Nearly. In the Greek tradition, Hypnos (Sleep) was the BROTHER of Thanatos (Death), and the son of Nyx (Night). So related yes, but brothers not cousins. (I only knew that because I’ve been looking into Nas’ bar and found that history info in trying to see if he’d coined the term “sleep is the cousin of death” or if he was referencing some earlier literature. As far as I could find he started it.
The lyrics? The flow? The delivery? The performance? All out of this World! As always! But... All the added audio in the Ren remix! Especially the guitar! Just fantastic! :)
Another amazing performance by Ren whose knowledge of hip hop is 💯 % dialed up! Lots of clever schemes and a shout-out to hockey and basketball references that Canadians salute! Not to forget he's rapping in the streets of Calgary, Alberta! Kudos to you for all the Hip Hop knowledge you have and how you educate the fam! 🎉🎉🎉❤
So glad you did this one today. You're always great at breaking down his shit. This one is so layered Doubles and triples everywhere. He references 9 of his own tracks in here. (Supersize my fries - Uninvited, lol). It's impossible on 1st listen. But come on, you get so many. Amazing as always.
😂🤣 I caught that super sized fries too while listening I just didn't say it 😅 I always second guess my thoughts 😂🤣 dang it I knew I should have said something.. But so glad you appreciated the breakdown you are awesome
Great reaction. I love that phrase 'give 'em their flowers' It's not something I'd heard here in the U.K but many US reactors are using it when sharing their thoughts on this track by Ren. It's just a very positive image of giving someone you appreciation. Nice!
Love your reaction guys! Word of advice... turn OFF the subtitles, because youtube NEVER gets them right with Ren's songs. Ren always puts the lyrics to his song in the description or comments.😘
i love your pauses u got no issuies from me, i came here to see you guys reaction , i didnt come here to watch you do a reaction on how i wanted it to be! so hugs all around
For you, I accept the slap. LOL. You both haven't idea how much I enjoy your reactions. I understand English and dare to write it. Still, I wouldn't speak it, even if someone paid me (that would be abuse) but you guys speak it with the accent with which we Cubans speak Spanish; Even the mannerisms and sense of humor ('la salsa', the sauce, we call it) are similar. I hope you continue to grow and maintain the same energy. Greetings and lots of Aché from the Caribbean.
Dammmnnn I didn’t even catch that Big Mac line to back in the day with Big and Craig Mack!!! I just thought he was saying rip to the greats like Biggie then “new”Mac Miller then back to old 2 pac then recent again lil peep. Nice catch!!
Great reaction both of you! I was blown away by this, just mindblown. I loved that he shouted out the goats, and loved this era as much as you. I am old enough where I remember this era in the clubs, and I'm sorry only a handful of artists compete with that time in hip-hop, and Ren is one of them 🖤
Nice reaction as per usual. Ren is always on point! I would love to see Ren link up with Coast Contra - just think of the flows and schemes they would come drop!
Just an extra bit on the pie/pi pirate bar First, it was released on 3/14 - pi day. Second, he says “like rats to the music…” - a reference to the Pied Piper of Hamlin who attracted the rats from a city by playing music - so that’s another pi/pie/pied connection (which I’m yet to see any reactor pick up - but I’ve had the benefit of listening to it a load of times). :)
Really? Doesn't it feel a bit disrespectful to give such a generic shout out of "legends"? Especially after using a Big L line right before? The "nefarious gaze" bars were probably the best next to the Fission line. But everything else sounded like he was rhyming words just to rhyme as opposed to communicating something that he made rhyme. It just sounded uninspired to me. Hearing Detroit rapper Elzhi do an Illmatic tribute album showed me how a tribute song could be done in a way that shows passion, respect, and adoration for the original. Maybe the bar is too high for me but this was underwhelming
