Hey, everyone hopes you enjoy the video and some C7 Corvette UPDATE. If you wish to contact me or purchase a Key Tag please do at www.CGarnerSpeed252.com
Hi Clarence! OWG (Old White Guy) here again. Man, I love your vids, you tell it EXACTLY like it is is...undiluted. I see lots of haters diss’n you for how you talk, but just ignore them as the gentleman I know you are. That’s just YOU, Buddy, your personality. Don’t change anything and stay who you are. On the tires, one thing I learned long ago is factory tire mfg’s inflation pressures are GROSSLY misguided. They tell us to keep tires at a certain psi PURPOSELY to cause greater tire tread wear. A factory rep told me years ago if I want to get the actual tire life (30-40,000, etc) outta my tires, over inflate them by about 10-20% of factory rec’s. That has worked for me for DECADES now. Plus the non-track alignment of course. Again, really love your content. Pls keep doing what you do. Sincerely,
I have been telling you for the longest! It's All about the Alignment!! You have to get them to as close to Zero as possible. From the factory they are set up for the track. Setting them to close to Zero will get you Even Wear!! Get an Alignment Sir!! General Lee Out!
@@cgarnerspeed252 im considering buying a vette in the next 2-3 year's. My plan is to pay off my car that im currently in, i would like. The vette that you have how often do you drive your's? And how much is a set of tire's for your vette?
Your videos are great, extremely informative. Just wanna bust on ya a little, live how you always say Corvette every time you say either, c6, ,c7, c,8. Don't have to say Corvette every time man, we know it's a Corvette.. lol...other than that keep doing what you do you give a completely different perspective on the cars you talk about...keep the miles comming man..thank you and God bless you and your family, keep safe
It has been known for several years the tires on C7 Z06 & GrandSport start showing chord early. They are set up for the track 1.2G. Many of us have had our cars dropped down to the Stingray alignment spec to get better tire wear. Even on the Tail of the Dragon I only pulled a .95G with traction control management flashing on the PDR recording. It is your money and that caster adjustment is important.
My first Porsche came with Continental tires from the factory and they were good handling tires. The track alignment is eating your tires on the street but I bet it is pulling more than a G in the corners!
Wow that different. If you tracked the car the outside would where out. Looks like you need an all wheel alignment. Nice to give your C7 some attention.
Clarence happy to see the C7 back again. I've only been following for about a year and grew up on your C7. The content on the C8 is good but i feel like i broke up with a girlfriend, something's been missing lol!! Love the new kicks on the car...
You actually can fix it. You need to have them align it like a C7 stingray. I did this on my almost 800hp grand sport and I've never had tire wear issues. The Grand sport and zo6 have negative camber for the track. Change that and you wont have the issues. I don't track my care so there's no need to have it alignment like that.
Hey Clarence:: great C7 video! As so many posters say, get that camber to zero and your tires will give you 30k. What about those wheels? And scissor doors! Awesome! More C7 content please. A true supercar!
Your C7 is looking fine! I have 42,000 miles on my C5Z and I’m on my 3rd set of tires. My current tires are Bridgestone Potenza and I like them the best so far.
Hey Clarence glad to see you do some more c7 video. Please get a four wheel alignment. Have tech to zero your alignment do wheels will wear evenly. The come from the factory toed in for track use. I’ve already changed mine out a few weeks ago for the same thing.
Check your alignment, if it is within the factory marks. Have them check droop or ride height which requires the car on the alignment machine, use body weight to pull down the car and see if positive camber is above 10 the car weight droop. There is a guy that has a rear height correction if you are interested. But that is only if you exceed to much droop under factory settings.
Your C7 is a beauty as well. Also, your taste in selecting the color and the interior color is really awesome. You have great taste. You create a good example of C8 ownership and enthusiasm with a great element of common sense thrown into the package. That's why your content is so positive at these time where it looks like we may have flattened the curve a a nation on the C-19. By the way, Clarence, here's an easy riddle for you: Why did the Engineers choose 8 Speeds for the mid-engine Corvette with their Dual Clutch Transmission, instead of 7, 9, or 10 speeds? The answer, (drum roll, please...................C8! (Yes, Alex and clarence, 8 Speeds for the C8. -- AF
Inside wear, camber adjustment. Factory settings won’t cut it. I get mine adjusted at McClaren - just do to the machine on hand. Contis are softer ride, but the runflat benefit is 4 me - got them for same price as Contis.
Wow! You did have the angles hooked up. Can they do a "corner balance" by shifting weight with the alignment so that the weight on each wheel is fairly even on all four wheel/tires combination? Thanks. There's a huge learning curve on your favorite cars. Once the car becomes part of you, etc., then it becomes more comfortable to you personally...at that point it becomes part of your signature. AF
Hey Clarence, yeah from factory the tires are set for negative camber. I had heard about this when I got my c7 and decided to have that zeroed out as I don't plan on tracking mine.
Hi Clarence, I had the same tire tread wear as you did. There was a guy who had a blog a year or two ago. He had a blow out. What he found was the camber on the Z06 and Grand Sport have to in camber on l 4 corners increases track performance, but wear out the tires. Since I don't track it anymore, I replaced the tires with Michelin All season tires. I also had the camber set close to zero. Tires are expensive. Plus I wanted to be able drive on nice days in the winter. By the way. When are you going to put full wing doors on the C8? That would look nice. Congrats on neatly 30 K miles. Have a good day. Stay safe and enjoy the road.
We buy these cars to have fun, not cause they're economical. I have a GS and I'll pay the money to swap out tires a little more frequently in exchange for the driving experience. When I pull out of a sweeping turn at 100+, it reminds me why I bought the car to begin with.
Two items: What, Clarence, is your opinion on the scissors Doors for the C8? I think the beginning of this content showed a photo of a C7 with scissors doors? I think with parallel parking it is quite likely that the long doors will be difficult to exit through the stock position. Seems cool that one can just swap out hing hardware to obtain this access. The question is, how is the scissor doors with regard to being practical for getting in and out, versus the standard GM build of the car? 2nd Question: What do you think of Kooks headers for the C8? Is better than 20 horsepower a realistic gain? I sent Kooks a question regarding their headers and the adaptor clamps to obtain some clarifications and after more than several days, there's been no response from Kooks. AF
I know someone probably has covered it, but the Z06 and appears your GS has a track set-up with the camber of I believe 2 degs... The dealer can zero it for the street. But 26K is pretty good for the wide-bodies.
I did already subscribe and I always give a thumbs up. I see your C8, right now and just heard the shout out. Like you, by the way, I have a high wing spoiler. Unlike you, although I paid for it as the build reflects, when I asked the dealer for my Z51 spoiler and was told that I don't get it. I saw that Corvette Mike got his regular wheels, when the Tridents were optioned as the wheels come with the car. I asked for those too. I was told that I don't get those either. Then the window sticker shows that the carbon flash painted sill accents and front are an extra that i paid for extra according to the sticker. Then, it turned out that the dealership had one set of carbon fiber ground effects, so I ordered that, since it is so rare and had them install the visible actual carbon fiber ground effects kit. The upshot is that the dealer did give me that back. Two upgrades, one over the other. Not the smartest choice, but then to get a hold of the hard to get ground effects kit at the dealer and have them dealer installed before I left the dealer parking lot and before I took delivery. Congrats on the new tires. Yes, I compliment you for having the courage to obtain the Continental Extreme Sport Constacts. Alex
It looks like you have too much negative camber. Some brands have negative camber set that way for maximum grip in the corners. I drive a Mini and I burn up the inside of the tires for that very reason.
That alinement computer show +/- from factory specs but like I said, some are set to tilt in (negative camber) as the normal setting. I have a 2017 mini with 67k miles and I just had to put on my 3rd set of tires due to the inside tread wear. Good luck with the new tires.
It the castor that the wheels are set at for handling and taking turns. U got 26k out of them. Thats dam good. Usually its less then 13k. So part of owning a super car
Brah, how about, sale the C7 and get the last naturally aspirated ferrari 458 2011 to 2013. Then you could do comparison videos... between it and the C8. That would be lit.
@@cgarnerspeed252 from 2010 to 2013 for the coup, 128k to 198k depending on color, miles, condition. Many are over priced and sure to drop in price even further in the coming weeks. I think that could spice up your channel. I think its can be done with the sell of your C7 and the help of your subs. I've been studying different channels. Many start out with one car then branch off to others. You could get a ferrari 458 for the channel. That would be so fun to watch you do comparisons.
Change the alignment specs to save the tires man, of course factory specs are not going to say any different. Just set the camber to Stingray specs and tire will be fine. All your going to loose is a little speed on the track.
Your C7 is awesome ! I’d love to buy yours from you as it is and maybe start a Channel with it! I know I’m young but I think I could pull it off and I work hard and save great! Would be a great opportunity! Thanks for the awesome video again by the way your a inspiration
💥💥It's because the stock camber is set aggressively for going through turns on grand sport and z06. Every Zo6 and GS will have the same wear pattern. You can actually just have them adjust it but you'll lose cornering confidence... but with zero degree camber... it'll handle like 💩🤓💥💥
Dude, you have to go a shop that will do the align correctly.. all he did was verify what the factory sent out the door with caster way off.. I hate seeing a tech give bogus info.. obviously your camber is off as well..
Clarence, like your c7, but find a alignment shop that knows how to align a car to get rid of that inside wear . Its not rocket science. If you stay with this alignment you will be replacing your tires every 11 months or less.
They could have zero’d it out so that they were perfectly in line yeah theirs a range but man those tires cost to much just to have them in spec but not exactly zero’d out.
