Helen will Always be ( to me anyway) a great historian, fantastic singer and a phenomenal person. I am truly heartbroken that she is gone. Her amazing control of her voice and her spirit remains in all of us who loved her. Queen Helen, Thank you. Rest in the arms of God. ❤️💪🏻❤️💪🏻❤️
When Helen Reddy passed recently, I felt I had lost a friend....She will be missed, and always loved. 💜 We will have her music to comfort us. 'Peaceful'
RIP Helen Reddy. I always like to think that she is sharing her God given voice and talent with the heaven audiences in eternity. She is surely a legend.
9/29/2020 RIP “She was a wonderful Mother, Grandmother and a truly formidable woman. Our hearts are broken. But we take comfort in the knowledge that her voice will live on forever.”
What a fantastic interview. Helen Reddy was one of the greats. She will be missed, but her work will live on forever. Thank you for posting this terrific video.
She is fantastic ! My mom had the record with I am woman, I was in the basement of my mom's the other day and found it. I used to listen to it all the time !
She is a trailblazer for both women and also for Australians. What courage it took to come to a foreign land with a few hundred dollars and Traci and stay for the ride.
Great interview Ernie...I have interviewed her before, she is fascinating, quick, and witty, and not one to suffer fools easily, or what she considers silly questions. You did a great job. She is truly a wonderful talent, and a true superstar of the 70's and one who has always been very underestimated. Kudo's great interview!
Very well done. Great rapport between the both of you. I've seen Helen Reddy in various other interviews where she appeared irritated and guarded. Not with this one. You brought out the best in this fantastic entertainer. Thank you!
Oh my, I haven't see Helen for such a long time. She still has her signature hair style and beautiful....love her voice. "I AM WOMAN'. Thanks for sharing Karen.
@Tracy Sharp So true, she's modest and down to earth and yet a superstar in her own right. Her music brings back memories of my friends and youth. Much of which are both gone.
I adore her! When I was a little girl my Aunt played all her songs as I tagged along on her dates her........I loved it. But it wasn't til now I really got obsessed with her.. Her drive....her courage....her I don't give a sh.. What everyone thinks attitude.. I wish I was more like her and She is my example to.be that way.... Too Helen....what you have done for so many is amazing.. P
Helen seems so relaxed during this interview. Ernie did a good job keeping Helen on track. Sometimes she’s seemed aloof or uninterested in past interactions. This was a joy to watch.
This was a great interview and I enjoyed every minute of it. Growing up in the 70s I had a major crush on Helen. Always loved watching any TV special she appeared in including her show the Helen Reddy show. R.I.P. Helen ❤
Without a doubt, this is one of the best interviews that have ever watched. I found it to be remarkably fascinating, respectful, warm, and like I was eavesdropping on an intimate dinner. Brilliant. Well done, Sir. I can't wait to see more of your interviews with people that I admire or with whom i am interested.
This is a wonderful interview. I wish I had been born earlier so that I could have known what a powerhouse Helen Reddy was at the time. Beautiful, incredibly talented and a brilliant example of a strong, feisty, elegant and intelligent woman. She will forever be my childhood Nora.
Excellent interview. Helen Reddy. What a remarkable woman. A wise, strong and beautiful soul. May her journey continue to illuminate the path for the next wave of awakenings. Thank you.
Christine Newhouse pete, a kid, is an orphan and was essentially purchased by a family of abusive hillbillies. The dragon comes to him and they eventually run away, coming to a town where he meets Helen’s character. It’s on disney+
Me too, and there are scenes from Pete's Dragon on RU-vid. My favorite is her singing "Candle on the water" and "It's so easy", my two favorites from that movie.
Always loved Helen's music and singing. But when she said she had an out of body experience I had associated it with my own at age 15. I thought I had died and emediately went back to my body sat up and gasped for a big breath of coarse I was lying on my bed. LOL She is lovely so lovely I wish I had known her on a personal level.
She looked so much as my wife’s aunt Janey to me it’s like looking at her. Once she hadn’t seen me for a while and she said Billy! what did you do to your hair? I had started to turn gray and thought I had colored it somehow. Helen was astonishingly beautiful.
I heard Helen talking at an interview about the video for I am woman. She said it was done in Switzerland out on a cow pasture, and she said there were these huge piles of liquid shit everywhere! And she had to be so careful about where she stepped. She said the smell of shit was overpowering and it was extremely hot that day with no wind, and yet she had to do nine retakes . Finally she turned to Jeff and told him I will do one more and then I am leaving what do you like it or not and then she said I won’t even do another take I’m out of here! Jeff let’s go now and the camera crew can do whatever they want later. If you look at that video you’ll see all the livestock behind her and she said she had to run across the field to get to the parking lot, and she saw a bull mount a cow right in front of her! And that was the straw that broke the camels back! She did not talk to her husband for two days for getting her into this!
Great interview. Helen isn't this nice all the time so she must really like this guy & his questions. She was notoriously nasty & difficult when at her peak. Im sure her husband at the time had a hand in her behaving poorly.
@Tracy Sharp I did a little research, and she was involved in some awful scenes, definitely instigated by her husband/manager, although I can't speak to how she behaved once she dumped him, after having a son with him. Ms. Reddy was a talent to be reckoned with, certainly. I believe her character was evident when she belted out "I Am Woman" in LA during the January 2017 Women's gathering. She was unfortunately suffering from some form of senility, but overall her message was/is one of female empowerment, and I'm very grateful for her compelling artistry in delivering that message.
@Tracy Sharp I was surprised to hear of her run ins with other performers & her unreasonable demands. Her husband at the time of her peak success was a known addict & very volatile I believe the person who exposed her bad behavior is comedienne Tom Dreesen. Im not sure if its definitely someone who was on the bill with her. Helen was abusive & demanding to many other people along the way.
I like Helen Reddy but let's be honest, she was nowhere near the Queen Of 70s Pop , that title belonged to Donna Summer who sold 20times as many records as Reddy.
+Dan Frost As far as i'm concerned, that title goes to Linda Ronstadt, who had significantly more Billboard Top 100 singles than Reddy and whose commercial success didn't fizzle out by the late '70s.
+NewWorldAhead Even just counting 1970-79 Ronstadt had more songs appear on the Billboard Top 100. Also, unlike Reddy she was on the covers of the magazines Rolling Stone and Time.
roguenation I agree... I'm just saying Helen was pure "pop"... Ronstadt crossed into country and rock. Also, during the 1970s the only solo female artist other than Olivia Newton John with MORE than 10 top 20 hits was Helen.
You must have not owned a transistor radio or listened to AM radio. Her records would not have been played on 1970's AOR (Album Oriented Rock) FM stations, if that was your bag.
