The sharpness, aggressiveness, precision, driver involvement and pure thrill the E60 M5 encapsulates and represents marks it as a high point among all sedans along with the E39 M5 (and maybe even above). It won't ever be surpassed or matched ever again. Long live the V10! So proud to own one.
E60 M5 is a BEAST of a machine. Enough power to slay giants, the perpetually magnificent roar of a V10 and docile enough to take the kids to football practice. Only thing better than an E60 M5 is an even faster E60 M5.
Love the crisp from stroking, and the exhaust does good too. This would be the way I would like my car to sound, it's an M5 with 630hp after all. Roars like a beast, love it. I can only imagine the shivers going down my spine, if I could hear this IRL. ;)
Give it an F10/F12/F13/F06 a Meisterschaft exhaust and you'll have a beast there that'll blow your ears off. It's also way more capable than the E60 gen.
***** If you look closely at what I wrote you'll see it says blow you're ears off I'm not saying that the current M series have the best exhaust notes just adding an aftermarket exhaust. I find it odd that you're talking and yet your name has turbos in it......
100% agreed they should've just kept updating them. Imagine if bmw produced a twin turbo or supercharged V10 from the factory today they'd sell them out in a heart beat. The new v8's sound like shit. There's no reason they couldn't have engineered the newer V8 to have the s65 tone. I love the body style of the new m550, and m5, but I hate the way they sound. If bmw had been able to engineer the exhausts to sound like the s65 that we all love they would probably sell twice the amount of cars. That s65 sound paired with the insane performance of the M6, M8, M5, x5M, and x6M would be a bmw enthusiasts dream come true.
Here's a video of my Dinan E60 M5 5.8 liter stroker from this side of the Atlantic. I have the full Dinan exhaust with modified headers and midsection. While I like the sound, I most appreciate the speed and acceleration resulting from my mods. I couldn't care less if some don't like the sound--if it bothers you, you can opt to spend your time watching videos of cars with exhausts you prefer. Speed and Mischief Midnight Cruise Teaser HD!!!
Mine sounds different than Peter's M5, likely because I have Dinan exhaust and he has KKS, with a raspier sound. Think they both sound great, though. Mine is louder than it seems in the video and unfortunately attracts attention from the police for being "too loud."
I just love how nobody pays attention to those M5s, I mean, in my opinion their unassuming looks is the best part of the M5. Maybe replace the M5 badges with 528i badges, and watch your opponents' faces as you race them.
I have my doubts, I have heard several BMW M5 E60 and they sound different, however this one sounds very aggressive, it sounds like an American muscle and that raises doubts in my mind, could it be some modification to the engine or exhaust system, could someone explain to me?
