Spoilers: - - - - - I think it takes a real chad to review your own defeat, and share it. I thought based on how you were talking, you were going to win, but wasn't the case, and you explained why. Good to have you back, and I hope you do win a tournament one day!
I’m so glad you’re back man. We’ve missed you. This match, oof, brutal turns. Talose is like VoA-level positioning, it’s pretty insane, gets like really great positioning and then gets a great attack with no possible counterplay for the opponent. Great game and congrats on the crazy tourney run!
I felt I was insane that we never got to see the finals (since I'm not a member of the community I have no updates until Deej posts a replay), I legit thought I missed it or worse, that the game wasn't interesting enough so Deej wouldn't cover it. Extremely hype to watch it I've been waiting for this one! Edit post watch : Damn I hoped you'd get that win you worked so hard towards, but gratz to Talose, the middle shift really brought your doom. You'll get em next time Deej, a baboon isn't down from just a blow.
I was really happy to see this video. The tournament series has been great. Also, I love the idea of Sasha as a CO, but I'm so bad at playing her. It's so useful to see how some of the best players utilize her day to day effectively.
The moment you said you decided to shift your strong side by relying on building units with the middle bases during midgame, when i remembered you were proud that Talose fell to the trap of thinking the middle bases were the strong side, i mentally said "ohh nnnooooo" lmao. Also sad yet interesting that you did a good pincer in the beginning but Talose did it better later: your theory of airport-strong side was quickly shut down by Talose just placing three Anti-air to lock down any air units from ever reaching the other side, while he exploit that fact to play defensively until all your units is over-comitting on attack and cannot effectively defend themselves when the counter pincer happens. Overall, REALLY sad that your journey in this tournament ends here, but GG nonetheless.
It will be interesting seeing replays from the Amarriner Cup, I liked the first two maps. It’s also the first tournament where I haven’t died in the first round!
So good to have you back Deej. Hope you are feeling fine. This tournament was one hell of a journey. The elcaroman comeback, the apc preparation, that rimer standoff and ultimately the finals. Some of the craziest matches I've ever seen. You played really well. Good job on making it this far. Getting #2 is no joke. We live and we learn. Looking forward to what you've got in store for us 😊 Also can we take a moment to appreciate that baboon at 4:34
'T was a beautiful game beautifully narrated in beautiful words. Thank you for all this beautiful. Here's hoping for a rematch here in this beautiful channel between you beautiful two.
I believed in your victory until last turn, when I looked at the stats and saw the unit count deficit Anyway, I hope you're doing well man, it's nice to see you around again !
FWIW, I think the biggest problem in this match is that the whole concept of pincer strikes doesn't really apply to Advance Wars. In your own terminology, a pincer strike is an example of dabbling. Two small forces that can't cover each other. Meanwhile the person 'caught' in the pincer can just stabble in one direction, defeating one half of the dabbling forces.
This was painful to watch. You had some good opportunity earlier. Pretty much the first player to Market Crash was going to steamroll the other. He played well, but you helped defeat yourself. Regardless, good analysis and thanks for sharing.
Spoiler . . . . . . . . . . . You were right. Confident deej never wins. 😭 you need to tell yourself you are always gonna lose so then you have a chance. *big tiger hugs* next time, next time...
