@@RicardoLinoHi! I’m loving your channel and content. New to inlines but not quads and there is a steep learning curve it seems. I am a female and ended up buying PS Imperial 80 Lollipops but find them quite uncomfortable but don’t know what to compare it to because I’ve not worn any before. How do I know if it won’t get better after “breaking it in” or whether it just does not feel comfortable in general and won’t get better? Then after watching a bunch of RU-vid videos I went with hard instead of soft but I found that the Zetrablades felt a bit more comfortable overall but everyone online was saying it does not give proper ankle support and until I build up muscle in my leg, ankle, calves, etc I didn’t want to chance getting hurt. Any thoughts or insight?

I went from a set of Rollerblade Tempest skates which I'm pretty sure are soft-boot skates, to flying eagle hard-boot skates, and I remember how jarring the difference was. The thing that stood out to me was how much more confident I was with my feet with the hard-boot skates. It was crazy though, after 2 to 3 months of getting used to the Flying Eagles, I tried my Rollerblade Tempest skates again and I had no idea how I ever skated in them!
@RicardoLino
@RicardoLino 7 лет назад
Tony Greenman I totally get what your saying, but the tempest are more like a skate for marathons etc, and the flying eagles are more like urban skates . But some softboot urban skates or even soft boot aggressive skates are really stiff. I get it really go for brand tô Brand and model to model 👍🏼👊🏼💥

Thanks for your informative video Lino, as always. I started skating recently, with a K2 fit84 (soft). It was very comfortable but I had a hard time staying on center edge. The Velcro strap worn out and I replaced them with the twister80 (hard). Quite uncomfortable, gave me some blisters, had to hear mold the boot and only now, after a month, I am quite comfy. But, from day 1, the center edge was perfect, I noticed a difference in power transfert, and it was very responsive (shorter frame and smaller wheels I guess). When I'll be good enough with many sliding stops, I will gladly try those triskates that you love so much 😇. Thanks for your great work and dedication

Thank you so much for posting this. I’ve been looking into many questions as I am researching triskates. As I grew up with figure skating, I’m not used to the normal hard shell for skates. I recently cut the tops off of my hard boots so that I could move my ankles (don’t worry, they were cheep’o skates)
@yanava
@yanava 6 лет назад
I think I know the answer for the speed skate question. The speed skate technique requires that a few areas are quite hard, noticeably the heel. The remaining of the skate needs to made easier to tight and compress around the speed skater foot. This will allow maximum power transfer from the legs to the wheels. If you do an entire hard boot skate for speed skating, you will most certainly have to use an all carbon construction and have the whole thing molded to the skater feet, which will be unecessarily expensive. Otherwise you will find small gaps of air between the foot and the skate, and these gaps will be responsible for less than optimal power transfer. In summary, you reinforce the areas you want to have maximum power transfer and do soft, but tight and well molded areas to wrap around the skater feet. Anything else will waste energy.

@DavidSkis
@DavidSkis 7 лет назад
I get you're saying there are lots of factors. And sure, a hard shell boot could be crap. In general, the hard shell skate will generally be more supportive than the soft skate. In the skating world, it's why slalom skaters use a hard boot - they need the support hard shells provide. And in the ski and snowboard world, racers use hard boots - they provide better power transfer and support.
@RicardoLino
@RicardoLino 7 лет назад
DavidSkis exactly. From what you said there's only one thing I don't agree, which is. Slalom skaters , the best at least use softboot / Carbon skates and they are a lot stiffer then any plastic hardboot skate. 👊🏼but exactly what you said.. so many factors that we can't say soft is more comfortable or hard his more supportive .. there more the the top of the skate being leather of plastic 👊🏼💥❤️

Nice! I've a pair of K2 uptowns closely based on the fatty they feel very stiff and supportive for a softboot. People sometimes say larger/heavier skaters are better with a hard boot..also hard boots are generally heavier?
@RicardoLino

i gues just like i said in the videos..every skate is diferent. there are so many variables..we can t say one is better or more supportive..goes from skate to skate ;)

Just my two cents; I'm an aggressive skater, and for people who think that hard boot skates are uncomfortable, its quite the opposite. Hard boot skates are extremely comfortable and they have great support.
@victorxarisorg
@victorxarisorg 18 дней назад
I agree; I started with a pair of fitness skates, and while they were comfortable, they flopped around side-to-side so much that I felt I was wasting my energy. I then moved to freestyle skates (Powerslide Zoom/Next), and they are comfortable despite the hard boot, BUT provide the support that the cheap fitness skates lacked. I love my hard-boot skates: they are super-supportive and plenty comfortable. It's a matter of trying different models and finding the ones that fit the shape of your foot best, providing both comfort and support.

Cheers!

Good info, Ricardo! You're like a RU-vid encyclopedia dedicated to inline skates. = ) Anyway, been on soft-boot fitness skates (pretty sure). New skater, but I've already decided that I'd like to try more like slalom / aggressive / artistic / inline skate dancing / jamming (not sure what the last one's technically called). A bit tough for me to balance so far on the outside edge of one skate, but I'm working on it, even though the soft boot makes me feel like my foot may be slipping a skosh -- a skosh floppy in the boot. (I do my best to lace 'em down well. I can only get my soft boots laced down so far, so I have to compensate by really working on my balance. Probably for the best, really. ; ) Would love to upgrade later on to more of a freeskate I can spin on. Been trying that a little -- just a little -- already on my soft-booted fitness skates, and I love it! = D

Great video! To try and answer your question “why is there no hard boot speed skate?” I believe it would not work for several reasons. The loss of power transfer as you mentioned. Also there isn’t a precise enough fit, which is directly related to power transfer. Finally speed skaters aren’t at all worried about comfort : the old adage “no pain no gain” definitely applies! “We don’t need no stinking liners” lol I prefer “soft boots” with carbon. Seba CJ and Marathon for me, with Rollerblade Metroblade also at the top of the list. There is something really nice about the precise fit of soft boot with carbon, which isn’t really soft at all. I think one of the real values in hard boots, besides aggressive park skating, is they can help to provide a kind of ankle stiffness that can makes skating easier for beginners and also have impact durability. Not to say they aren’t also good for intermediate and advanced! Overall I think there’s so many good options available for all skating disciplines, and all are valid even though not everyone will agree about soft boot vs hard boot. Finally thanks for the all of the great videos!

ciao lino! I really like your videos, really inspiring! its impressive how you can skate everythingfrom aggressive to quad! I Am getting addicted to your vlogs =) can i Have an advice from you?? im really a beginner and absolutely not talented skater, i hate that i need to do 30/40 minutes of car to reach the first and only skatepark. I live in the north east of italy, the right place for skiing, not really for skating (DH maybe). now i roll a pair of rollerblade solo with an antirocker 62mm or a kizer 4x80 mm in street. but, has i said, i can't go to the skatepark everyday so i can't progress how i want to... for me aggressive is the most fun skating but for now i need to improve in street! so what setup should i use?I like the sway,i saw your videos and they seem to be universal skates for aggressive, powerblade and triskate.is it ok for a beginner or should i buy something like the rb 110 3wd or something like a powerslide fr1/fr2/imperial or fila nrk... there are so many skates in the market.... i love seeing you trying all them but i need to go for the cheapest and universal solution so they sway sounds good (120 euros with kizer 4x72).is it maybe similar to the rb solo/fusion?? thaaaaankss man keep on spreading this sport!!!

Hey Ricardo great video! I'm having a similar battle with my k2 unnatural. They are so stiff and the cuff is so high that unless I have them really loose at the top I can barely bend my knees. Just wondered if you had tried them and or had any tips in how to get the best out of them or could recommend an alternative for a beginner in aggressive skating.

@benjamindavid6873
@benjamindavid6873 7 лет назад
Mark, i had the same issue as you. I always was skating k2 fattys when i was skating. So after a long abstinence (about 10years) i got me a k2 frontstreet 2016. It was Stiff as fuck and the area above the cuff was to high and that extra strap was annoying. After a month of hardcore skating the skate wasnt better so i got a k2 unnatural 2016. OMG that skate felt so good in comparison. Still stiff, high cuff, annoying extra Strap but much better flex and comfort. Excellent for jumps and powerblading. But the biggest problem is the royal angle. I couldnt touch the curb/rail with the backslideplate. Then i changed the frame to a groundcontrol flt3(antirocker setup), but still no change. Out of frustration i changed to a usd carbon free montre livingston boot. Now everything is fine. i can really lay down on my boot so much easier because of the big carbon soulplates, lower cut on the cuff and softer boot. Which gives me super flex but it can also be unstable at first while landing jumps. So I like the unnatural somehow, yes i really do. But when it comes to the royale angle. It is super hard to touch with the backslideplate. Carbon skate was the easy way out for me.

Benjamin David cheers. I've tried big wheel set up freeskating in them for hours. I just don't think they suit my style or lack there of! I nearly went for the aeons so ill have a look at both suggestions. I think I'm just learning aggressive and the carbons are a bit pricey.
@markhodges333
@markhodges333 7 лет назад
THE LINO LIFE it was between the aeons and the unnatural. I went for k2 out of childhood nostalgia! I should have asked first!
@benjamindavid6873
@benjamindavid6873 7 лет назад
Mark Hodges yes i thought the same. With k2 you cant go wrong haha. Check out the usd seven first, before you buy the aeons. Seven is cheap and has a very good soulplate. Even alot of carbon riders change the carbon-soulplate to seven-soulplate. And you can change the frame. What you cant do with aeons. Aeon has no UFS. It should have a good frame and soulplate. But if you dont like it, you are stuck with it. Usd sway could be a Option too. I dont know your level of skating, but k2 unnaturals should be fine for starting out with aggressive skating. If i were you, i would keep them until you reach the level where you wanna try Royals and Unitys.

Kaze Swell Tau, are not comfortable for Ankles. It's not really SOFT boot. I have tried and every one gave me some ankle pain. From Powerslide brand, only HC EVO is good for me. The rest is not enough comfortable for me.
@victorxarisorg
@victorxarisorg 18 дней назад
I understand the problem; my ankle bones (on the inside part of the foot) protrude more than the average person's. It's a matter of trying different models, to find the one(s) that fit the shape of your foot best while still providing plenty of support. Or you can do what I did, which was to heat-treat the plastic boot to mold away the pain points. Now my hard-boot skates are snug and comfortable!

USD Aeon 72 or USD carbon/free(maybe Adapt or Remz) with 72 setup? I currently use Aeons, but they are so stiff. Will be carbon/free softer, but still safe? If yes, still safe enought for 76-80mm setup? Just learned Makio grind and Im happy - its was the point: fsk or aggressive(powerblading) skates to go next. Im almost 29 and its my first season with the inline skates. Also, Im about powerblading/fsk, not grinderblading, so its not about groove on frames. P.S. Aeons soleplates wears so fast, and replacement cost a lot: $80 for frame+plate vs $10-20 for normal pates. And since i can do only Makio its wears much faster if i can soul/fs/bs/pornstar/etc... When you slide with both feet.

glamball carbons are stiffer then carbons frees 👍🏼 as for the aeons I usually skate then with the buckle a bit loose and used to skate tight liner and got lots of flex... but if you need dispor you. Buckle them up real tight . I usually don't 😉👍🏼

LINO! you didn't answer my question from the other day: Would the Fatboy liners work well in the classic style remz?
@RicardoLino
@RicardoLino 7 лет назад
hi Kunle..yes they do..!sorry about missing you answer....check this guy, Myron Mance, he is a professional Gimbal operator in the high end cinema industry and he uses his remz with FAT BOY liners, he said he feels the skates a lot more comfortable and more supportive too: instagram.com/p/BV6qAEgh0cO/?taken-by=myron_mance

POWERSLIDE V 100 JESPER vs MOON GREY 100 ??? plizz help
@RicardoLino
@RicardoLino 7 лет назад
Love both, but only have the jesper 110 myself. i guess the main diference is wheel size and frame lenght...i would say, if you like big wheels go jesper ;) if you wanna be closer to the grouns and seen at night , moon grey , they glow have reflective details ;)

I prefer soft boot, all hardboot skates I have tried eventually gave me blisters with the pressure points in my foot

Hard Boots For Me Because, Soft Boots Are Very Painful And Unstable For My Left Food. So I Stick With Hard Boots For Now.

Why there are no hardboot speedskates? a low boot gives you more freedom of movement, helps to go faster. im from holland, here you start as a child with hardboot ice skates and only when you progress you go to low full leather ice skates. The full leather skates give a lot of freedom .

Muhammad Khalique Mohamad Zulkipli yap. Changed it slowly last week. 👊🏼 I guess the music at the end would make people switch is of before the end and that affects the channel a bit. So this way will hopefully keep you in the video I'll the end and have youtube help suggesting this video to more people.. want more people seeing. Skating 👊🏼

Hard boot speed skate....Thats the Powerslide Next ,right?
@victorxarisorg
@victorxarisorg 18 дней назад
The Powerslide Next is more of a freestyle skate, though the ones with bigger wheels provide plenty of speed.

I do not like soft boot Swell skates. I bought them for distances. It was the biggest mistake. Period.
