I use those same Virpil desk mounts and when I'm not playing, I simply unclamp them and move them off to the side. They're quite convenient because they have a quick-release lever for the clamp, so moving them around is quick and easy.

Check out the Foxx Mounts for the HOTAS. They are a quick clamp and almost flush mount on the desk top so minimal mouse interference. When not in use I just clamp them to the side of my desk out of the way, or if I know I'm not going to be able to use them for a while I clamp them to a shelf in my closet.

I have used this from the very beginning in 2016, when I started with Elite Dangerous and have used it for more than 1800 hours in E:D and different flight simulators before it broke. It is a very good one, was better in some points than my T16000 FCS I am using since one month, now. However, Thrustmaster is a very good choice. I like it very much!

For desk mounting my HOTAS, I used a pair of articulating monitor mounts. (Link below) They were cheap, but of good quality, and have great range of movement. The poles have a clamp, or can be directly bolted to a surface. I used the clamps, and mounted them so the poles were going down. The VESA mount is removable from the arms. I have the X56 HOTAS. I cut a piece of 1" plywood for the base to bolt the stick/throttle to, and screwed the VESA mount to the bottom. This allows me to position the HOTAS any way I want, and also be able to swing it out of the way. The arms can be mounted far enough to the side of the desk, so as not to interfere with your chair. I used the dual monitor mounts, and linked all the arms together with the addition of a longer bolt and locking nut. These are incredibly strong. I had originally got them as a proof of concept, but they worked out far better than I expected. I'll post some pics of them in your Discord this weekend. www.amazon.ca/gp/product/B01LH0L52S/

Hey Astro. Very nice Video. I like the idea of showing other Cmdr‘s playrooms. I‘m using Monstertech desk mounts for my Virpil CM2 throttle and Alpha stick. Works very well and i enjoy every minute playing with. If i don’t use them (shooter, etc.) is use monstertech wall mounts to store the whole equipment at my left wall. Very clean solution, done in seconds, love it.

When looking at the shifter on the racing setup, the one with the ball on top is the gear shift, the other is the e-brake.

My cockpit is a ps4 controller, and a sofa... I swear, if I could move to PC without losing my vette, all my engineering, all my ranks, I would love to build a cockpit for Elite. But that being said, I still very much enjoy the game as is.

No, that's the "Pride of Hiigara" from HW2. Because it is actually *finished*. Original mothership had some unfinished bits just above the center, because they kinda had to leave in a hurry.

Loved these videos, great idea Commander! For my cockpit away from home I use a ps4 and my s10+ and a ps4 controller, works great for mobile, can play anywhere, unfortunately ps4 tops out @1080p when mobile.

On the Driving/Elite rig that tall stick is for the E brake. It's used for Rally Cars mostly.

Monster Tech desk mounts are great. They are easy to adjust and move aside; however for long term storage they can be a bit akward to store. Monstertech does sell wall mounts which I haven't tried yet.

The second setup is using the Xbox branded Thrustmaster joystick and throttle. i actually have the Playstation Branded version of it and its not that bad of a controller. I mean its not warthog or high dollar one, but it is still a thrustmaster so they definitely made it worth what you spend on it. There good if you dont have a ton of money to be spending on controllers.

The emergency stop button is because that Simucube MiGE wheel motor puts out 30Nm of torque which is more than enough to break your wrists if you tried to grab the wheel to stop it as it thrashes about after or during a simulated crash. It might also kill the power to the DoF motion rig.

The cockpit at 7:55 has a hand brake and gear shift. Not 2 gear shifts. Racers who pull drifts like a big huge hand brake to help kick the car's rear end out. Look at some rally racing videos (real, not virtual) and you'll see something similar, where the driver has both a sequential gear shifter and a big tall hand brake lever.

In 6 DOF, in addition to the three orientation motions (yaw, pitch, roll), the three translational motions are heave (up/down), surge (forward/back), and sway (left/right). The terminology comes from sea-going ships, which travel slowly enough that these motions are actually a factor (as opposed to planes which travel so quickly that a few m/s of heave or surge can usually be ignored).

Most table mounts have quick release mechanisms that allow you to easily unsecure and move them.

Dave, could you do a vedio about setting up macros on Virpil gear? I have a Tartarus Pro with macros set but want to assign them to my CM2 throttle. Just can't figure out how to get there.

You could try integrating your hotas into the table itself while making it exchangable I got myself a removable chairmount (consisting of three individual parts) Takes some time on planning but I hope it's worth the effort.. I'm still waiting for my Hotas One to be delivered

I like your videos and am subscribed. I've seen a few of your videos where you pronounce Warthog incorrectly. It is "Wart" and "Hog" no "th" sound at all. It's named after the Fairchild Republic A-10 Thunderbolt II, nicknamed Warthog. Warthog wikipedia article en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Warthog includes pronunciation. Sorry, but it's been driving me nuts ;-)

I have a question cause few days per week especialy when i have my days or weekend off i stay at my girlfriends home and i have to take apart my rig (good gaming laptop and hotas) pack them up and move back and forth . Home the laptop is connected to 3 screens my electric guiatr and amp equipment and staff so it works as a desktop pc and it takes time and effort to unplug everything and plug them back in every week. So in your video i saw that ppl play elite dangerous in ps4 and maybe xbox so maybe i get a cheap used one of these to play . My question is ate there different servers do i need different account or u log in to the ps4 or xbox and continue where i left from home from my pc elite dangerous ? And if yes shouldn't they have a lighter version of elite dangerous for mobile so we can at least grind and farm on my way to my pc rig from my ps4 or xbox rig ? Why waste time ?

Hello I have chair mounts they are amazing they quickly attach and detached and are very well made they are a German manufacturer, they then do attachment for mouse and keyboard plates. I don't have them a I mainly play in vr. This makes chair mounts better as I swivel and tilt a bit so they always in perfect position.

@@maxmustermann2676 monstertech. You specify your chair and hotas. I think the mounting plate is made to order. It fits where you arm rests attach. I would recommend half centimetre longer m8 screws to account for thickness of the metal plate.

That first cockpit it's not a decal under the monitor, the bottom of the monitor stand projects that light pattern on the desk.

Yep is this one here rog.asus.com/monitors/27-to-31-5-inches/rog-strix-xg32vqr-model/ you can choose to have it project the ROG image underneath the monitor. Is a nice little RGB feature.

You can check out www.monstertech.com they have chair mounts that can swivel backwards on the chair. When you have desk mounts you can move them to the side or they have wall mounts you can place your mounts on after use.

@down to earth Astronomy if you're looking for a chair or table mounts, I can highly recommend Monster Tech from Germany. I got a set for my DXRacer chair for the Thrustmaster T.16K joystick and Throttle + mouse mount. Not cheap but very good quality product - www.monstertech.de/ For the chair mounts, you can get a couple of rotary quick connectors that you can open and swing the joystick and throttle to the side of the chair, and you can then get close to your desk when not using the HOTAS.

It is a Thrustmaster T- sixteen THOUSAND not HUNDRED...you always get that wrong...............T-16000 not 1600.......just saying. Also It's pronounced WART---HOG...not WARTH-HOG....the first syllable does not have a TH sound in it just the T..like a WART on the skin of a HOG...WART-HOG. Now the ship is from Star Trek II..The Wrath of Khan..it is the USS Reliant.. and the other ship on the stand is the Mothership from Homeworld the video game.

Astro, I can't speak to the use of desk-mounts for ELITE peripherals but I have had to cope with them for Gran Turismo and it's not that much of a pain to unclamp and slide them to the side when they are not in use.
