@@iangunther Even better was this summer when you layed down the gauntlet with the "Gunther Got You!" We still need to see the video of you rigging up that bar in France to give out when @Yvenel was practicing on it! 🤣
Simone being referenced when talking about difficulty in men's gymnastics is outstanding. She is literally in a league of her own. 3.5 double twisting backflip is insane. Pushing their bodies to the limits...great athletes.
@@ambivvvvvvvvvalence you do realize that men have over 50% more muscle mass than women right? Her in any conversation with her male counterparts speaks to how talented she really is.
@@kratoskalliope you do realize men weigh a lot more also? Gymnastics is about relative strength not real strength and even then its not as important as the flexibility and coordination required. I don’t think we should belittle female gymnasts by pretending there is a huge gap between what is possible for either gender in a part of the sport where its particularly negligible.
Yes exactly.. a non gymnast can easily comprehend not only the skill to defeat gravity but how humans are expanding on these superhuman abilities year after year.. NZ
You know, Ian. I’ve been a coach for a while, after you retire, you’re going to make a great coach. You seem to really love the sport and you obviously have really good technical knowledge. (And you seen fun!)
The flips are amazing for sure, but those landings! The insane amount of momentum they need to do all those stretched out rotations AND nearly stick their landing or taking half a step is breaking my brain lol. These guys are crazy.
@buffasiannerd It's not "inflated". It's adjusted to the relative strength of women, hence whatever j difficulty for women is just as impressive as a j-rated move for men would be.
Not a gymnast. None of that looks easy. If I attempted anything like that I’d break my neck and throw up everywhere. It’s truly impressive what passion and training in any field can have individuals accomplish. Thank you for sharing this sort of thing for those of us with no basic understanding, it has me looking at the sport in a completely new light.
Double layouts are my favorite. I know they're not as technically impressive, but the twists often need to happen so fast, that they're hard for the naked eye to interpret or appreciate. Double layouts are legible in real time, and the backward arcing body position is elegant and gorgeous in the air. Just love it.
I'm not a acrobat, but physically there is energy costs for both flips and twists, and a half extra twist means you have less energy for the flips. So 3.5 twists costs lots of energy, alongside the control you need to have for this is impressive
I first thought he was gonna explain the physics of why it's so nearly impossible kinda like how they've done with quad axels in figure skating. The sheer amount of height and rotational speed you have to achieve is insane and that's my non technical explanation. Would love to hear a technical one about this skill. ☺️💕
Holy crap! Gymnastics has become super hero level! In the 90s one of the hardest was a full in full out double back or 2 and half twist on floor. We were working double pikes I was never good enough to compete it though. You guys are amazing
It always amazes me how hard gymnasts push their bodies and how effortless they make each move look. That move looks hard but also smooth and intentional. In reality it’s literally pushing your body to the limits and doing moves previously thought impossible. It never ceases to amaze me :) that’s probably what keeps me drawn as a fan to the sport even making me want to get back into it
Everyone was talking about how the Jarman looks really difficult and complicated, but am I the only one who seems to realize that this is the first time Ian puts Khoi in his video ever since he made a video that they are beefing?
The most fascinating part of these skills is that there is little to no thought about it when they're doing it. They're not counting the flips or twists like you might expect. They have worked through the progressions so meticulously that the body knows how to do it.
I liked seeing the progression, because you can almost feel the rhythm of it, and you really appreciate how many twists are shoved in the same amount of time. Insane!
The more extended your body is when you flip, the harder it is to get the momentum needed to rotate. That’s why layouts and pikes are harder than the conventional ‘flip’.
I'm gonna be honest since I can't track what's actually happening when they flip in the air that many times that fast I just know that it's hard but I can't get past that
To us laypersons who know very little about gymnastics it looks impossible to do a single flip. When gymnasts do stuff like this it is essentially incomprehensible to people like me.
Insane. The average person can't hope to comprehend how difficult this is, hell even the average gymnast probably can't - you have to be pretty good to get a sense of how hard it is
THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THIS FANTASTIC, AMAZING VIDEOS. Love your presentation is remarkable with examples of each jump all to progressions to this MIRACLE TOTAL MANEUVER. BRAVO 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉LOVE THIS, can't get enough of this killer video of these collection of jumps!!!❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉😂😂
