3 months ago I bought the 2016 Sport Supercharged (62,000 miles) with 6 years warranty ($3,000). Really a beast(faster than my 2014 m3), ran left a Jeep srt. If getting one, just make sure u get extended warranty.
Man im sorry. Im from the uk and they are known to be total garbage. Beautiful but garbage . Dont buy them reliability is lada quality. 11k for what. Keep your money they aren't worth it
I’m from the uk and that’s not true.. we own range rovers & everyone else I know and it’s literally everywhere owned by just anybody , if it’s such disaster, we won’t own them for such long time , never seen any on the side road broken down ! It’s internet folks that gives the impression plus the blogger said in maples there are countless range but only two have had the issues.. do the maths
You never want to be a second owner of a luxury car, you’re just in for headaches upon headaches. Even with a warranty, general maintenance is a lot, just get a new one, under warranty, on lease
But it’s so expensive. I still feel I’m way ahead of how much a new one would have cost me with the same options as I have. Fully loaded comes to about $2k a month on a new lease.
Lol rubbish .. Iv owned used car as third owner. Just do your due diligence, service history and everything done and AA checked before purchase.. Americans don’t do yearly servicing but wait till the car is dead , some don’t even know they need to put ad blue in car then when car run dry and doesn’t start they blame range rovers reliability
Engine removal for a timing chain? It’s an expensive job, but not $9k expensive. No need to remove the engine for a timing chain. It sounds like you got fleeced at the dealer
I had a Range Rover Sport Super Charged that cost 8.5k at dealer for timing chain and water pump. My tensioners were worn and needed replacing. Had a CNA warranty and my deductible was $100.
I’ve had 2 RRS, wife has had 2 Jag XE’s (aj126) and I currently have a 2015 RRS L494 Aj133 and all I can say is you got hosed. I’m tired of hearing reliability issues as these are quite robust if you know anything about autos. Problem is there are too many that buy these and know nothing about maintenance. Factory schedule is a joke. Front and rear diff, transfer case, transmission filter/fluid every 30k miles. You’re running 500 HP motor, it’s not a Camry. There is a ton of heat so a ton of friction. Change your oil often (every 5k not 15k interval which is retarded). Preventive…front and rear coolant crossover pipes need changing, supercharger coupler also. This is for both the gas V6 and V8. I put in aluminum aftermarket pipes as plastic coolant pipes are a joke. Supercharger coupler needs replacing with aftermarket solid piece. A rattling supercharger coupler is commonly diagnosed as timing chain and I guarantee the stealership raped you on this. For what you payed you could have purchased and had installed a new Tapa upgraded motor. The Velocity AP tune for a couple of grand DIY will put you above 600hp and over 450 HP in the V6 and is a nice upgrade. The V8 beats my Carrera S with the AP tune. Get some tools, an obd2 scanner, learn how to wrench and you won’t ever see a repair bill this high. This is one of the last opportunities to own a fantastic V8 before they are phased out. Don’t let this chump scare you with a ridiculous bill.
I'm so ready to get rid of my LR. I'm two years in and had to replace the water pump and now major engine issues.Yes, they look good, and ride great, but such a shit brand. If you're going to buy a LR, I would say trade every 3 years.
Such gorgeous cars but have the worst engines in the universe. Any Land Rover product MUST have a warranty in order to enjoy the somewhat good experience.
I think you said it all if you love the way this vehicle drives…the repair bills you tend to forget about. It drives great…I’m mechanically inclined so I do my own brakes/oil changes but the roar of that V8 and the way it stands up when you accelerate is awesome!
@@wlonsdale1 I currently just hit 100k and outside of one coolant leak & shift button needing to be replaced haven’t had any issues. Everything else has been routine maintenance oil/brakes which I do. If this is not something a person can do the would stray away from the Range as it is extremely expensive at shops. Hope this helps…
What made you think the rear differential needed work? My 2018 RR v8 SC is in the shop now for a noise in the rear end I've been hearing. They say they don't hear anything but I'm scared to pick it up because my bumper to bumper is about to expire. I love my car but your issue has made me nervous.
It was half the cost of a new one, that is why. Lol… and yes, I expect some things to break but an engine out at 50k miles with full service records seems a little more than expected routine maintenance in a vehicle that boarders $100k in 2014!
not likely, these cars have lifespan of 5 years, and anything beyond that requires extended warranty. Anyway, best quality cars are built by Porsche and Lexus, so if your main concern is reliability, get a cayenne s
@@shaytrask7538 that’s a very nice car. No electric cars are too troublesome, I have a model Y and it’s nothing but problems. Quality issues, range anxiety etc. My dad bought a LX570 brand new in 2016 and I sold it in 2021 for a GLS580, 0 issues, super reliable, and GLS is trouble free for a year now. I drive long commutes so
@@jackz4149 interesting. I had a model Y for a while and it was nothing but awesome! No issues the entire time, just sold because I was driving the Turbo all the time and didn’t love the overall concept of the Model Y. Have a Rivian coming in the next week or so to replace as a daily!
This helps explain why Range Rovers (petrol) go for a song at USS auto auctions here in sunny Japan. Those all-fashion, no-function low profile tyres on an off-roader, what a joke. Just asking to get the side walls ripped. And if you never take it off road, what's the point? Who are you trying to impress? You can't buy respect, you have to earn it. Jack, the Japan Alps Brit
ABSOLUTELY NOTTTTT 😮Range Rover needs to be sued! They are ripping customers off! Not worth it even if the car looks amazing and drives great. Get a Lexus Sir………🤦🏾♀️
Supposedly mine was a freak occurrence. I live in Naples so we have a billion Rovers and this is only the second one they have ever had with this issue!
Madness ' What was the Labour Rate ? Nothing to do with the car ' Trouble stateside Is Greed ' That done in the UK would be 25% of the bill by a specialist
You got totally ripped off! No need to remove the motor to fix timing chains!!!! Mine took 3 days with supercharger service! Its crazy how people get ripped off in the western world.
Some random one off eBay. Shaved the back flat and added 3M tape! I have a new version of it that is just magnetic for the iPhone 12 Pro Max now... pretty nifty wireless charging system!
Thxs for the video. Thats emabarrasing that Land Rover couldn't help you out with the cost. At least meet you halfway "if" you've been dilgent on your scheduled service.
i bet that bill was alot more, but they had to be smart and cut it down or you would have just abandoned the vehicle and they wouldnt have made anything from you.
Every car has it issues it doesn't matter which company made it... Thrust me... I will get one but i europe the 6 cyl. Diesel is my choice... Have fun love them... And warm them slowly up service under 10k miles and they will last realy long. The parts are cheaper than for the germans... And the german cars are boring looking... Cheers
In the uk we do yearly service, not wait till car is dead before fixing as Americans do then complain.. when you do servicing under 10k or yearly whichever is earlier , you get things sorted , ripped up, replaced before it’s broken..
My 2013 bmw 35d X5 with a 6 cylinder diesel gets about 30mpg on the highway and can run circles around his baby rangee rover. And it looks a hell of lot more masculine and unique than the little tiny RR that the " major league baseball ⚾️ player's " ( wife) used to drive !
Smart, however I bought mine used so I’m still at about $54k all in on mine and it’s paid off, I’ve heard a lease on a new loaded Range Rover will be close to $48k for 2 years?!?
@@Mrrlamb1 dang, maybe they went down, but that includes EVERYTHING, taxes, down payment, monthly lease, and anything else that could be needed during those 2 years... maybe they have gone down in price since last I looked though.
Yeah you definitely want to have a good cushion before buying one of these or else definitely get a warranty. However, I don’t care how much money I have, $11k on a 52k mile perfect condition vehicle that’s only $90k new seems like too much
@@shaytrask7538 true, it wasn’t the best considering what brand they come from, but what i love about them is the insanely good presence they have on the road. i can’t think of any other suv or other «normal everyday» kind of car that has the same amount if presence on the road as the g wagons have, and i really love that about them
