Great vlog. The fold with QQ is fine. It's so rare that an opponent shows up with a bluff in that spot that, even one one does, it is still a spot you can't overfold (unless you are against an absolute crusher).

@@edwardkain5006 you can flat queens a certain percentage of the time. That river is a 100% call live, tough call online. People tend to overplay AK live, so it’s more like you lose to 6 AA, 6 KK, 3 JJ, and beat 12 AJ and another 50-70% of the AK that plays that way, which is another 6-8 combos, plus random sprinkled bluffs. The way you rationalize the slow play call with QQ is if they had AA or KK and you had 4b, the money would have went in anyways, you just got to see a good runout with his bluffs still in the hand. I actually really liked your play in this video. I feel like some of your analysis after is a little off though, especially on that queens into ace 5 hand. I think you made a perfect hold there considering the table dynamics and how well your opponent played the bluff. The range you set him up on (which made complete sense) made folding your hand profitable in the long run. Would've liked to see a raise with the queens preflop to avoid letting some of those hands get in but occasionally checking for balance is completely understandable. Felt like you made a lot more laydowns in this session that you normally wouldn't and it seems like it worked out very well for you. This was pretty disciplined for how you normally play and I was really happy to see it. Great video.
@billcain7821
@billcain7821 2 года назад
Now that is an OUTSTANDING RUN GOOD!!! Those Q's even though are/could be a tough call make really should've been an easy one to make. What made it so hard is the longer you think on it the easier it is to talk yourself out of making the call which is exactly what you did there. Remember how the ole saying goes: think long, think wrong. You also seemed (key word here is SEEMED) to do a no, no because you were so far up in chips, remember don't be counting those chips while you're still at the table playing, they're just chips and nothing more, they don't turn into any kind of profits or losses until you leave the table. Here are my theories: Plan for the worst and hope for the best i.e., never play more than what you can afford to lose. Go in knowing you're going to win, a winning attitude is more important than you will know to be successful, well that and some lady luck on your side. Don't let other players at the table luck and attitudes get to you, just keep a clam cool head about you and don't allow yourself to go on tilt. Remember you're going to have your good nights and your bad ones, enjoy the good ones while you can and ride that horse till it bucks you off and when it does get back up on him and ride it again. Don't let the bad nights get to you but use them as a learning experience. One last point a good attitude to go with that winning one will take you a long way in this game, agreed? You have a good, safe and blessed day out there today and good luck at those tables!!!

I like your logic, before he gave us his thoughts on why it made sense to fold I was calling. He was building the pot, building the pot, building the pot until the pot got too big. Easy for me to say now but in my opinion that river bet was too big to be a value bet that was a bet made to make your opponent fold, in other words a bluff. Losing to AA or KK in that position which is essentially what he was repping is ok. If the guy had JJ he wouldnt have been half as aggressive. Im still learning how to play but im slowly getting it.

QQ in the button is a easy raise preflop to avoid the exact situation. The thing is by 3 betting the preflop you take the lead or you can fold then and there if he reraise you further. It is super hard to call 6K there basically all your winnings for the session. But if you have raised pre, the hand would have played out differently.

Also, if your thinking about "locking up profit" on that QQ hand, than you aren't correctly making decisions. There's no counting the $$ til the dealings done, this is a decision based game and $$ shouldn't be a factor in your decision making process, if it does become a focal point...cash out. Nice session! Obviously gonna comment about the QQ hand like everyone else lol his 3 bet, is definitely protection based, seeing as he’s out of position, a 4bet from you prolly gets a fold, more likely a call from him since after seeing that hand he was committed regardless. Anyhow, flip comes. His KK dominate and so do his AA. So a call and float is fine. (Assuming he has those hands.) now, 66s, could definitely play that hand EXACTLY how he played it. Turn improves him to ours and is basically a brick to you. Him betting, doesn’t really change much, except a raise on turn puts him in a spot I guess. Also, sees where you’re at in the hand. River comes. He bet again obviously, and now it’s like, ok. Aggressive throughout the entire hand? KK, AAs all seem accurate reads here, JJs as well. Throw in those 66s, because he 3bet pre flop. Not including, every set he hit on flop, turn, river. All VIABLE hands he could have. You block nothing but a diamond, which doesn’t make sense because A or K of diamonds has you. Over bets river there.. so it smells like trips.. 85% of the time. Granted, how many 66s does he really have? It’s honestly a tough spot. Myself, probably would have called. But then again, I don’t have a 15-20k stack in front of me to piss away 🤣🤣 weird hand, awesome session bud!

On the QQ hand, "There are more combos that I lose to than I actually beat" => I think this is incorrect. Loses to AA (6 combos), KK (6), JJ (3)... A total of 15 combos that beats him. Wins against AK (16 combos) and A5s (3 combos)... A total of 19 combos that he beats, based on his assessment of what his opponent might have. Ethan, great seeing you in Cherokee this past week. The Queens are probably a snap call til you overthink it. Your logic when thinking about the hand makes complete sense tho. If I don't go with instinct and snap call I'm for sure talking myself into the fold. Making a big losing call when running good and winning a lot is so deflating also. You call and lose, then all you think about is how you just screwed up a great session. Granted making the wrong fold also sucks, but its better than making the wrong call.

On the QQ hand, his 3! range should be polarized if he's a good player ( Premiums + Suited Aces ). He should only continue firing on the turn with his nutted hand + decent equity semi bluffs ( AA, KK, JJ, A2s, Ad4d, Ad5d). I don't think he barrel off with AKo ( let me know what you guys think) . On the river you're getting 6:10 odd so you need 37.5% equity to break even. You lose to 12 combos of AA and KK, 3 combos of JJ, 4 combos of A2s ( 19 total ). He only has 3 bluff combos that you beat Ad4d, AdKd, Ad5d. So it's a fold (3:19). But again it depends on whether you think he would barrel off AKo

Never regret your decisions. There were too many cards resulting in a loss. I sometimes go into the woulda coulda shoulda and then it affects future thinking. Stay firm, stay clear. When it is over, forget about it. Remember our casinos never close. There is always another game somewhere. Happy you came out on the plus side!

QQ is top of your range basically other than JJ or maybe 55 so probably should have called, but exploitatively overbets are usually not bluffs

Nice run brother! After watching that downswing I’m glad to see you’re crushing it and on that upswing 📈Best of luck from 1 grinder to another. Especially from Boston! We will have to catch up during the WSOP. ✌️

Shows that an opponent with lots of $ and no fear is a tough opponent. Folding the QQ was my play while watching.

What im trying to figure out in the QQ hand is if that guy is really good at poker or just has a ton of money that won't affect his bankroll if he lost. The whole time Rampage is saying that guy has him covered. At one point he still had him cover when he had $15,000.

What's up Rampage. I saw your notification. I'm a rookie at poker so I probably wouldn't be able to answer any of your questions. Regardless, my analysis is just my opinion, very little theory behind it. It was just my thought process. You probably took an ok line. But keep luck boxing it and plays like these wouldn't matter. I do have further opinions on the hand, but at this point it seems moot. Gl and I hope you continue to run hot and play well. Looking forward to ur next vlog.

i like the play w 88 if you know the opponent wasn’t a thinking player, but realistically you can’t really show up to the river with 89 unless you had 89ss so in this specific case would the 8♠️ be better to have for that spot on the river

Ethan, just a heads up: the hand you won with the wheel? You didn't have the nuts. 5-6 was the absolute nuts for that board. I've lost with A-x (2-5) so many times when someone plays a trash hand out of position with an A on the board, it's insane.

..... The queens you were supposed to click back min raise him on the turn. Pot control and folds out that bluff, especially if you're not comfortable losing a lot.

Quick analysis on the QQ hand. To preface, I understand it’s difficult in the moment and 6K is a large amount of money, but I do believe this is a call. Yes there are more hands that beat you than you lose to, but not when you consider his sizing on the river. It’s an extremely polar size. There’s a 4 liner on the board and he almost never has a 6 here. A 1.5X pot size bet on this board with Aces or kings for value is absurd. Maybe if you two had a dynamic where he was a very experienced pro, I could get behind the idea of him purposely polarizing with a hand like KK AA knowing that you’ll recognize he has no 6s in range and will pay off with a worse hand… but I don’t see that play coming from a guy who’s limp calling raises oop with 8,9 off. Just my opinion. Either way, great video and keep up the good work!
