@@DeejusProductions He was kinda my entry opponent into midtier standard league a year ago when I was a rookie. Taught me about the concept of unit count. Will never forget the lill' Battleship series I had against him^^
I would like to join the battleship fan club, but that’s more from campaign/war room where naval combat is a thing. Not that hard for Grit to just fill the sea with them and zone out the entire sea, not to mention any welcome for units shipped by lander.
I actually like the idea of there not being obvious capture chains right from the start. Makes it more likely that even on the first turn the players will be doing different things to each other.

Bad-tleships can't move onto shoals even if they want to :) Sorry for the nitpick. Interesting game, thanks for the commentary! This is a cool map. Sadly none of my games here have been too interesting... in one my opponent picked Kindle in T2 vs. my Olaf, which went about how you'd expect.
@@DeejusProductions Not exactly the most important unit to know all about haha. Keep up the great work, been watching since Terrorize with Transport (though I took a long break from the game)
That match was so much fun to watch, I was on the edge of my seat, and when I saw the battleship I damm near did a spit take. Two great players putting on a amazing display of skill, love these videos they always make my day.
I think I've only had a single match in this map, it was kind of a low level lash mirror that came down to a nailbitter desperate defense of my hq against the threat of a cap with prime tactics. Fond memories.
@@haissake I think you might be correct, few roads, lots of important mountains and forests, Lash can get a lot of use of her day to day. Most contested properties are adjacent to some sort of heavy terrain so Lash can be pretty nasty interrupting captures.
By far the map I hate most. Never been able to get a single game on this map. I'm rewatching this before a practice match so I can learn something from this. I've been a bit too stuck lately with lots of loses so... time to relax a bit and learn again. Thanks again for all your hard work :)
What a hype game! Yeah, the game that launched a thousand recons here was by lvjd (who else). Nobody has solved the counter yet, so SAMI RECON SPAM META BABY. Sami mirror recons ain't a meme though, because they solve a major problem with the Sami mirror where your infantry are super fragile to 1st strikes and so it's hard to play a normal Sami opening. Add in a few recons and it suddenly feels more like a Sami vs. Olaf opening. Try it at home, try it on Caustic Finale!
When you say it doesn't really matter if you go for forward or back properties first when there's no chains... Doesn't it just mean that forward ones are more susceptible to being punished if someone responds with early recon or something? Like it won't matter if the opponent doesn't try to interrupt it, I guess
wait.... how is he playing advance wars on PC, i need this in my life. (because Nintendo are blue balling me with their empty excuses for not releasing Advance wars reboot camp.)
Building the battleship in range of the artillery when pressing the opponent's HQ is surely to bait the opponent into charging up your Victory March? Possibly too much credit for what may actually have just been meme style points, but it feels like a planned move to HQ cap within the next 3-4 days. Edit: it keeps all the forward momentum on the strong side, whereas Starflash buying big units would have taken too long to reinforce and Randomways was gradually beating back the attack, so the HQ cap window was closing. Leaning more and more towards the battleship being a planned route to HQ cap quickly.
I don't even think this is a spoiler... We all knew a hq cap was happening here seeing sami vs sami, but it was some great planning and wallbreaking at the end. I think the grand strategy behind a lot of these decisions leading up to the hq cap was all about the power meter. The forward battleship was either going to cause a lot of damage to allow for a hq cap or create a lot of charge to allow for the hq cap. I was expecting way more battle copters in this match though.
