Insane Abandoned Victorian Mansion

In this explore, we take a look at an abandoned Victorian manor house. The country house was built in the Victorian era for Daniel Higford Davall Burr with incorporations from a Stuart house.
The estate became dominated by its neo-Elizabethan mansion after a fire of 1843 destroyed one third of the predecessor and various landscape features were added which have resulted in building and grounds being Grade Two listed. Between the turn of the 21st century and its closure in 2012, the estate has been a wedding venue, a conference center, and also a hotel. Aside from the manor house and its immediate surroundings, the park is home to office buildings and a lake. Join us as we explore the grounds! Military police patrol this area so would not recommend visiting!

WOW...!! What a beautiful building...I love this style, they always look a lot older than Victorian...My youngest son went to a Catholic boarding school, St. Edwards, in Sherfield English, about 5 miles from Romsey, Hampshire. I was amazed when I went to see it, it's massive. A gorgeous building that looks to be around 1600s ish but was built around the turn of the 20th century...I wanted to move in...lol. Great explore guys as always..x👏😁😎

Hi my brother got married at Aldermaston manor! And his now father in law used to be the caretaker and was for I think about forty years. It was a fully functioning hotel in its own right and the more modern building “Portland house” owned and run by blue circle it was their head office. The other buildings across from the tennis courts were I believe part of AWE the weapons research establishment that backs on to the manor. The hotel was sold to an Italian owner but this was then sold on again as the roof of the property needed well over a million pounds of work doing on it to restore it and make it safe. Blue circle pulled out of the building I think before the Italian owner bought it. The MOD police used to patrol the estate as it backs on to AWE but they can’t drive around as the trees have been neglected and a lot of them have fallen across the road which they used to use. Every tree is numbered and cataloged this was done when the estate was first built and includes some rare trees. When the estate was first sold to the Italian owner the caretaker went into the roof space to see what the damage was like and he found photographs of what is now AWE during the war when it was used as an airfield! He found one particular photo which showed troop gliders parked up either side of the runway and Eisenhower in the back of a jeep driving down the runway between them. Even the lake has a history I’ve actually seen a diary of all the fish that were stocked into it and there used to be a fishing club at the manor and they used to have fishing😊 matches and every matches and fish caught was cataloged. It breaks my heart to see such a lovely building like this go to rack and ruin as I myself have great memories of the place and the frightening thing is how quickly nature reclaims everything.

Such a beautiful looking building. Ornate chimneys 😀 other building is awful compared to the manor, no wonder the locals don’t like it. Quite a big plot of land. Lucky local dog walkers 😀

Una mansion muy bonita pero la lastima ha sido como estaba el cielo lleno de chemtrail. A very nice mansion but the pity was how the sky was full of chemtrail.

Thanks. It was early morning so there tends to be more airplane activity around then. / Gracias. Era temprano en la mañana, por lo que suele haber más actividad de aviones en ese momento.

What a beautiful building.Look at what they built then compared to what they build today., Soulless,boring,depressing,all for a reason.They want to knock all these old places down to erase history,sad
@ExploringWithin
@ExploringWithin Год назад
Definitely! They don’t build them like they used to. It seems this country has gone a bit woke in general and wants to erase our history unfortunately.

@@ExploringWithin Suppose It doesn’t hurt to be wary when quite often the military patrol here, Ive never had no trouble, guards are all quite friendly.

Why are military police guarding a private abandoned building?
@ExploringWithin
@ExploringWithin 2 года назад
Because there is a military installation next door, and they patrol the grounds the building sits on
@politicallyincorrectmyballs
Im working here right now...we are filming...amazing place....and sad to see all this beauty that in thr pass meaned a lot to someone its going down forgotten...
