@@jimd.7939Your Statement was about Straddling and Bomb Pots. Good players would prefer to play Bomb Pots every single hand. Am I going over your head with this advanced poker knowledge?
@jimd.7939
@jimd.7939 3 года назад
@@garygwinn4256 A shark by definition is a skilled poker player. Straddle is essentially a third blind (2x BB). Historically, the blinds are the most -EV out of all positions at the table. It is never +EV to invest $ in your hand before you see what cards you hold. Straddle increases the stake of the game. It effectively reduced stack sizes by half and decreased SPR, making it a short-stack game with less wiggle room for a skilled player to make plays (like in a deep stack game). In short, straddle takes away the shark's edge over weaker opponents by turning a contest of skill into a crapshoot.

Coming from a recent subscriber to poker vlogs and someone that was sub'd to Brad first, this guy comes across much more dry and I'm not a fan of his play style (one example: showing the Jack before the other player makes his decision).

exposure. brad was first to the market doing regular poker hand analysis stuff (neeme started but wasn't regular or enough poker hands). this guy has better production, probably the best poker mind of the regular poker vloggers too, but is late to the market. people have already bought into the brad owen-verse. they know his cat, gf situation etc. at that point production and talent takes a back seat to familiarity. also this guy may stop posting any day, it happens. esp after a bad run the desire to sit down and edit is not there. brad makes a ton of money off youtube and merch now so he will post regularly regardless of how he's running in poker. the upstarts are more reliant on poker income i guess.

Honestly, personality and likability. Nothing against Mariano, Idk him personally, but Brad comes across as a more likable, relatable person. He’s joking on camera, he brings his poker friends on to talk strategy or just shoot the shit. He seems way more friendly. Also, that B roll kills the momentum of the videos. Watch a Brad video, he may have a 3 minute intro, then it’s straight poker for like 10+ minutes. Most of these other guys will cover a couple hands, then run b roll and that loud music then get back to poker. Takes a lot of people out of it. But that’s just my opinion. What do I know. lol

There were some good vlogers in the past who dramatically decreased the quality of their production and now poker is just a minor topic between selling clothes and promoting restaurants. There were some others which were very fun to watch, but the level of the game wasn't good enough. In my opinion, currently you make the best poker vlogs on youtube - you play smart and attractive poker, you mix it with a good dose of humor, and your video editing skills are making it visually very pleasant to watch! I don't wait to make recreational players table their hand if they look like they don't want to. No reason to embarrass them, just keep it a fun game for them. But if it's someone who I know to be a slow-roller or angle shooter, I will wait until they table their hand or muck. But typically, I agree with you.... the amount of "information" you get is trivial in comparison to the amount of money it costs you if a recreational player thinks the game is too serious about stupid rules and leaves because they're not having fun.

Great content as always. Wicked good production values. I've actually done some research about calling ranges against blind shoves - it happened a couple of times at tables I was at and I realized that (1) it was an incredible EV opportunity, but (2) I had no idea of correct calling ranges. I'm pretty sure, though, that AQs makes the cut. It is a little unnerving that somebody has shoved in front of you, but they should probably be shoving any ace and most kings (as you say) and with the action guy's money in the pot with two random cards, you certainly have great equity. And it's always nice to go runner-runner-nuts for a $7500 pot. Full marks also for just showing your hand and not forcing the other guy to do it. That's just good etiquette and good manners and the information you're giving up is nothing compared to the good karma you're spreading. Usually when they hesitate to show, any decent value hand is the nuts. If you get slow-rolled, meh, that's his problem, not yours. Great work, and *please* stay safe out there.

I am always happy to straddle, always happy to get a fold without making people show, always happy to engage other players with whatever makes it fun for them - running it twice, or showing a card or whatever weirdness. On your dry side pot hand - I would have raised smallish on the turn, just to prevent a dry side pot and would have said I was doing it to provide a "little" bit of protection for the all-in player. Then on the river, you can bet small or medium with there being some possibility of it being a bluff, and thus get called a little bit lighter from the third player. I usually try and avoid getting into a dry side pot situation if I think I am ahead.

This has to be the most epic sessions I've seen in a long time from watching so many RU-vid poker vlogs. Congratulations! Hope you gave the dealer a nice tip. I fucking hate people who win big pots and give a buck or 2

That last hand... imagine waking up with KK in that situation and seeing that you're crushed! I would give up on poker.

The only thing I suggest is to let us know what you buy in for at the beginning and maybe let us know throughout where you stand. The entire video I had no idea what size your stack was. The size of the stack plays a big part on how you play your hands. If I missed it sorry.

Great session, and ending with the little dig back for In-N-Out was superb!

Hey Mariano! Great video, 40 mins of pure entertainment. I’m curious if you have any plans to make a video about yourself and how you got into poker? I’ve been picking up the game for about a year and a half now and you’re an inspiration to me. I went to school for graphic design and eventually hope to start my own poker-related creative content. If it’s too personal and something you don’t want to discuss publicly I totally understand, but I have all kinds of questions about your poker experience! Thanks again for the content, keep it up bro!
