thing I had no clue about. Thank you!!
Very very nice. Now I’m not gonna be so freaked out about Inkscape. I understand it a little better thanks to your demonstrations. Thank You so so much. You are an excellent tutor. I surely appreciate you. Again, thank you.
Same, I tried Inkscape a long time ago, but gave up because of its complexity. Things should go smoother now that I've been designing for almost years years now. 🥰
I just want to pause and say THANK YOU. you are the first channel that slowed it down enough for me to follow. Most assume you know all the clicks after they said it once.. also I was looking for a channel that will help me understand how to create effects, styles, techniques that I know how to do by hand in art. You are an art lesson as much as an inkscape lesson 😄 Im feeling confident to start inkscaping and im grateful for you. Ill be watching all of your videos now beginning to end lol while i work
Love your channel! I stumbled across it as I was looking how to change a PNG to a SVG on Inkscape. Before I knew it, I was down a rabbit hole watching the background removal video and then this one. You're great explaining the technology - thank you!
Always first: watch Rick! Then start to create! I wish I would have watched this tutorial only one day earlier, so it would have saved me a lot of time and nerves. A free tool and a free Master teacher, all you need is the will to learn the skills. You're doing an amazing job, Rick. Keep going on, we will follow you!
You are great! Thank you for this very easy to follow and thorough guide. I've been using Inkscape for a bit, but am still a beginner. I learned a few things watching this. Thank you so much!! Subscribing now. Have a blessed day.
Thanks! What a great tutorial. So many familiar features from my work with CorelDraw years ago when graphics programs were called computer software not apps. lol
Haha. Exactly! I like designing at my desk on wide screen monitors. Apps are great for on the move, but half the fun is creating the art and seeing it full size!
Draw back you can't create multiple Canvas/Pages I totally agree it's almost a replica of Old CorelDraw they really need to make the right click function same as Corel as well (colouring outline, Duplications etc.)
Inkscape is a tool that I've always wanted to learn. Just from watching this video I've advanced my skills so much. You've certainly got yourself a subscriber.
Thanks from India! Sharing your channel with a group of artists in Gurgaon, Haryana, IN who will find your instructions very helpful! Thank you for clearly explaining all the basics! Subscribed! Cheers!
@@IronEchoDesign Thanks for creating awesome content! I'm binging along the Unauthorised Quick Start Guide and I'm floored by the level of production on your videos. Articulate and very helpful! The tools and options always spun my head and were a huge barrier to my learning. Your clear and concise instructions are now making Inkscape pretty intuitive, and that's a word I never thought I'd use for Inkscape. Thanks again!
Thank you for this video! I've done GIMP for the past 2 years and I wanted to try vector editing for the first time, I understand much more about the tools in inkscape now!
Just went thru the video on a 39deg morning in Florida. Got thru most of the stuff with a bunch of start stop rewinds as I duplicated the work. On the text to page once i had my cutout circle I just selected the existing "donut" and text to path to it and flipped and slid it around. Was easier than drawing another circle and guessing the size.
Exactly the tutorial I was looking for, I was watching one guy who spent 12 minutes or something on the rectangle tool stumbling over his words, so good thanks man
Oh, my goodness. Your tutorial is very easy to follow. (Although I did have to put you on slow mode. LOL) Thank you for taking the time to create this for us. I'm new to Inkscape and this was very helpful. I will replay several times to reinforce the sequencing. Thanks again.
Thank you so much, I’m learning tNice tutorials in quarantine and you made it very simple I really appreciate it, thank you for going over every little
Great tutorial as usual, I've been bingeing on your video learning so much from you. I am completely new to inkscape and so far your channel has been a place of great resources for learning this awesome software. Thank you once again
OMG I left my Playback Speed to 0.75 (from a previous tutorial) while watching you...and it was glorious! After watching the whole thing and realizing what happened only did I realize you weren't high or just talked really slow lol loved it all the way man, like being taught by the coolest surfer dude you know. Cheers! Awesome tutorial, subscribing!
Thank you so much for this video!! I have had Inkscape for a couple of months and wasnt sure how to use it, but now with your help, I am certain I will be able to use confidently!!
This video is from a few years ago. The toolbars changed with the latest update. I made a new Quickstart video to keep up with the changes if you want to check it out: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-cCaYMlugQyc.html. Hope this helps!
Thanks so much for this quick overview of Inkscape. I'm new to the program and was overwhelmed by most of the taskbar functions, I really enjoyed how you explained and demonstrated each part. Please keep making these great videos, will definitely check out your other videos.
Thanks for this comprehensive and very clear introduction to the basics of Inkscape. Just downloaded the programme and I'm now looking forward to trying it.
Thanks so much! It's really fun, and they're making it better every year.

hey man! thanks for this! i am a teen student and just started freelancing! i really need this tutorial so i could earn money... having a rough life right now! wish you good luck!!!
Hello, nice video here and I really do appreciate this video as I have been looking for explanatory videos on using Inscape and it has been truly helpful.
Thanks so much for this tutorial Rick, it was just what I was looking for. I am now also a subscriber to your chanel Greetings from Sweden and Happy New Year!
When I first found out Inkscape I thought it would be a lame program... After a long time, I found this video of yours and I actually learned a lot of stuff. Thanks a lot! ;)
@@IronEchoDesign I appreciate your efforts to make this an enjoyable learning experience. I was so intimidated by all the tools and buttons I had no idea what they were! Was just watching your tutorial on mandalas. Once again AMAZING! You put it in such a perfect perspective. Keep up the amazing work Sir. Deserve a lot more recognition!
@@IronEchoDesign can confirm man you’re doing an awesome job. I personally have trouble learning new things like this and you’ve made Inkscape a lot simpler to comprehend. I’m also trying to learn DeVinci Resolve which is insanely difficult.. My kids and I can start making our own colouring in pictures etc instead of looking online. Even make birthday cards for their friends. Possibilities are endless! Can’t wait for my drawing tablet to arrive so I can start drawing with the pen. Using the mouse I just can’t do it 😂 once I get that, I can draw stream logos by hand which will be a lot easier for me. Actually have you got a tutorial video on how to make a concept art background or detailed background at least?
