As a miniature computer, the BBC micro:bit can perform a variety of tasks taking in information and controlling outputs. Ideas about inputs and outputs are extremely useful: they help you think about a task and plan the program of instructions.
The video shows how the variety of sensors built into the micro:bit may be used as inputs to programs: buttons, microphone, light level, accelerometer and magnetometer. In addition there are demonstrations of external sensors connected as inputs: temperature, light and ultrasound (distance). Inputs are used to control a range of internal and external output devices: LEDs, multicoloured pixel LEDs (Neopixels), buzzer, speaker (for music), servos. motors and radio signals.
Throughout, the demonstration programs use the Mr Bit method of showing instructions in plain English.
