The markings and paintings on flying deck, captain's bridge, flyco and admirals bridge are done by our team... Feel proud to be a part of INS Vikrant. ❤❤❤
June 03,2013 at 1900 hrs. I liked the documentary, but as an ex sailor who served on the first INS Vikrant, the commentary states that INS Vikrant became a maritime museum, which is incorrect. It broke my heart when INS vikrant was broken up, and aold as scrap in Mumbai. Jai Hind
Yeah It played a prominent role in 1971 Indo Pak war and should have been preserved in a museum but the metal scrap was purchased by motorcycle manufacturing company Bajaj and they created a motorcycle out of the scrap and named vikrant
With $melly $tinky Indians $hitting all over the ship, the whole ship became a high level bio hazard threat to any living being therefore the ship has to be demolished, destroyed and reduced to untouched and inaccessible scrap and kept in a complete isolated state of existence to protect the future of human race.
@@Toptop80thanks man. We've built everything; stealth destroyers, frigates, Corvettes, conventional subs, nuclear ballistic subs. The only thing left is nuclear attack subs

Nicely researched video. About the third carrier though, its likely that the plans for a 65,000 ton heavy carrier have been moved to next decade. Current plans seem to be building a sister ship of INS Vikrant. That way it can be built quickly and at lesser cost. Funds are also needed to fund 11 other classes of warships and 5 other submarine classes all being built or designed in India right now. As it is Indian Navy gets the smallest share of the Indian military budget as the lion's share goes to the Army and Air Force (because primary concern is China and Pakistan just across the border from us). So funds for a 65,000 ton Vishal class carrier will only be available in next decade.
Yes! I was going to post this as well. The Indian navy has decided to go for a repeat order of the Vikrant (sister ship) And due to the experience gained, it can be completed in 8 years with minimal budget overruns. Vishal will come after that.
Correction: History of Indian navy is way long starting from the Chola empire and its epitome during Maratha Emperor Shivaji Maharaja with staggering 400 warships of various sizes in the 1630s
The third aircraft carrier IAC 2 have been confirmed by the indian navy. It will likely be a sister ship of IAC 1 but with a larger body, increase fire power, flat top deck, and a EMALS Catobar system. It may be around 50,000-60,000 tone catagory.
@@roshanjohnson7467 its not confirmed for stobar. US and india are currently working on development of indigenous EMALS CATOBAR, and also the budget set for the second carrier is around 5 billion dollars, and out of that 5 billion, around 1 billion will be used on the EMALS CATOBAR system. Even if they change there plan, then also its garunteed that it will have a flat deck, hence it will have a CATOBAR system. Also it wont be just an upgraded version, even though it will be a sister ship, the displacement will be larger than INS Vikrant (around 55000-60000 ton), with more indigenousness contents, more firepower, more space for fighters and even better systems.
This is a great achievement for India, and the country has enormous potential. Just bare in mind that if India becomes too successful, it may end up on the 🇺🇸 's hit list! We all know how they despise a competitor, in a world they believe they own!! 🤔
Pride of India.... True, as it clearly narrated, it may not be the biggest or most modern or most lethal, but Truly Indian... There are only 6 countries in the world that have this capability...

funnily enough, India has actually operated every type of aircraft carrier. CATOBAR, STOBAR, and VTOL. I hear the next Indian carrier Vishal is going to be CATOBAR which is good. Cope-slopes are no way to go.

Only thing which both Indian carrier group lack as compared to American Navy is nuclear powered carrier and size also to some extent. But It has a enough range for Indian ocean, and well defended with Barak 8 and it has a complete carrier strike group with destroyers (with Brahmos), frigates also each have a nuclear capable Arihant class submarine that can deliver a nuclear warhead along with conventional submarines. China should be careful in Indian Ocean specially Strait of Malacca. Chinese govt. can't survive without Trade that's the route. Afterall, India is only country that has an Ocean name before/after it's own name thanks to Indian Subcontinent. So it must control it.
It may not be the most powerful but we are proud of the fact that it was made in our country and now we have the technology to make aircraft carriers. Similarly, a country can develop well by not being dependent on others but by developing them on its own. Making things and learning. We may not get success in the beginning but if we do it again and again we will definitely get it. We are proud that our country is moving towards self-reliant India day by day.❤️🇮🇳
@@jusstinbarber For that also we have made Tejas and will upgrade it and give it to the Navy. Our country is also working on advanced multirole aircraft 5th generation. We have also made our own Kaveri aircraft engine which is currently not giving as much thrust as we want but it Development is going on. Soon the fighter aircraft made by our country will be on the aircraft carrier made by our country. 🇮🇳❤️😉👍
From what i know, Indian navy is about to order another 45000 tone AC again and the company said they can build it in 6 years this time, and after that they are planing to order the 65000 tons
Pretty sad that no mention of the Hms Hermes served in a war as flagship and, saw sea service of nearly 60 years. Also the keel was laid down in 1944 (WWll).
Glad u explain vikrant aircraft carrier in non boredom ot 12 minute, i appreciate u for that... Btw u missed one point DRDO has installed a stealth technology or the project Shakti System inside ins vikrant to make it less cross-section on enemy radar...
Anyone who understands microwave tech knows stealth doesn't work for large objects and that too traveling at such low speeds. Also, SONAR will easily detect it. Plus, aircraft carriers never travel alone. It's always part of a fleet of 10-20 smaller attack ships. So even if stealth really works for large sea objects, there's no point to it since the whole fleet cannot escape radar and sonar. Just because the government says something, it doesn't automatically become true. Critical thinkers can see propaganda a mile away.
@@flowzeta5412 I appreciate your points but we got this information from drdo Twitter reports bro... Plus drdo even makes unimaginable stuff to take over CCP agression towards india like they developed SMART (torpedo missile) , xrsam (2x powerful and greater range than s400 and himars) , world's deadliest lch ,etc etc... Thanks ruski friend, thanks. You didn't used that traditional Indian song which I don't know but why it has been imposed on us by these some western youtube military analyst jokers, even Millennium 7 channel used that, totally killed the mood. Yours seems like, yes, you devoted time and passion.
Its has to be understood that india is a democracy and it has a large water region to cover with the growing threat from Chinese Navy. Hence india needs to be having atleast 3 carriers in the ocean to counter any threats that harms freedom of navigation and rules based international order in the indian ocean. Also the fact that these are not shared by countries like US , France ,UK or even Russians to india. This caused much delay for india to develop their own indigenous carrier and battle group but now as they have delivered one class carrier they need to keep making more and bigger and nastier ships. Go India 🇮🇳 ❤
China doesn't need to be in check. They haven't been the ones waging wars in people's backyards. And the Indian and Chinese navy operates in completely different regions. If they did operate in the same region, India is outclassed and outmatched in literally every aspect. India literally took forever just to launch an obsolete carrier in 2020; how can they hope to take on the Chinese?
@@babiswaster7047 The Chinese Fujian has over twice the displacement capacity, is 80 metres longer, and has a CATOBAR system. In what universe is it obsolete? Meanwhile, the Vikrant is barely larger than a helicopter carrier, which makes forces any naval aircraft that takes off from it from carrying any kind of meaningful payload. This is why it's obsolete. This is a factual and objective analysis, unlike yours.
@@endeliggnist5066 everything chinese built are cheap and low quality product!! the whole world knows that, and even after copying and stealing western and russian technology, they managed and paper 80k carrier, which is even worse than a 40000 ton carrier!! So the only one whoz crying is u chinese bot who came to and indian carrier video to troll LMAO!!😅🤣😂😆
@@babiswaster7047 what exactly makes type 003 "obsolete" and what is "not-obsolete"? Indian navy will not have anything like type 003 for several years in the future. And by that time, chinese navy will have a true Ford-class equivalent: 100,000 ton, CATOBAR design with EM catapult, domestically designed and built 5th gen aircrafts, nuclear reactors, possibly directed energy weapons,...... And possibly several of them. Its not even a comparison.
Can someone in the chat please explain why Aircraft Carriers don't combine ski jump with catapult or EMALS? as from my understanding the ski jump allows more lift due to angle, down side being limitations with MTOW on takeoff. But using EMALS you could have a shorter launch on a ski jump? correct. I'm sure I am completely wrong in my assumptions as it would have been done if it was so beneficial. But would love to know why it wouldn't work. Thank you Horizon for such an amazing video, I am constantly impressed with India's development and how quickly they establish home grown manufacturing for highly complex systems.
By the way, interesting idea. I admit that it is simply too difficult to implement and the benefits will be modest. In addition, takeoff weight restrictions will remain, heavier aircraft cannot be launched
EMALS and Steam catapults are always better than ski-jumps as you want to maximise your MTOW for longer sorties & weapon loads, it also allows heavier aircraft to be launched such as AWACS which increase the carriers capability by orders of magnitude. Skijumps are used A: because the country uses them lacks the technology for EMALS (it's still fairly early-ish tech for China and USA) B: the ship class Vikrant originates from was a Russian "Aircraft carrying cruiser" with a heavy Anti Ship missile compliment that took up a a lot of space C: it's a hell of a lot cheaper.
I guess when aircraft reaches the ski jump with that much force of catapult the landing gear may get damaged, I'm not an expert so take it with a pinch of salt
Its really impossible to have a catapult going up a curve and would be difficult for the aircraft to detatch from the rail if it stopped just short of the ramp. It would also place an ENORMOUS amount of stress on the gear to be flung by a catapult and then squashed as it goes up a curved surface. Hope this answers your question.
IAC 2 will likely be the same as INS VIKRANT but will be modified for UAV operations & modernised and efficient than INS VIKRANT . After that only we can see a flat top carrier for Indian Navy . And we can see a faster delivery of IAC 2 than the vikrant . Rafale M has been chosen for the flight wing until TEDBF rolls out.
Thankyou... it may not be the best but its ours❣ so its the best for us indians... we are making another one... which will be bigger nd better... this was basically made to gain experience.. nd now that we have the proper techniques nd experience to make an aircraft carrier.. we are going to make the next one much bigger and better🙏😁
Honestly, comparing it to the Queen Elizabeth II, it's not far off! Give it 30 years, India will be equal to Britain in terms of naval capacity. It's a great ship, any country would be proud to have it!
You dont build a near $3 Billion ship to just "gain experience". It is a very capable weapons platform and will be potent for the next few decades in controlling IOR in conjuction with its CBG and according to Indian Navy's doctrine. You are right in it is not the best but is overkill for PN and more than a very good deterrent for any misadventures by PLAN. Also the soft power an aircraft carrier has is immense
Americans complain why India is not supporting Ukraine for Russian Invasion. But I have a question. Did America helped India to grow like they helped Japan? Did America helped India to grow like they helped Europe after WW2 Did America helped India to grow like they helped China? You didn’t helped us with Investments but want us to be in your side? Our Relationship can be world class in the next decade if USA helps India to grow now
The F/A - 18 and Rafale Ms are currently competing to win an order to serve on the INS Vikrant with both having undergone several tests so far and Rafale M seems to be in the lead
Any idea if india will be making our own ciws soon? I guess we are still using the Russian ones , not that anything is wrong with them . But would be great if india has its own on the way.
Great video, but you got the location of Cochin on the map wrong, it's a out halfway down the coastline of the state of Kerala, not near the Karnataka border as shown in the video
Well it's a first step towards indigenization, i mean it's the first step, the next is a 65,000 ton carrier, we already have our own indigenous nuclear submarines, I'm sure we'll be able to make nuclear powered 80,000+ ton carriers within next 60 years if possible
Depends on the strategic requirements and goals of the Navy. Nuclear powered ships tend to be very expensive to build and maintain. And they are really meant for long range operations away from home ports. So if that isn't something that is needed then it is unlikely to be considered. The next gen 65,000 tonne carrier is likely to be more than enough. Three carriers total is the current want but I could see the new carrier being built in more than numbers. With the two 45,000 tonne and maybe 2-3 65,000 tonne being a strong enough fleet to stop anyone from trying to pick a fight.
I think that is an excessive amount of ships. At most, there would be 4 carriers, but with the already limited budget of the Indian Navy, it would take time to implement. A single large carrier which is complemented by two more normal-sized ones like the Vikrant is the most sound strategy in my opinion.
@@adventwolfbane the no of carriers doesn't matter, the carrier groups is what matters and a 45k tone or a 60-65k ton is not enough as compared to a 80k+ ton carrier which can launch more ships simultaneously and can also defend itself and also be used for offensive strikes at the same time
Barak-8 is developed jointly by India & Israel. Even a simple Google Search can answer this thing. I really don't know how Western RU-vids get their info for such videos!!!
6:30 not Israeli missiles, Barak 8 were developed from ground up, according to the necessary needs for both Israeli and Indian navies. It is a joint venture between IAI and DRDO.
I thought apart from the hull its mostly foreign systems? with Russian and Italian input and the engine is American? But no matter what, only a handful of countries can build and operate these ships.
@@vijaymoudgalya9915 so who is smart? It doesn’t matter whether china build a copy or not. What is matter is to have the weapons as quick as possible to confront and push back the enemy.
@@Red.bulldozer3 Chinese carriers aren't defensive weapons. Carriers in general are offensive weapons. Chinese carriers suffer in that role as well. All their russian clones rarely if ever leave port for reasons one can only imagine (*cough cough*copying a russian design that is famously unreliable*cough cough*) and the one carrier that they did design and build on their own took them 20 years as well. Even then, while it looks good on paper, the fujian can't even recover it's planes without ripping it's own flight deck off, if it ever gets the arrestor wires in the first place.
@@vijaymoudgalya9915 the indians have been operating aircraft carriers from 1960s but till now have only 2. But the chinese bought the empty hull of a abandoned aircraft carrier from ukraine in early 2000 and refiiited with new engines and weapons systems. Since it is their first air craft carrier, it took 20 years to build. But now they have mastered the art of building an aircraft carrier and now operating 2 aircraft carriers.
