Those 50c sterling proof coins are the last four of a 24 coins series, which started in 1995. The Queen is not involved in the design of Canadian coins, but rather is a symbol of our parliamentary tradition.

those chinese cash coins fascinate me - a few years ago I bought some crusty chinese coins for $2.40 a piece in this tiny antiques store in maine, and 1 ended up being from the 10th century, and 2 others from the 11th. the oldest coins I have by over 700 years, which is amazing. the 10th century one I'm still not 100% sure if it's worth anything.

@@Silverpicker the oldest one is "1 cash zhidao grass script" and was made from 995 - 997. A lot of the cash coins even though they're so old, are not worth more than a few bucks since there were just so many of them made, so I would guess this one also falls into that value range.

Really enjoy your enthusiasm and knowledge for coins. I am looking more closely at the coins I come in contact with. Started CRH and found a 1980 proof JFK half and a 2014 proof Sacagewea with wolf, turtle and Turkey on reverse. Beautiful mirror finish.

This is one of the best grab bag videos I've ever seen! As a matter of fact, right after this came out, my grandpa purchased a Canada Birds of Prey set just like what you got! And, since you asked what their normal names are, I listed them below: Buteo jamaciensis - Red-tailed Hawk Pandion haliaetus - Osprey Bubo virginianus - Great Horned Owl Haliaeetus leucocephalus - Bald Eagle Love your videos, Max. The Ta Ching copper coin is actually from the Imperial Chinese times, aka before 1911. Collectible and not expensive, I love them. Chinese copper coins are much affordable when compared to the silver ones.

The one gold foil version of a bill that I'm a fan of is the 100 trillion zimbabwe notes. The real ones were actually kind of rare, and they sell for $80+ these days despite having a face value equivalent to less than a dollar lol. The gold foil versions are like $2 and are a fun thing for any grab bag/gift.

Yes you are partially correct. The Monarchy must approve any sanctioned use of the Queens image. Most of the time it means the Royal house has to approve but for most coinage the Queen does give her blessing or deny.

Again a nice video 30:08 Pirate treasure.. not realy .. the time is right, but pirates mosly used the bigger coins "pieces of eight" no small coins. The little coins were for the normal people, the heavy one were the business men and criminals. That is why many eastern carribian islands the coin were cutted shaped like pie wedges.

Not a fan of excluding content promoted on one platform, to be moved to another platform as a hook to join there as well. I agree content creators should diversify their content across platforms, but splitting parts of a video up to promote your other channels on different platforms kinda stinks.
