Thrax arrives on Graia with an escort of Black Templars to investigate Captain Titus for signs of heresy, due to Leandros' suspicion that he has fallen to Chaos. Titus agrees to cooperate after Thrax states that his entire Company and everyone associated with him will be assumed to be corrupted if he resists, and dealt with appropriately. Titus is then taken into Inquisitorial custody. However, contrary to standard procedure, Thrax does not ask Titus to disarm himself, strongly implying he does not actually believe Leandros. Epilogue. The End of Warhammer 40.000: Space Marine game. #CJakeWarhammer #SpaceMarine #CaptainTitus #Warhammer #Warhammer40k #CJakeSpaceMarine. ►Watch more Space Marine videos: bit.ly/cjakewar....

This is different from beings like the Tau majority who are simply unable to access the Warp and don't have a presence there to begin with. If Aeldari are huge neon billboards in the Warp, humans are tiny, fragile candle flames, and Tau are unlit candles, then Blanks are a scary emptiness in the Warp. Professor Sponge Interestingly it was revealed in an interview with the game's writer that it was intended to be the set up for sequels but because THQ went under, development for the next two were cancelled. In the second game Titus was to be tried for heresy by the Inquisition, escape, go rogue and continue fighting for the Imperium independently before returning in the third game as a Chapter Master of a new Chapter he had built from other non-Chaotic renegades and restore his honour. Shame, it sounds like it would have been awesome.

kingkong381 And this really goes against Ultramarine lore, as they are extremely anal about going by the codex astartes. And you.... Have failed." Few Space Marine individuals I respect as much as Titus. Among them numbers only Gabriel Angelos, Sergeant Tarkus and perhaps one or two more. But even above them Titus just spoke how it should be. How Roboute Guilluman intended the Codex to be interpreted. I'm going with the Blank theory. Blanks (not Pariahs) can go their entire lives without even knowing what they are because they have the recessive form of the gene. What Titus says about the Codex is ultimately true. It was written as a standard set of guidelines for the Ultramarines by their Primarch and later after the Herrasy adapted by most chapters as they were founded predominantly from Ultramarine stock. Guilliman himself has stated that the codex cannot be taken as an absolute truth and has shown in the elaborate war games he held during the Herrasy that it can be wrong. Even Rawbutt Girlyman said as much: "‘But your teachings…’ ‘Are yet flawed,’ said Guilliman. ‘No one, not even one such as I, can anticipate every possible outcome of battle. My words are not some holy writ that must be obeyed. There must always be room for personal initiative on the battlefield. You and I both know how one spark of heroism can turn the tide of battle. Both Helbrecht and Grimaldus goes against the Inquisition, and saves the last standing Celestial Marine, and starts rebuilding the entire chapter, as a huge "FUCK YOU" to Ordo Hereticus.

Why would Black Templars provide security for an inquisitor, or have anything to do with an inquisitor? In Dawn of War 1's campaign Captain Angelos tells Inquisitor Toth that no inquisitor has the authority to comandeer or command a space marine unit, so why would Black Templars be hanging with an inquisitor?

@FerreusVir
@FerreusVir 8 лет назад
*Disclaimer* I loved this game, from beginning to end, I am a fan. Now, that out of the way - this ending would NEVER happen - not in any 40k story I've ever read. First, Titus is a Captain, second only to the Chapter Master (who, admittedly in this game/version of 40k may not be Marneus, but let's assume he is), and answers to no one outside the chapter and Emperor. It's written that Space Marines are beholden to no one save the Emperor - even a standard Leandros-level marine can tell an Inquisitor to fuck himself and is above reproach. It might not be the wisest course of action, but there it is. Second, 'Investigated for signs of heresy'? What sort of bullshit is this? If a marine has proven resistant to the powers of Chaos or straight up immune to them, the librarius immediately begins testing him for signs of latent psychic ability. As Titus is a Captain, his entire company/battle company would be present for this fight - not that it's seen in game - but we'll assume they are so, knowing that, a librarian or two would be apart of that detachment - and would be able to speak on the matter. Not some superstitious, newly minted tactical marine. Third, It's common among the more free-thinking chapters to encourage outside-the-box thinking, like Titus does. The Ultramarines Primarch, Roboute Guilliman WROTE the Codex Astartes, they know it better than any (it's argued that the Imperial Fists are even more codex compliant, but that's an argument for later), and Titus uses it's teaching as guidelines - as he (paraphrased)does throughout his training of Leandros. The Codex Astartes says NOTHING about what Leandros mentions concerning corruption at the briefest touch of Chaos - how could it? In the Codex itself its described how a Librarius is to be staffed - all Space Marines who are warp-touched. This entire line of bullshit Leandros uses is contradicted by the very text he spouts is the reason for turning the Captain in. Fourth, just like in any military, or any establishment where there are two or more members, personalities clash and not everyone can agree. Marines are no different, but in the case of Leandros questioning almost every action the Captain makes...? Yeah that's crap. Had Leandros' character been founded in anything other than bullshit, none of this would have happened. A brother marine betrays the captain of your company, akin to some as a father and all as a fellow brother? There's ZERO chance Leandros isn't killed or excommunicated from the chapter for that - if not that, he's a black sheep for his entire life, what's left of it. I don't get why they did everything so well as far as lore goes with this game, the style of the weapons, combat, and over all feel of the game was spot on. Then they give you this stupid ass ending...it's like they had one set of writers for 99% of the game and the last 1% was written by someone's Eldar-fanboy offspring.
@ETH5626
@ETH5626 8 лет назад
+FerreusVir Well said, but as for the last part where The Codex Astartes says NOTHING about what Leandros mentions concerning corruption at the briefest touch of Chaos. I think it was due to the fact that THQ was going bankrupt and it was one of those they thought up 5 secs before hand. Not the best way to go out with a bang.
@Subitia900
@Subitia900 8 лет назад
Just because they can say no to an inquisitor doesn't make it a good idea. Plenty of chapters have crossed the inquisition and it hasn't always ended well for them. The Celestial Lions were almost wiped out for crossing them. Yeah the Librarius would start testing them, but in this case they never got the chance because of Leoandros. And there is point of the amount of warp exposure and whatnot. It's been a while since I've played the campaign, but Titus gets exposed to the power source which iirc is basically pure warpstuff. It's a fair suspicion that somethings up when you take all that and nothing happens (Doesn't mean chaosy, he might be a pariah or something). *edit* And they would also check for chaos taint, not just latent psychic powers, warp exposure is warp exposure. The 40k Ultramarines follow the codex religiously, and as far as I know we (the players) don't technically know everything in the codex so there might be stuff on the warp. Which would make sense for Guilliman to add after the heresy. And as mentioned above, the Ultramarines follow the codex religiously, deviation from it is often accompanied by censure, hence why Leandros is against Titus so much. Titus is a free thinker and adapts and deviates from the codex, something that isn't really accepted amongst the Ultramarines. Take Uriel Ventris for example. "Only the destruction of the Hive Fleet's controlling Norn-Queen at the hands of Ventris and a Deathwatch Kill-team saved the planet from destruction. But in destroying the Norn-Queen, Ventris had deserted his men, and upon returning to Macragge, a furious Sergeant Learchus reported this breach of the Codex Astartes to the Chapter's leaders. Captain Ventris was spared the expected execution for his breach of Ultramarine doctrine and instead given a Death Oath..."

Did you notice Titus was allowed to keep his gun? If an inqusitor thought you were a heretic then your gear would be taken away as soon as possible i.e. straight away. You would also be restrained before airlift, as a space marine can easily crash a transport, especially with warp enhanced abilites, and if he was a heretic that means he is likely to have some gifts from the gods.

Well, in this case, is not as much as threating the Ultramarines chapter, but to the Imperial Guard girl over there. Black Templars and Inquisition hate each other. GK don't just follow Inquisitors around, their existence is meant to be secret, just as Chaos is meant to be secret. If you aren't a space marine, an IG officer, a veteran IG soldier on daemon battlefields, Mechanicus, Inquisition, or Planetary Governor/High-level Adeptus Arbites, you generally have no idea Chaos exists at all. Even fewer get to know that the GK exist because if everyone did there'd be more chances for info to get out, and thus the security of Man's best defense against daemons compromised. With the End Times approaching due to this new Black Crusade having ALL Daemon Primarchs on board, they're going to need the GK more than ever. Sisters might show up with him.

Leandros is going to be in some deep trouble when he returns home. I mean, he sent one of his own battle brothers to the hands of Inquisition instead of reporting to his chapter, which is the expected course of action among space marines. As for Titus, he will be fine. Considering they let him go on board unrestrained and armed Thrax doesn't seem to consider him a danger. As for Mira, if she manages to survive the campaign and the inquisitor thinks Titus (And therefore, her) is non corrupted she has a bright future in the Imperial Guard. I mean, she and the soldiers under her command managed to hold the line even when they were expected to have fallen long ago.

In three : an imperial guard telling to a Space Marine to "ignore the inquisition" ? Are we supposed to laugh or cry ? Four : Titus is suspected because he RESISTED to warp influence ? In the better case, that's stupide, or he is simply a Pariahs and it's a good thing, though Imperium uses them like any other weapons that counter warp effects.

From what I have heard, the Ultramarines follow the Codex Astartes to the letter without exception, whether a marine is in battle or "on leave". Based off of what Titus said to Leandros about the Codex, it would seem to me that Leandros is a typical Ultramarine while Titus is not(his Warp resistance is not what I'm talking about). I have no idea what the Codex says, but even if Titus wasn't brought in by the Inquisition, wouldn't he be punished in some way for his behavior on the battlefield? Hopefully someone will clear this up for me, because how the Ultramarines are described, Titus either doesn't act like one or is one of the most interesting Ultramarines ever along with Sidonus.

They do not follow the Codex Astartes to the letter without exception. In terms of the organization of a Space Marines chapter, they are quite rigid, but in terms of the codes of ethics and guidelines on how a Space Marine should act, they allow some deviation. In fact, among the Founding Loyalist Legions, the Imperial Fists follow the codex the most strictly, despite the fact that their Primarch, Rogal Dorn, was initially the most vehemently opposed to it.
