Fighting Eagle stresses me out so bad. He just doesn't die! When you think he's dead, all of a sudden you're dead! Fighting Sami stresses me out so bad. She just swarms you! You finally get a property advantage, and all of a sudden you're in the weeds again! Game is just stressful. Thanks for the content, Deej.
Absurdly nutty game, nut-tacular if you will. Both players made some great moves and some dumb ones. Konton basically squandered a Victory March, and shot another in the foot when it was ripe to activate, yet he still pulled through time and again from solid unit tactics. Seraphesque was much better with his powers but made unit blunder after unit blunder, and when konton denied him his third Lightning Strike of the match, it was over. Piperunner of concession: *deployed*.
I don't believe your story about Eagle taking Sami on a Carnival Cruise. Eagle doesn't exactly have good compatibility with cruisers so it doesn't seem like the kind of thing he would choose for a date.
The only problem being equal unit value circa 38m, is that Eagle has like 40% of his unit value in a fighter that doesn't have any more targets, and Sami is 100% ground.
One of the best maps imo. Always an interesting match cos it's so dynamic. Not sure if konton could have won by caps during the victory march (opted for 2 infantry first strikes instead of capping), but was a great game regardless. Also, not sure if he could have fed the copter into the fighter for charge for a second victory march, but the ending was better for it either way.
This was certified Scrat the squirrel trying to get his acorn nutty. There were blunders on both sides but I still don't get what that fighter was doing at the end of the match. Maybe it was just trying to avoid giving Konton additional power charge? Idk. Either way Sami was putting Eagle in a blender and those lightning strikes felt like they were the only thing keeping them in the game.
Another safer way to get victory march would have been to attack the MD with the AA from the shoal and not the forest. But this game was insane, tier 2 match ups are generally the best imo edit: also sami infantry with vm and no tower does not kill a 2hp recon on a hq(even with luck no chance) but its very close, 1 tower or recon on city is guaranteed kill, so he did indeed need the tank to finish the recon
Deej you are so polite and civil 95% of the time, and then you randomly compare an out of position fighter to the missing Malaysia airlines passenger flight lmao XD
Fun fact, double checked capture limit on this map. It’s 28 properties. Correct me if I’m wrong but if Konton on his victory march had just captured those 2 properties instead of attacking he would have hit 28 properties after he captured seraphesque’s base. Woulda been gg yeah?
there's a lot of different settings for the map, and in their game they used 29 capture limit, it definitely wasn't possible to capture a 29th property (and no lab doesn't count for that specifically)
Also, turn before the deletion, just park the artillery one space to the right. Now, only one tank can reach the Hq capping unit, securing the win. But, live game.
Random question, but what level do you have to be to be considered a "Grandmaster" in AWBW? 1600? Less, or more? Just curious :) Love ur vids Deejus and thanks for breaking the games down in such detail. Never payed AWBW but i've been playing Advance Wars since I was a kid and am curious about starting. Also will you and Mangs ever do another Grandmasters tournament stream? I luv those
There is no real number, since plenty of players dont play that many rated games and game modes, like fog and high funds can skew numbers. and thank you, I encourage you to jump in! Stay tuned a GM stream may happen
I played this same matchup in the amarriner cup final of my bracket. I was the Sami going against Eagle. The Eagle player was a ton better than me and his positioning was just immaculate. But while he was winning just about every engagement, I was managing to cap properties. I got my VM right before he got his LS, and I capped like 7 properties and won via cap
Great game! a bit infuriating tho because of... Spoilers Ahead: I reaaaaaaallllyyyyy dislike when an extremely overpowered CO power or super power make a bad player win or almost win. I'm so glad Konton didn't give up when the second lightning strike happened. Seraphinic made so many mistakes one after the other in regards to positioning and capture, I know Sami has a huge advantage during capture phase, but it doesn't matter when there are no fights... Also very bad defenses by both players, but I'd say Konton did slightly better. I think that's what both should work on, just defending their units and not letting them die for no purpose.
